Have installed 2 Chinese heaters 5Kw in caravans. After 3 years I am completely satisfied. My caravan heats up quickly. After a year I had to replace the fuel hose that comes with it, a silicone hose. Bought a 3mm hydraulic hose white and from the tank that is installed in the trunk along the front to the heater along the back, the distance is 6m. It is important not to use the silicone hose that comes with the purchase, it cannot withstand diesel and cold/winter and starts to crumble. Then at the joints to the tank, pump, heater you use black reinforced fuel hose that you use in cars. Have tested the heating last winter when it was -11 degrees outside, took 30 minutes to get 18 degrees plus in the caravan. I don't usually prime the heater and if you have fuel in the tank, no priming is required. Also buy better hose clamps that last. Remember to be careful during the installation and in my case it usually takes 5-6 hours depending on the caravan type, you should also run the power cable directly from a battery with the right area depending on the cable length, as well as a fuse on the battery's + pole. Used to free camp and has 2 100W solar panels with 230V inverter and never run out of power. In addition, you avoid using LPG.

Yes you are absolutely correct. Some of the cheap heaters have a controller that cannot have the settings adjusted. However, it is very, very easy to swap out the motherboard and controller and this video shows you how to do it. The. Note you have to swap them out as a pair as it's a different motherboard that is associated with the controller. You can adjust the settings on. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qXXao3ulr7B8pMU

Hi, I've just bought my first CDH, and have plans for extracting as much energy from the fuel as I can. I have designed the outline plan for a heat exchanger, so I'd like to know typical maximum and minimum temps for air inlet and outlet. Many folk on YT show them shining their I/R thermometers at the aluminium heat-extractor, but what I need is typical air temps away from the ali casting. Cheers!

Ha!... to be honest... I am also shining the IR thermometer on the heat exchanger.... never really measured the heat directly at the outlet of the heater. BUT... I am about to kick off another project so will do just that. 😊

The air inlet for the burner can be noisy, try fitting a exhaust silencer, note the difference. I was experimenting with my 2nd heater a 8kw. The supplied black silencer for air inlet had nothing inside, could hear air rush in. So i place a exhaust silencer over intake and dramatic reduction in intake noise. Not seen anyone try this. I will mod my van heater intake.

Yep... that was just in my workshop playing. That particular unit is now in my van and has an intake silencer as well as an exhaust muffler. In fact, just swapped to the no so-called 'upgraded' exhaust that is making the rounds at the moment.

@@campervan_hackers Yes have the box silencer, bit quieter. What did was place the exhaust silencer, the tin plate type on the inlet, reduces the noise there also. No, you can switch the power off but you will just lose any time settings you have set on your clock. In fact, I have an isolation switch on mine and I shut the power off completely when I'm not using the heater. I don't care about losing the time because I have plenty of clocks in my phone!. Actually, it's not a bad thing to do because those LCD displays tend to fade over time if they're powered up all the time. If you do go down that route though make sure the isolation switch cannot be accidentally triggered when the heater is on full chat as these heaters need to go through a proper cooldown mode before they are switched off.

Hi Steve ... glad you found the videos useful. That particular one I bought about seven years ago off of ebay was quite simply an unbranded heater shipped out by a box shifter who put all the other bits and pieces together and has absolutely no branding on it at all. However, being the nerd I am aI took it to bits and found some labels inside most of which were just inspection labels but I did find one that was the name of the company. I went I went on their website ... they were actually mostly serving the Chinese military! I think I had a bit of good luck on that one because they claim to have Conformité Européenne (CE) and showed a picture of their certification on their website. Initially, I was sceptical but I found the name of the company on the Conformité Européenne register, downloaded the certificate and sent it to the certification body which confirmed that they had validated that machine to Conformité Européenne standards. One thing to be aware of if you're looking for a timer is that although you can set a turn-on and turn-off time, it only operates for one cycle. You have to set it every day which is a real pain sometimes.

It means you must set the timer every time you want to use it even if the start stop times remain unchanged.

@campervan_hackers
@campervan_hackers 7 ай бұрын
Hi... that code is usually associated with undervoltage. Ensure that your battery is fully charged and also healthy. The heater draws quite a bit of juice on start up and the battery needs to be able to deal with those first 3 or 4 minutes while the glow plug is alive. If your heater is in a vehicle you could try starting the engine that charges the battery you are using whilst you do the startup. Finally some of the generic heaters have cables that are a bit thin for any distance and you might want to swap those out to something a little bit thicker.

Yep.. the problem is, that these are domestic units sold by 'box shifters'.. there is no attention to instructions for good international language instructions.. hence I did the video after working it out. Here in the UK these heaters vary a bit but are around £100

Hi, I’be connected mine up to an old car battery which I charged up but it doesn’t have much juice and it gets drained before it can even get going properly. Once it’s going does it start to charge the battery or do I need to get a better battery and somehow find a way to keep that battery charger with a solar panel or something? It’s in a caravan not connected to a power source. Cheers
