Man I had one almost exactly like this but mine was a 125cc if I remember correctly and she would do 80mph wound right out but it wasn't very safe to do lol because at that speed everything shook and vibrated quite violently on it but it'd do 65mph highway speeds just fine and had some "get-up-n-go" to her for a moped I could grab the front brake, stand up then pin itt and shed sit still and spin the back tire just a rolling smoke and once it got going I could sit back down and it's stay spinning then id let off the brake and take off doing a rolling burnout for like 10ft I loved that lil thing it was like a fat girl- fun as hell to ride but ya didn't want your friends to catch ya on it hahahaha then in Dec of 2008 when we had no snow for a week straight I took it out for a rip around town and had a 73yr old man pull out in front of me and stop and I was doing around 45-50mph couldn't stop but had both wheels locked right up till I t-bones his car which landed me in the hospital for 3 n half months because I shoved 4 ribs through my thoracic aorta (heart) and after multiple surgeries they finally put me back together and my wrist has titanium plates and bolts in it, missing half the muscle of my lower left leg and took me over a year to learn to walk again... thankfully I was able to get a lawyer and unfortunately they didn't fight real hard for me so I ended up getting 90k settlement of which I got 54k sucks because I can't walk or stand for very long and it completely changed how I live my life... I guess I'm just grateful to be alive 🙏

These will run fine if you take care of them. I’ve put well over 10k km on a couple examples and they still ran fine when I sold em. Yes, that dash reads in km. These things generally get a bad rep over little things going wrong, then it stops running and the owner doesn’t know what to do.. it’s almost always something simple and cheap. I rode these things exclusively for several years.. fixed up a couple heaps in that time, rebuilt a couple engines, ect. Just be sure it’s not running too hot.. I disintegrated a piston that way once. I still daily two wheelers, it’s just a Honda 250 at The moment. Also, that is a scooter. Mopeds have pedals. No peds= not moped. I just bought a PCC Amor 50 from a guy who put a 70cc BBK on it. The carb was crappy, so I bought a new one(20mm), along with a new variator (6.5g rollers) and belt, and it is amazing now. Takes off like a car and can climb hills at 35mph. I think the full throttle jet needs attention though. Idles great, and then great low end power, but full throttle doesn't have any more power than say 1/2 throttle.. I will pull my spark plug to see which way it needs to be tuned. Timely video for sure. I got mine to make deliveries because 13mpg sucks...
@andrewwitham54052 жыл бұрын
There is usually a small spacer between the two halves of the variator (front pulley). It stops the two halves closing fully up and serves as a top speed restricter by limiting the effective “high”speed gearing. Remove it and you will have taller gearing and faster top speed. Low speed take off from a standstill is unaffected.
@bevis2262 жыл бұрын
Yep remove the spacer and put a cheap 24mm? Mikuni clone carb off of amazon it and it will do 70mph tops with a 150lb rider on a flat road. My POS 50cc scooter rips lol. Performance Exhaust helps a good bit as well. Remove the EGR restricted exhaust. My next upgrade is 100cc big bore kit. It needs more bottom end torque. It's still pretty darn slow going up hills.
@Fredjoe52 жыл бұрын
The 3 most common methods of restriction are the variator, the CDI, and also the exhaust. Many times a small restrictor is placed in the exhaust where the manifold bolts to the muffler. It can either be simply placed in there, or is sometimes tack welded in place. Removing that gives the full performance.

As soon as I looked at this scooter, I thought get the old crappy gas out of it before even turning it over. And check to see if there is any oil in it. Those were my first two initial thoughts. The green wire is the rpm restrictor wire, to solder it together had nothing to do with firing this thing up. The spark was uneven on the first check for spark, because the plug wasn't grounded well enough. If the wrong wire had been cut, there would be no spark at all. My own scooter has two restrictors, one for MPH, that cuts the RPM back to 6800 @ 28 mph and if the wind is right, the road is right, you might hit 30. The second actually has a plug connection to be about to remove the cv cover, that limits max rpm to 7200. Its easy to pull out the wire at the cdi, and it can be pushed back in, no damage done. Obviously, unplug the second. This lets the thing free rev to over 9000 rpm, though in riding the bike, it rarely hits 8000, It hovers a lot around 7200 or even less, but the ability to rev lets the cvt close up, then you can pull the throttle back, is why. It hits 8000 or 8200 on long down hill wot. Just riding around town, there is more pull either way, but isn't much difference in power, if to just pull the wire at the cdi or to pull both restrictor wires. But in more open road riding is where the second disconnect is noticed. It can hit near 40 this way. However I have not as yet touched the cvt. This bike I've owned for less than a year, it's barely getting broken in. Glad you got it running, at least !!

I just picked up a modified 2022 ruckus a couple weeks ago I’ve put 666 miles on it as of this moment and 6.6 gallons of fuel in which has cost $29.78 if my calculations are correct it comes out to 101 mpg average and $0.0447 per mile which is slightly more then the 2021 Tesla model 3 plus extended range RWD which according to online was the cheapest electric car to operate in 2021 at $0.0308 per mile. I couldn’t find anything for 2022 models. Things a blast I highly recommend getting one to anyone looking at them or interested in anything similar

I hve to watch my kids moped all the time, last time it did 85mph he is only allowed to go 28mph i think that's right. The market to change them is huge.

That wire is probably the governor if I had to guess. Usually a pink or purple wire though

If you use a torch on the faded plastic it works really good and lasts at least 8 months I did it to my buddies truck on his bumper and then he sold it about 8 months later and it was still the deep black it should be

An excellent buy. (2,000 miles over 9 years? Not even 5 miles per week)... Cost to put it back on the road? Some carb cleaner...

I see it pretty often, people want to call these mopeds. They aren't. They are scooters. A mopeds has pedals, a scooter doesn't.

check your clutch. maybe there is a limiter installed there too. it schould look like a matel tube kind of thing. a vario limiter. with the cut wire and no limiter you should be able to go faster.
