I heard somebody requesting that a cruiser be moved it was blocking access. Invariably at most fires police or sheriff arrive before the FD and park their cruisers so they are blocking FD rigs from getting through. Should teach them when they are in the academy proper positioning of their vehicles.

If they had the money to build that big house, they had the money to install an in-house sprinkler system.

Modern construction methods are junk when they catch on fire. Absolute junk. All these fire departments worked their butts off and there was very little chance of saving it.

Nonetheless, much better than balloon framing from the old days when it comes to fires.
@loosecannon6852

@@bobvidoni5898 you think? I don't. At least balloon frame had dimensional lumber. You could vent the roof and get after it. New stuff is all glued laminate, trusses and particle board. Junk. That costs a ton of money for some reason...

I wonder if it would’ve helped if they could’ve gotten an engine around to the pool and drafted water out of there, but it doesn’t look like there’s any way in there.

I possibly could have. We have done that before.

Imagine if one of those agencies had an old 8900 gallon fuel truck refurbished into a super water tender. Those FDs out in CA has them,I’ve seen them in both northern and southern CA.

We had one at the department I worked at in Florida , with a GMC General tractor , it could easily haul 6,000 gallons of water and it had a 4,000 gallon portable hanging on the side , it worked great for a tanker shuttle . We also made a portable 1,200 GPM pump powered by a Chevrolet 350 V8 and a 100 gallon fuel tank , we could fill tankers for hours and hours non stop with two quick fill 2and a half fill lines , 5 minutes to fill our tanker , about two minutes to empty it with a 12 inch dump valve on the back , we made the entire system ourselves .

There's a swimming pool in the backyard -- plenty of water

At the rate that water is used to put out a fire the pool water would last only a few minutes.

Fantastic footage. It's a shame that the people lost their home 🏡 in the fire. It looked like a beautiful place. I wouldn't build a house where there was no access to a hydrant, or two close by. All the firefighters did an excellent job, but house's are cheaply made, and burn quickly. I hope you have a great day, and stay safe ❤️🙂⚘️🚒👨‍🚒.

@@johnwallace482 in my fire district here in Southwest Florida, it’s not uncommon for the seasoned firefighters to make almost $100,000 a year.

Country living is wonderful, but,if there's a fire, all you can do is stand back and watch. Volunteer departments do the best they've been trained to do and have equipment and resources that's available. The worst about this fire was lack of water supply.

drafting from a pool is only a dream.Unless you have a floating hillbilly pump that will only supply a forestry house.

A floating hillbilly pump. Okidoke. They suck water out of pools and lakes and ponds with the helicopters why can't they put a suction pump on a fire truck? If thats only in a dream we are in a world of hurt.

They do make them , we had one at my department in Florida , we were the first department in the state to become ISO tanker certified . We could fill from any water supply , and yes we could have and would have used that swimming pool , our portable pump was on a small trailer towed behind a 4 wheel drive pickup , we would have gotten it to the pool

Yeah…the go to excuse for firefighters everywhere when things don’t go as planned. I’d say that’s a minimum of 18,000 gallons of water sitting in that swimming pool.

How many firemen does it take to put out a fire? 20. 2 to putting water on the fire and 18 to stand around and do each other's makeup.

Fires are tough, but why didn't someone realize that 90% fire could have been fought from one place if they had attacked via the great room in the rear, rather than of trying to go thru the front door? Scroll back to the 2 minute point.
