A trip to the top of a mountain searching for snow and a great view from the site of an old Forest Service fire lookout in our Dodge Cummins DIY camper truck.

We moved to Sappho in 1975 when my dad got a job with the Forest Service at Snider Work Camp. It was built as a Civilian Conservation Corps camp. Pure magic. Thank you.

Thanks Amy that’s awesome! The old buildings are still in pretty good shape and it’s tuff to beat that location next to the river. I wish I could live there! 👍

Sick!! I have a 1998 Dodge Ram 2500 last year of the 12 valve. I put a Northstar 850sc on back. Hammerhead Bumpers. I drive it from Idaho to California to work. Nice Rig.

That’s awesome! Your 98 is a great year, the P-Pump puts out a bit more hp from the factory than our 95. Solid trucks!

I’ve still got it and Stacy was just talking about taking it out so we will definitely make another video with it soon! I have a bunch of friends with Alaskans so I will put some camper tour videos together. It’s always cool to see what mods each camper has gotten over the years. By the way, your current truck/Alaskan combo is looking awesome 👍

Yes, that’s a cool spot! We went through that on motorcycles and did 2918/2920 on a couple of other trips. Some great places in that area. I’ve gotten stuck in snow back there in the past too, it gets pretty high elevation.

I want to find the connection road between East and West Twin roads if it still exists on the Sadie Creek side. I’ve also heard about an old bunker off of West twin that I’ve been looking for but haven’t found yet.

Like you videos. Keep 'em coming. I was wondering what year your 12V was, but saw that you mentioned it was a 1995. I am the original owner of a 1996 12V 2500 Ext Cab 4WD. Mine is all original/stock and am about to make some modifications to it, to give it a little more power. Love the sound of the Cummins, especially the 12V's. Y'all take care and stay safe.
@OlympicOverland3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! You made a good choice buying that 1996 and hanging on to it all these years! We did 5x12 injectors from Power Driven Diesel, bigger exhaust, AFC Live and a BHAF air filter for a little extra power and it has been nice. These motors are so good and just keep going and going. Cheers! 👍

Really nice build. Do you have any new videos with the cab over added on top? Would love to see the finished product
@OlympicOverland3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Juan, my next video will include all of the work of installing the top. I’m pretty close to posting that one and have more videos to edit so hopefully adding more content soon. I have a few pics of the truck as it sits on my Instagram Olympic_overland page. 👌

@@OlympicOverland The photos on IG look great. Even the paint looks like a close match. I thought you would have to do a wrap, or paint all of it for it to match. Looking forward to the follow up videos.
@OlympicOverland3 жыл бұрын
@@juanpinto5743 it’s crazy how many different versions of olive drab and flat brown paint are on the market, I tried a few before settling on the ones we used but it’s pretty close! I’m not sure if it will stay camo but it’s good for now and we still have to pull the box eventually to cut the pass-through cab so maybe a different paint combo when it’s removed. 👍

2 questions.....Do you have diff locks? Have you replaced the tappet cover gasket.......?
@OlympicOverland3 жыл бұрын
Hi, no diff locks yet but I will be putting one in the rear axle (probably ARB) after the new top is installed. I replaced all 6 valve cover gaskets when I did my last valve adjustment and the motor is oil free! 👌
@alexzipp5853 жыл бұрын
@@OlympicOverland Good to hear! But the tappet cover is the side cover on the I.P. side.
@OlympicOverland3 жыл бұрын
Ha ha, I saw tappet cover and just automatically assumed valve cover. I haven’t changed the tappet cover gasket yet but will check it out and make sure to put it on the list. The 6bt has been great and pretty oil tight after doing those valve covers. My favorite diesel!

Wonderful video! Ive been looking to do an overland build on my 24V. Im located in north cascades, not far. Im sure this has been asked before, what is your wheel/tire setup & size? What lift? Love it.
@OlympicOverland3 жыл бұрын
Hi! We are currently running a 6” lift (I can’t remember what brand but will let you know when I remember) with 17” wheels and 35x12.5x17 BFG KO2’s. It’s been great so far and rides really well but we will be going with Carli or Thuren suspension after the camper is finished and our overall weight is finalized for setting up a new spring rate. We have been so busy working on the new camper top lately that haven’t had much time for editing but I will hopefully have a new video out soon and will include a few shots of the suspension and lift for you. Cheers!
@jd60523 жыл бұрын

What are your EGTs like towing that compared to empty?
@OlympicOverland10 ай бұрын
Do you mean with or without the box? It’s actually really light because the m1031 box is mostly aluminum. Even with the full top that I added it’s far lighter than most cabover campers so egt’s didn’t change on it.
