You may already know this but if you don't .... on the racing fuel can you can pull out the plastic where the fuel comes out so you don't spill it all over the place... when you're done you can push it back into the can. @ 29:40

be carefull parts are not existant anymore in france we have them road legal in the 450cc version and people swap the engine for the 300 2 stroke ktm engine often (same as the gasgas one) cause u cant buy part for the 450cc anymore and even the gasgas 300 its hard to get parts, frame parts u can forget they dont exist anymore so the value of them has droped. i could have bought a couple of them between 1000 and 2500€ (road legal) but didnt have the cash at that moment. they are cool very good frame wide good oem ohlin suspension brembo brakes really the best OEM quad i have seen witth quality parts from the factory

I owned 1 back in 2006 for a few years. I desert raced it and it did really well. Only problem was getting parts. Expensive and hard to get.

Graves motorsports used my quad to pattern that seat cover. I raced a little motoX & GP in the PNW back then & was even in some parts of the video "Quad Jockeys" with it. Still have the quad too. The power valve chamber on the side of the cylinder(helps bottom end torque) is by LT Racing, they also made water pump impellers, lowering links for the rear suspension, and case savers for the front spocket. The stock water pump impellers would melt if it overheated at all. Even in stock trim they are amazingly fun dunes machines too.

That Quad was sold under the moniker " wild hp " and the distributor network was thin at best in the U.S. now that KTM purchased gas gas it will open up a huge dealer network and you'll see allot more gas gas in this country.

ow yeah usa they are rare there. i forget cause in france they are not rare and pretty cheap cause gasgas doesnt existe anymore and parts are impossible to find.... they are cool quads i had a frame with a klx650 engine but it was a bad swap but damn the frame is so wide suspension is FIRE brakes work great. compared to my banshee stock the banshee frame suspension brakes sucks ass... i think gasgas is the only quad that comes stock with aftermarket parts and wide a arms

It's a 2-smoker. Don't need change that tranny oil nearly as often as 4-stroke machines where the oil is lubricating the *entire* engine. Primary lubrication is from oil in gas on 2-strokes thus use good full synthetic premix oil & keep the premix *FRESH* .
The jetting sounds spot on and the rear tires are hooking up nicely.

My buddies got the Enduro bike version of this, 300 2 stroke its a beast, He bought it brand new in 2003, Laid it down once under warranty and to get the warranty work done it had to go back to Spain. He still rides it today.

I think it may have a replaced hood as well. Looks to be a fourwerx hood. I’m almost positive those came stock with some type of small, windshield like hood. Super cool bike, and ultra rare. Definitely one hell of a keeper

The jetting sizes seem small. Could be a 200 or 250cc lrd cylinder and pipe. The expansion chamber doesn't look like the right size for a 300cc setup

My experience with the pre 2019 Gas Gas stuff is that they are a tiny bit Under powered for there CCs. A 250R with the the same gearing will keep up with it. It's no Banshee but they are not a bad machine. Since KTM bought Gas Gas, parts availability has increased significantly.

Hell yeah! Nice quad. Use the other side of your caliper (depth dipstick) to measure float height. Also set the idle on a fully warmed engine.

So those front shocks are still Ohlins, just revalved and re sprung. Probably converted to long travel by the company on the sticker. That cylinder is ported I’m sure by LRD to match the pipe. I’ve followed these for along time. Always wanted one. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s bored over as well.

I am from Spain Joe, i have been following your work since your begginings. Finally you got one of those, i have been waiting a long time for this !!! Those things are pretty rare even here, in Spain. Engine is the same as Gas Gas Ec 300 from 1997 to 2003. Congratulations!!! Now you got to get a Gas Gas Ec 250 from that years, i got one of them and it is a gem.

yeah sucks gasgas stoped making them... parts are also very hard to come by, alot of gasgas wild hp in france doh, the 450cc are road legal often people frame swap it to make a 300cc road legal. they still expensive for something u cant buy parts for but cheap compared ot any other 2 stroke quad. between 2000€ for a 450cc (cause parts dont existe) to 3500€ for a 300cc frame swaped with licence plate etc i really wanted one but parts man it sucks not worth spending so much money on the quad if i cant fix it if i break it

Love your channel i grew up riding cr 250' s and love 2 strokes and 4 strokes. This Gas Gas 300cc is a pure monster, ive watched you ride cr 500's and other bikes but this quad is insanely fast. I know a thing or too about 2 stroke and 4 but ive learned alot watching yr channel all the way over in Carlisle uk

It’s sort of funny how many people say oh it has a fresh oil change on a two stroke. The only lubrication the piston and crank get are from the fuel, sure the transmission needs care too but has nothing to do with the top end.

You can hear the amount of ⚾️🏀 this thing has. On a two-stroke, there's always somewhere in the power that you have to give up, but this thing sounds like it has no weaknesses throughout the powerband from start to finish. Incredible.

It's a mx quad. They run a 20x7-10 front and 18×10-8 rear most of the time in mx. Don't speak if you don't know

@@insanetaco98 yes and no. The guy extended the travel in the front. This is two fold, for ice racing it gives you more traction in the rear which is what you need to race. That sucker does look goofy, some sort of giraffe. They don't look that bizarre from the factory

His Riding style is like he's riding a 4 stroke, he alway's short shift's 1/2 throttle if u are a 2 stroke rider u can hear it, he's never "on the Pipe" if His brother Chuck ride's it, u would see a difference alone

You don't know how to drive a 2 stroke either then. 2 Stroke's are suppose to be revved up to power band, not shifted just before at 1/2 throttle, Joe shift's then the next shift is like 10-15 foot I can visually see and hear it definitely short shift. You can just put a clear hose on the brake nipple and keep the res full and watch. It will gravity bleed on its own.

My honest opinion, which doesn’t really amount to shit, is that a fresh tecate motor will out perform a fresh gas gas 300. Have never owned a gas gas 300 but the older ktm300 360 and the 380 engines are very similar.

A dealer that sold Chinese quads also sold these in Tucson, They had one of these in their show room, it was about $7000 in 2003. They had those Kasea 250 quads for $2000.

You might try cutting that c12 with non-ethanol 93 and see if it runs the same. My CR500 didn't ping mixing c12 with clear 93. I know it depends on dome and squish but it would be worth trying. Can really stretch an $70 can of c12 when cutting it 50/50.

Those cylinders didn't come with LRD on them. LRD (now known as LED Performance) did the porting on that cylinder

2 of them are sitting in my garage in pristine condition 😉 they are a rendition of the 250r and alot faster than a stock 250r. The aftermarket support is pretty slim on them but there are some cross compatible parts you can get and you can beef up the motors on them too. If built properly they walk 450s and have the power of a dirtbike motor

Great find--that's a keeper. I have an 04 GG 300 and they are amazing machines. The engine is torquey but revs to the moon. The Brembo brakes are the best I've ever felt. One upgrade you can do is a high compression S3 head--looks like you have the stock. They still make them. That engine comes from the GG EC 300--a dirt bike--so many of the same parts work. I also got rid of the stock (boyesen) intake and installed a Vforce, which is the same as the Honda CR 250. It gave it a more crisp throttle response.

I raced the woods agains one around 2005. He flat out smoked the whole field at the Reno race track in Ohio. Finished a few min ahead of everyone at the XC track. I believe the guy who raced it was Eric Lemly.

Wouldn't have been better to start on the left side? Bleed from furthest away to closest to the master cylinder? And if you pull on the white part of the race gas can it pops out a lil spout to help you pour out of the can. Small exhaust leak on the exhaust bung on start up. Badass bike!

Don't pump the brakes with the bleeder open, you're sucking air in that way. Pump it 2 times and hold it..open bleeder, close it, pump it, hold it, open,close pump again and again..

He's basically giving it the half-a$$ed way of bleeding the brakes through the master cylinder instead of using the individual lines. He'll likely leave a small amount of air only because his method sucks.

I bet there is a hairline Crack in the brass overflow pipe. Check it by blowing in one end and plugging the other. You can solder it or push the trimmer gas line over the pipe, but soldering is recommended.

Not sure if this has been posted already but this is a 200cc top end on it. It used to have a T-Pin front end on it and a bunch of other nice parts. Whoever bought it pulled all the nice stuff assuming for their 400ex and posted it for sale.

I’ve only seen one of these for sale on Marketplace. It was in pieces and missing a ton of parts. I almost bought it but decided not to because tracking down the rest of the parts to restore would have taken years and that’s years of dead space in my garage.

I been watching some amazing rebuilds in China. Where they take swamp bikes and turn them into amazing machines. Simply by using sandblasting, tig welding and paint to restore them. I can't believe the condition in some of these rusted motors, that are fully restored.

I have been racing with differrent gasgas motocross and enduro bikes and I absolutly love this brand. I dont know if this has same engine as my old EC 300cc 2-stroke. Sadly the newer gasgas are just KTM copies.

I want to build a motorcycle with a dirt bike or atv 2 cycle, because the 2 cycle motorcycles that where made in the 1970's people are selling at a outrageous prices.

I almost bought one of these brand new . My local dealer here in SC had one on show room floor when I was I think 30 ish . These have hurt you powerrr for a 300.

Looks like a foam float like is used in later model domestic carbureted cars and trucks from the 70's and 80's. Shaking tests nothing as their not hollow. You need to check the float weight against the spec if available. Look for small dings and dents as they can cause the float to sink later.

I forgot all about these honestly they killed in the 250R class moto race bracket I seen these run against some of the 400ex with the 440 big bore kits and they beat em a lot of times they had a really wide power and to em
