Kinda embarassed since I am 67 yrs. old and just now in life want to learn how to sew. My grandmothers and mother all sewed but I wasn't interested in learning; UGH!!! Now, my 27 yr. old daughter and I will start this journey starting this new year. We'll see what happens. Fingers crossed.

I am an avid garment sewer (for 60 plus years), tailor trained at F.I.T., and purchased the Bernette Academy b05 in May of 2023...I love, love it...since I sew mostly knits, I really use a lot of the stretch stitches for seams, top stitching & hems. The stitches are so easy to work with and the stitch quality is perfect. The machine is easy to maintain as well...I'm really pleased I made the purchase!

I absolutely love how fun and informative your videos are. I found your channel 3 years ago and I was thinking “dang, I wish I had a sewing machine.” Last spring, while in Goodwill, I saw a Brother sewing machine…for $25!! I snatched it up and have been working on sewing ever since. Your videos are my motivation to keep trying, see different small project but not to be afraid to get out there and do it. Thanks 💛

I have been thinking sbout getting a sewing machine despite having two machines in storage. Sewing always meant shagginng and thread disasters. Also a lower back ache. My daughter sews standing and she avoids the backache.

Back in 2013 I purchased a HV mechanical machine as a backup for my computerized sewing machine. I purchased the Eden Rose, a limited edition similar to the Emerald with additional stitches and extra feet. All the features you described were available on my model, and I have not been disappointed. I had hoped to introduce a granddaughter to the joy of sewing, to no avail, but I have a wonderful machine to take with me to classes, etc. Great Video!

I have the Husqvarna Viking Emerald 116 (one step down from the one you reviewed but very similar) and it's great. Great for beginners but I've been sewing on mine for 10+ years and it's great. I sew everything from denim, workout gear, vinyl, just everything, and it's such a great little machine! Was happy to see you recommend it! I've recommended it to many of my sewing students looking to get their first machine.

Even though I've been (hand) sewing since I was a little girl & have always loved to sew, I went decades without sewing & then was finally gifted a machine a few years back & finally purchased a brand new machine 4 years ago. I bought the Husqvarna 116 & love it. I've still never used a serger (too scared of all that threading lol) I also still don't use patterns lol 🤦🏾♀️ Love this review!! 💜

Yeah, I think even more of us are afraid of sergers. I’ve been wanting a cover stitch machine for years, but the learning curve scares me.

Also wanted to share I made another "not so ugly sweater" with the replaced sheer sleeves. That makes 3 for me, so now I have one in lavender, black & dark purple. Thank you so much for all the inspo!!!💜💜💜

I'm so happy to see someone show beginners something other than dreadful bottom-of-the-range "this is what I started with so you have to suffer like I did" rubbish. The only thing they do is end up with an audience of upset beginners who find out very quickly that they can't upcycle jeans. I'd also like to throw the Pfaff select with IDT into the mix, it's a high-end mechanical with a built in walking foot and it's especially good on leather.

Husqvarna machines are built to last. I had a Husqvarna that lasted me 20 years, and the only reason I don’t have it is it wasn’t working anymore, and it was so old that they didn’t make parts for it anymore. 🙁 I got a Brother Project Runway machine, which is an okay machine, but I get jamming and thread popping out of the needle when I’m not doing a straight stitch - problems that I NEVER had with my Husqvarna. I’m planning on purchasing either a new Husqvarna or a BabyLock.

WELL I BEEN HAVING MY SINGER HD4411 AND I LOVE HER! I HAD HER FOR A YEAR NOW (JANUARY 1ST SHE WILL BE ONE YEAR OLD THAT WAS WHEN I FIRST STARTED SEWING ON HER) I WAS A BEGINNER SEWEST AND I DESIGN AND CREATE CANVAS TOTE BAGS (CHASSIEDOT CREATIONS NEW LOOKBOOK VIDEO COMING OUT TOMORROW!) EVER SINCE I GOT MY SINGER I BEEN HOOKED ON SEWING AND IT IS SOMETHING I ALWAYS WANTED TO GET BACK INTO (I AM 63 YEARS OLD AND THE FIRST TIME I EVER TOUCHED A SEWING MACHINE WAS WHEN I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL AND IT WAS SOMETHING I ALWAYS WANTED TO GET BACK INTO. SO, HERE I AM. BUT, I KNOW ONE DAY I WILL WANT TO ADVANCE AND UPGRADE TO A HIGHER LEVEL MACHINE. LOVE YOUR VIDEOS SWEETIE! I WATCH THEM ALL! I WANT TO GET TO YOUR LEVEL AND ONE DAY OPEN UP A BOUTIQUE. THE JOURNEY CONTINUES!

@SewingandCaring8 ай бұрын
I have that singer and it's a fantastic machine, you'll be hard-pressed to find an upgrade which makes a nicer sound AND I''ll let you into a secret, the 4411 is the best machine out there for using elastic thread like maraflex in both top and bottom. This means you can sew stretch and knits on a normal straight stitch and treat them like you would a woven which will never fray.

@@maddonut621 Oh hen, this is all about hand position. You want your right hand in front of the needle and your left hand to the left of it. You never pull from the back and let the feed dogs do the work. Turn the machine off when you are doing anything with the needle and I promise you it's impossible to sew your finger. How your mother-in-law managed to sew her fingers, in plural, is actually some sort of sewing wall of fame achievement. I don't think anyone else has ever managed to do that in history.
