Awesome little video. Something different for us all. Thanks for answering the question too. See you in the next one. Hope you’re keeping well!

Would be an interesting video to hear about the work you did before and currently, such as the print business, and voice over work and whatever else you did. I've always been curious what you did and currently do.

Very interesting video Rick. My mum died about twenty years ago and the very last picture I had of her unfortunately had a white line right through it but I still really wanted another print and so took it into a photo shop and just asked for a print. When I collected it I was amazed that the print was perfect with no white line running through it. To me it was like a miracle. It’s all framed up now and very treasured. I bet your business really did well, I guess everyone has old photos they’d like improved. Very well done Rick xx

I remember one old pic I had redone after my mom passed. It was one of those faded color pics from the 60's. (My parents used to joke those bad pics were Ansco film. It was derogatory cuz we lived near Kodak!) Anyway, I took it to this "lab" for color correction. I took it back and said "You've made my mom look like a Spanish princess! For God's sake she's an English lady!" Anyway, her brownette hair was jet black, but the young woman had no clue what I meant. It was finally fixed though! 😄

I'm enjoying your new videos and am so glad you decided to keep us entertained! I do have trouble hearing you though. I could hear you much better in the old videos. Not sure if it's the new mic? Granted, my laptop speakers aren't the best but they're turned up all the way and I still struggle.

it's because rick is using his professional, i-can-put-you-to-sleep-in-2-minutes voice. it's too soft and whisper-y for a normal conversation.

The best part of the video came at the end: That you got out and visited with your people! What a satisfying conclusion. It was fun to see how the printing process works, though. Slice of life videos are very interesting.

Fascinating stuff, Rick. That is so cool that you have that equipment at home in order to do these restorations. I have been thinking of converting some of my old family slides to digital and also to paper for ages, so you have motivated me to do it this summer. I have a carousel of my Dad's 50 yr old Kodak slides of my family, in storage, and I have always wanted them more accessible in either digital or paper. you've given me some ideas! I think it might be a better investment for me to actually get the equipment that converts digital/slides/etc. to another form, than to pay a company to do it? Usually they charge several dollars per photo image.....hmmmmmm

these last few videos illustrate my preference for chat. do something with people and the topics for chat will happen naturally. if i sit down with anyone with the sole purpose of chatting i have nothing to say and they have to work very hard to make conversation happen. they fail. keep taking us along on your daily tasks.

That was really interesting. It looks like setting up something like this from scratch could be quite expensive.

Very nice work indeed. Was the A.I an app or website or something within your own software?

Thanks, it’s called stable diffusion, you install it on your PC 👍

What was your 9 to 5 job before you left to be a self employed printer? Did you do a course in photo printing as its quite technical at professional level, working on setting up profiles for optimum results with different paper types. Both of those printers have the same 1,200 DPI x 2,400 DPI scanner. I just bought a newer A4 Epson EcoTank ET-8500 with 6 six ink colours which will help give a better result, its scanner 1,200 DPI x 4,800 DP. They do a larger A3 ET-8550 with the same specs which would better suit your needs.

Great info regarding the updated printers. If ever I turned pro again, I’ll consider upgrading but as somebody who already owns 4 printers, not sure I could justify another upgrade just yet haha! I was a precision engineer for 10+ years before stepping out 😊👍

@@rickvanman You could always sell on those two old printers. Was that working for the big Honda plant in Swindon?

Very interesting video Rick. I do quite a lot of photo restoration (as a hobby mainly) Which ai software do you use can I ask?
@rickvanman3 ай бұрын
No problem, i used stable diffusion via automatic1111, the upscaler if memory serves was the ESRGAN x4 😊👍

An interesting video. You gave a family member a home printed gift voucher so they could ask you to home print them a photo and then used AI to do all the corrective work 😂

Thought about it last night actually, but then we seem to have grey skies for what seems like 98% of the time. It’s a question of allowing a clear sky to coincide with the time I can do filming, but the intention is to do more at some point

I think the screens you're using in this video are low and causing you to have a rounded shoulder posture.
@rickvanman3 ай бұрын
It does look like that, but it’s actually the wide angle lens on the GoPro camera 😂🤣

Still NO gaming for my pleasure, but this time you were doing photography type of things which I enjoy. So I can give you a pass for this video! Hey, I'll take what I can get, it's better than watering your plants...there I said it, debate me LOL. Hang in there friend.
