Thanks : BURECK Last night was the first real test of my new Vevor CDH and it's new companion The Bureck remote without battery, I use 1degree F swing Set @ 72F it worked great. I have made a exhaust modification of 10 ft New exhaust pipe coiled downward vertically into a New 6in black stove pipe , then the exhaust goes' out side with a 12v fan connected to the controller , that keeps the exhaust pipe cooler than normal, The end of the exhaust pipe you can touch with your hand about 100-120 f. I have on order 10 more feet of exhaust pipe to cool it to room temperature , together these improvements makes these little heaters VERY efficient and affordable , When i start the wood stove the heater shuts off and stays that way till needed 3-4 am the next morning Thanks BURECK for creating this Thermostat PS. I used about 1/2- 3/4 liter for the night 🛌

I use a swing of 3 in my garage, I always like it on, I spend about $3 for a full day of running. Maybe 2..2 liters? Going on the second year with my current setup.

Looks like a good way to regulate temperature automatically like a regular thermostat. I guess it would be a bit power intensive turning the diesel heater on and off frequently but it would be a nice thing to have for car camping for sure.
@TheCraftyTech Жыл бұрын
Yeah for sure, but really its not too much power to turn off and on, its probably 0.5 amp hours per startup cycle. usually runs the glow plug at 10 amps for 1 minute to startup.

I have a big battery, 460 Amp hours so it would work for me. 540 watts of solar.

IIRC the major advantage to the "Afterburner" controller is it can vary the heat output (fuel/air combos) between low and high parameters before it totally shuts off if a temp target is reached. I think the Bureck just shut of off or on to whatever static heat output level you have it set at....Start up cycles are harder on things...glow plug...batteries (if running off a battery) . I'm not sure if the afterbunred can do the following: vary heat output for fine control , but once in a while go to max for soot burn off.

the bureck just turns it off and on as often as you have set the swing setting, however you can use the heaters display and set it to automatic at a lower temperature than the bureck thingy. It not as good but its good enough for what I do. Ive had it activated since i uploaded this video. I just have an extra glow plug ready to go.

It is perfect for a lot of people using the heater in small spaces. Set it to level 1~3. Just turn off if it gets too hot.

Out of curiosity did you notice how much diesel you're saving by being able to turn it off?
@TheCraftyTech5 күн бұрын
Oh yeah it cuts down the usage by a ton, hard to say the exact savings but if it's running half the time it'll last double as long. Now in the winter I'm never really hitting downtime so almost 0 difference. It's going to be minus 15 or something tonight and I gotta keep my double garage warm.
@cubul325 күн бұрын
@@TheCraftyTech At -15C ? You in Canada? Yeah, I was hoping at least for the mild days around -5 to -1 which is the usual that at lest then it would save some gas by cutting the run time by 30-40% or something like that. At -10 to -20 when the cold starts to bite, it's understandable. But I also want to add an R7.5 to R10 of insulation all around my container. At R7 I know that's enough for a camping mat to insulate from frozen ground so I would expect it would be a good insulation for a trailer, it would certainly lengthen the time between the cycles. I have yet to finish your video, doing some ADHD style research - can you set with this thermostat the exact temps when the pump runs and cuts off (say 11C starts and cuts off at 18.7C - just an eg).
@TheCraftyTech5 күн бұрын
@cubul32 yeah you can set a schedule and the start and stop temps. Yes I'm in Canada lol, it's actually warm for this time of year, we usually have a few minus 40 days. At that point there is no chance for the diesel heater. I've got r12 in the walls and something like r14 in the ceiling. 23 by 23 foot garage.
@cubul325 күн бұрын
@TheCraftyTech I'm in Montreal now, I lived in QC and ON so I know how the winters can be here. I suppose with R7.5 for a 4x8 or 5x8 tiny enclosed trailer, even a 2Kw should be enough at -30, right? That space is a fraction of any garage, at any rate.

Can the Bureck controll the Hz the diesel heater is running on?
@TheCraftyTech Жыл бұрын
No it can only turn the unit on and off, however I believe it's possible to only pair the Hz functions and it will keep sending the signal it thinks is off or on and will probably work but then you loose the ability to have the unit turn off and on. They did make it able to be updated though and we could see more advanced features in the future.

Isn't the start up very loud on the diesel heater? Want to do some winter camping in a honda civic. I assuem the heater would have to turn on and off very often with this controller heating such a small space?
@TheCraftyTech Жыл бұрын
I'd think a civic is a bit small for a heater like this unless your planning on wrapping a tent around the car and leaving the doors open. I have the small 5kw version in my van and it's good to minus 30 or more. I think it'll work but the fluctuations in heat will be pretty big as the heater shut on and off. Ideally you want to have a setup where the heater is turning on and off less for sure.
@raczyk Жыл бұрын
@@TheCraftyTech For your van and 5KW heater, you mean the the heater turn off/on every 30 min? I assuem it's running on low? I'm considering also the 2 KW version for my civic, but believe those are louder. My civic has no insulation, though I don't know if that matters, as the 5KW may overpower that. I'll also have the air intake fed from the outside instead of circulating the inside air, I assume that would also lessen the efficiency of the heater? I'm in Canada, gets to -10 celcius regularly.
@TheCraftyTech Жыл бұрын
Actually sorry I have the 2 kw version. Its good to minus 30 in a minivan, i have it running on automatic but at minus 30 it's running max most the time

Does the afterburner controller need to be wired into the diesel heater? Debating which one to get.
@TheCraftyTech Жыл бұрын
I'm actually not too sure. But I believe it's ideal to always have a connection to the internet when your using and afterburner controller.
@raczyk Жыл бұрын
@@TheCraftyTech Why ideal, thobugh internet connection is only for remote control. Afterbuner can be conntroller internally from my understanding.
@TheCraftyTech Жыл бұрын
I'm probably not the best person to ask about the afterburner, do you know the price? This one is $70 I believe.
@raczyk Жыл бұрын
@@TheCraftyTech Afterburner is twice the cost, plus it's not wireles. My heater will be mounted outisde in a metal box. Woudl the wired controller need to be on the outside of the metal box to get signal from the Bureck?
@bureckllc Жыл бұрын
@raczyk I believe the afterburner needs to be wired into your diesel heater, with some amount of compatability constraints based on the specific ECU board inside the heater and plug type. Our goal with this thermostat was a cheaper and more user friendly solution, thus simple wireless pairing. It should work with the wired controller inside the metal box, the CDthermostat has a pretty strong antenna. It will be more likely to work the thinner the metal box and the closer to it the thermostat is. We'd recommend you buy one and try it, and if it won't work for you we'd be happy to refund you.
