Florida is the best hotbed for talent in the Country. Look at Georgia, Bama, Ohio State, and Clemson. They've been raiding Florida for the last decade. Get the right hire that ends quickly. Florida would rapidly move up while those others would take a significant dip. Then, immediately you have the transfer portal and select players and recruits from the previous team. Remember, Florida's CURRENT roster is ranked #7 talent wise.

The timing was as good as it was going to get. Personally, to me it was clear that he just wasn't a guy that was going to take this program to the top level of contention after how last year ended. He escalated a f**ing brawl in the imzzou game, showed up in that darth v. costume, no accountability after that embarrassing LSU game, and then the pathetic showing vs OU and then he says "that's not my real team" ?!?! How do those players respect a coach after that? And it was clear he had no interest in recruiting it was just getting worse and worse every year. So the timing was only bad in that it was WAYYYY too late. But if you're saying they should have waited until after the season, that's just way off. Who cares about the FSU game? For one, I think fans are just ready to close the book on this year's team and not wait a bunch of weeks for some low rate bowl game that doesn't mean anything and a bunch of the better players will opt out anyway. What about the last 7-8 weeks makes you think we'd have a better shot of beating FSU with Mullen vs. without. And perhaps the most important reason: they needed to get into the coaching search game sooner rather than later with several big name power 5 schools already fighting over candidates. Also, recruiting is fucked for a while. Maybe a new head coach with a good reputation will keep some of our players from transferring out.

you make several good points. If firing him now means having a head start in the process of hiring someone new, then I'm good with that.

@@JaymesonTrahan perhaps not even a 'head start,' as maybe what's more appropriate is a little 'behind the 8 ball.' I'm so never going to favor or promote any HC candidates ever again.- my track record is awful. I was a big cheerleader for Muschamp and Mullenand was certain they'd bring us back to glory days. But UF has had to fire and hire so many coaches in the last 10 years that we aare in danger just becoming Tennessee. The next guy could end up being only as good as or even worse than Mullen but it was still the 100% right decision to fire him now

I don't believe that we CAN beat FSU at this point, and what is the upside to going to the RECYCLED CAT LITTER BOWL? Most of the players will wimp out anyway, so let's get our coach ASAP and start doing what Mullen was allergic to....RECRUITING! This team is in total disarray. There's something much deeper going on behind the scenes that isn't being talked about.

I agree with you on Napier . sucks we have to go back to another long offseason with doubts on our talent scouting, defense, qb, and now coach. Everything really lol. Nothing good out of this season except AR15 but he could easily leave.

If anthony Richardson transfers ima be so sad. I went to high school with him which is cool. Also hes the best qb on our roster w amazing potential duh.

UL fan here. I can tell you that you guys are cray if you don't hire Billy Napier. LSU knows he is the best guy for the job, but simply won't hire him because he coaches at Louisiana & too many boosters who have had spats with Louisiana boosters think it is beneath their dignity to hire a coach from a school that gets under their skin. How stupid is that? Don't be LSU. Be smart & get one of the great young coaches in the game.
