16 minutes in, you say its for us, and i hope i speak for all of us, we appreciate it, its one of the things i love about August, you guys filming your work is almost more fun for me than doing any tree work , i reference you guys to my guys all the time, constantly talking about your videos, i hope some day i reach your guys "calm" and start sharing more than i do now, when production can back off a little. keep up the great work! soon as i get my PayPal account figured out ( its locked out for some reason ?! ) I'm gonna put in my order for a proper buckin' special!!

This reminds me of being in the woods with my dad. We would assess the lean and each put a empty can out where we thought the tree would land.

A good rule of thumb, if your not very skilled and worried about pinching the bar when the compression is on the top, drop a wedge in the kerf to keep it from closing. It takes more time, but not as much as time as getting the bar un-pinched. Long time fallers like Buckin' make it look easy, but it can be intimidating for new sawyers.

Great camera placement and judgement; You NAILED IT ! While I don't have the time or the opportunity, I KNOW I don't have the ability, thinking process or the knowledge of a Buckin Billy Ray to take on felling a tree anywhere near the size of the ones you tackle as every day routine. But that's fine for me! I come here to WATCH THE PROFESSIONALS, and live vicariously through KZbin, and Buckin Billy Ray !

I've noticed in a lot of your videos that when you're putting in the first horizontal cut for the notch, you'll stop and sight down the handle of your saw to make sure the face is lined up with where you want the tree to go. Great idea, never thought of doing that, thanks!

Best way to gauge the height of a tree is take your ax or a small limb stick about arms length long and hold it out at arms length. The bask up and move the stick until it covers both the top and bottom of the tree. At that point you are standing the same distance from the tree as it is tall. Geometry! It's accurate to within a a foot. Try it
