People think Chicago the city is only downtown. We are literally known for being the city of neighborhoods. Logan Square is a neighborhood.

I grew up a few miles south. Logan Square is on the Northwest Side of the city. It was originally settled by Polish, German, and Scandavian , and Belgian communities.

I dunno about "fully"! I went in to get my eyes checked near the Logan Square monument and the appointment was fully bilingual. 50/50 Spanish/English speaking. The English speaking people were a black family. I live on the west edge of Logan Square, arguably my house IS the gentrification, but it looks more like the start of it over here than the end of it... Our neighbors are a multi generational Mexican family, our restaurants serve pozole, churros and jibaritos... It's still pretty cool over here i love it!

I am in love with the bath in the guest bedroom on the 2nd floor. That pink/blush color tile and the light from the skylight seems so natural, I'd never feel a desire to get out of there! She was very fortunate to find the warehouse with so much skylight space that she was able to work into the design (I suspect there were added skylights as well to round out the design).

It's definitely a place in search of a specific owner. It must be incredibly difficult to imagine how to make a warehouse a home, so like all lofts, the vibe is eclectic, the divisions somewhat forced. It's nice that the designer both leaned into having that freedom and was at the same time able to create interesting divisions!

Growing up in Chicago, I recall when an area named Halsted St and Lake St were all warehouses, as a young person. Fast forward 25-30 years latet, I am amazed by the lofts and other living spaces in the area.

It's swanky and fresh. I honestly feel like it could use a bit more living-in, but other than that, it's lovely. I'm sure they staged like.... 10% (just stripping out anything that's personal and sensitive, or not for public consumption.) But yeah, I dig it. Heating the floor also means it won't expand and contract nearly as much either, so it should in theory last much longer with very minimal maintenance. The bookcase DESERVES to be full of books though... Seriously, that is a bookcase meant for serious habitual readers.

Pulaski happena not be a residential street at this time, though. In the coming years, we'll probably see some apartments with groundfloor retail replace the warehouses, auto repair busiensses, check cashing businesses, roofing supplies, and public storage places. She did a really nice job with this.

Before I moved to Illinois, I'd say this was NOT Chicago. Chicago is Chicago. Now I understand it might be considered Chicago to people in Illinois, but at the end of the day, people pay to say they're in Chicago-- not a burb or neighborhood. Like NY, NY vs. Brooklyn, NY. Manhattan vs. across the water makes a BIG difference.

Before I lived in New York, I thought ONLY Manhattan was the city, but after living there I realized when someone says the city they could mean just Manhattan or any of the 5 boroughs. Same with Chicago. Many people consider ONLY CHICAGO as Chicago, some consider the surrounding areas as Chicago. I personally don’t consider Cicero and Lincoln park as the city, but I know some people who do, for example. No one is really right or wrong, it’s a language thing

I thought the style seemed familiar would be an AV design and her home even interesting and she isn't even showing it off herself ;) She put more of the french style than she does in the properties she develops :) So is she selling it? it will be well made and functional I can say that of her designs a lot of thought put into them it may not work for some people but it is her own home. I can see why she is selling though the outside of home environment would make me sell. A shame as it's a nice home just in a terrible area :) sure anyone buying will see potential it could have with a change of decor that suits their style.

They're buying in Logan Square and west on Armitage in old industrial neighborhoods, too. Some want a huge space where they can do imaginative things. But, like you, I'd rather have Lincoln Park, Near North, Streeterville, Lakeview, or even South Loop, Edgewater, West Ridge, Ravenswood, or Peterson Woods anytime.

100% this building is in Logan Square. Across the street, on the west side of Pulaski is not Hermosa but Belmont Gardens.
