Anything that’s a ‘flow’ activity will help the head. Whatever absorbs all your attention will work. Motorcycles, bushwalking, carpentry, kayaking, music, sailing, hunting, painting, welding, cycling, brisk walking, yoga, … and let yourself get into that flow without distractions (phone off, no news, no music, focus only on the activity). And it’s advisable to stop all consumption of mainstream news … it just does your head in, and you won’t really miss it.

In 2020, I experienced one of the most difficult times in my life. I lost a job that I really enjoyed, the pandemic was ramping up and I became more socially isolated, and the anxiety I had under control started to affect me again, to the point where I started to slip into that well of mental health troubles many of us are familiar with. But a friend and I started hiking and camping more. I started to get out and walk in nature and hike on my own too, and every time I went outside, I felt the anxiety and despair slipping away. Life makes so much more sense out in nature. You feel more connected to yourself, you’re able to be in the moment, living for that moment and that moment only. And that’s really what matters at the end of the day. Live for the moment, live to appreciate what you can, and try not to dwell on the not so great things in life. Nature will absolutely bring you healing-I’ve experienced it firsthand myself. Looking forward to continuing to watch your camping adventures! All the best! 🙏👍😁

Subscribed! Natural, engaging, beautifully filmed, a joy to watch. As you said (and we should remind ourselves) the journey is about the now and being grateful for what we have. The poem by William Davies nails it - What is this life if, full of care, We have no time to stand and stare. No time to stand beneath the boughs, And stare as long as sheep or cows. No time to see, when woods we pass, Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass. No time to see, in broad daylight, Streams full of stars, like skies at night. No time to turn at Beauty's glance, And watch her feet, how they can dance. No time to wait till her mouth can, Enrich that smile her eyes began. A poor life this if, full of care, We have no time to stand and stare. ATB Fuzzy!

Hi Fuzzy, I could probably make whole video about my life story, I always struggled from a young age but always loved sports and the outdoors, when I was in school I started going to the old acid house parties and you can guess I spent a fair few years on drugs, I always blamed my mental health, long story short I’ve suffered with Schizophrenia for over 22 years now, I’m lucky as I can control it now but find you just have to live with it. I think I’m always on my own there’s no one else like me, I’m about 12 years clean now and have done over 37 marathons or longer up to 54 miles quite a few triathlons and love to get out in the outdoors, keep up the good work

Great video! I know for sure that the outdoors can make people physically and mentally healthier. I notice that I feel a lot better when I am outdoors a lot. The closer to nature the closer to yourself. I know for sure that the outdoors and especially wild camping can be a life saver for you and many others and myself included. I hope to see more of your outdoor adventures!

I suffered from panic anxiety and depression for, well, decades now. Medication controls it. These days I camp on a cot on my balcony, overlooking a landscaped courtyard with a large pool. It provides fresh air and a bit of a change but it is nothing like a true wild camp.

Life is comp!icated, wild camping is about simplicity. Walk, eat, sleep, wake up and do it again. Love it! The old noggin can take a break wild camping. The answer to your question is right here in this video. I know you see yourself when editing but have you watched your entire video? The look in your eyes and the smile on your face says it all! Going home is always hard but think about planning for the next one and keep up with being grateful to be able to do so! Wild camping will save your life, if you let it. :) :). Thanks for being you, you have a wonderful camera presence and will help yourself and many others with your inspirational videos. :)

I think the city life can feel suffacating, getting out there into the country and experiencing some space and freedom should be something everyone tries at least once. I'm going to do this soon on my own and then eventually try and persuade my kids to come along with me. my goal is to eventually do this around the world.

Excellent video! Very much looking forward to seeing your future camping adventures. I think it will have such a positive effect on your mental wellbeing. Being surrounded by nature has so many benefits to us. The Japanesd even have a term for it, "Shinrin-yoku" or "forrest bathing". They started using it as a medical treatment back in the 80s I believe to treat anxiety and depression. Keep it up man and dont forget the charger next time 😄

I just got back from walking the trails in the midlands for a few days, its a great replacement for self halm due to brambles etc, it lets you clear your mind and be alone but in a healthy way rather than sitting in bed telling yourself youre depressed and letting it take hold, it also helped me with interacting with others due to the people you meet on the trail. All the best Fuzzy keep your chin up and keep helping yourself in anyway you can, you only let it win when you give up and then you pass it onto others

Yes, but don't go like a bull at a gate. Just take it easy and flow through the countryside, taking in all the smells, colors, textures, and movement expenditure as it comes. Don't set goals for distance etc., just meander through the countryside. The countryside is the human's natural environment; cities are grating with their concrete, steel and crazy noises. Enjoy... We have used camping and bushwalking (meander style) for most of our life to counter bouts of depression. The insanity of humanity living in the modern conditions smacks against what our bodies and mind were designed for. The simpler for us, the better. Clean fresh air etc....

Good on you, mate. Proper impressive to get up and go full self-help in the face of mental illness. The beauty and loveliness of nature is a forever thing. Fashions and styles and ideas and even therapies come and go, but the natural world is a constant. I have CPTSD myself and find I can handle my box of frogs so much better for regular immersions in nature. And when I go bird watching my mind goes completely quiet. It's like magic. It's medication AND meditation all rolled into one. Wishing you every happiness, you deserve it.

Stay positive, always look for the positives, there are always there. The tent is strong and low, so good in wind. You seem to have bought good kit to keep you outside most of the year. I keep my kit in open tubs (it allows moisture out) I can quickly grab everything I need without forgetting stuff. I think the wildcamping will definitely help. It has me. If you have any questions, I'm more than happy to pass it on my experience to help you. I've been outside almost all my life, when I struggled, I wasn't going outside. I feel ive lost over 10 years, so I know what you mean. Watching this makes me excited for my next trip on Friday. Back Tor is between Hollins Cross and Lose Hill, I think you mean Great Tor? Great Video, keep 'm coming.
@LeeFuzzy

Thank you for the tips with the open tubs. I'm glad getting out wildcamping has helped you. It's good to know it helps so many others too. I also thought Back Tor is between Hollins Cross and Lose Hill, but there is a Trig point called Back Tor which is on Derwent Edge. See www.alltrails.com/en-gb/explore/trail/england/derbyshire/derwent-edge-back-tor-and-lost-lad and it shows the route I went. Very confusing, maybe its normally known as Great Tor. Anyway thank you mate, I hope you enjoy your next wild camp.

Hi Fuzzy. What a refreshingly honest video. A someone who suffers with mental health issues especially the last couple of years, I can absolutely guarantee that wild camping works wonders. Mainly because you pretty much always have something to do which means you are always in the moment. Then of course you are surrounded by nature and the starry skies which all help to stay relaxed. You will have anxious moments when things go wrong, or you get soaked or hear animal noises in the woods (everyone gets freaked by those in the beginning) but they are few and far between. Mostly it's brilliant. You also come across as a really nice fella and I've subbed to watch how you get one. All the best. Oh, quick tip. Stick a spare charger in the inside pocket of your sleeping back when you get home so if you forget it, you always have that in the sleeping bag, which you'll never forget (hopefully!) Take care, all the best. Martin.

I’m sold after watching the first 3 minutes, you’ve got such an amazing character about yourself, stay positive and just take each day as it comes. Great video fuzzy I hope there’s more😃 some amazing places in the lakes, wales, scotland etc and you get to appreciate the subtle differences between all these places.

Really enjoyed this video, thank you for sharing this. As someone who also struggles I can definitely relate, I find being outdoors helps to clear my mind, and camping takes away all the nonsense that we have around us in daily life. Just a night away can totally refresh our mindsets. I really hope you are doing ok, you seem like a very genuine and nice guy, I wish you all the best for the future No matter how hard each day can be, if we reach the next day, we have achieved something. I have pulled myself out of some extremely difficult times by just trying to reach the next day, and the next, and the next Hope to see more of your videos Take care 🙏

This music has a very old school JRPG vibe. What is it? Also right with you and many in the comments as I can relate in some way to the issues you have raised. Riding a motorbike helps me stay in a good place and I hope to get more camping done in the near future.

Ey up me duck. No that's not a joke, this is genuinely how I start most of my videos and also what I call most people so purely a coincidence, lol. *Nottingham born and bred though I'm now just over the border in Derbyshire. I came across your channel and this video by chance and am glad I watched it. I'm also a life long sufferer of mental health and occasionally talk about it on my channel as I'm a strong believer in getting people to talk, especially men. I think camping, walking, anything outdoors is definitely a massive help for mental health so yes I think it will help you tremendously as will getting that vital vitamin D from the sunlight. Maybe we could do a meet up and camp together sometime fella. Ay a good'un me owd. 👍🙂

Ey up me Duck! :D Glad to meet you and thank you for taking the time to share your story. It helps to know I'm not alone in this, so thank you. It is so important for men to talk and I hope by showing others, I can help at least one man open up. I will check out your channel!
