Hello to the run experience group. I want to say thank you for your videos. I completed my first half marathon,St Jude, in Dec and it is because of your videos that I knew how to train properly. Your videos make it possible for people like me who cannot afford to pay for personal trainers to stay informed. Keep up the good work. May God bless you all!!

Watch your videos and read your emails Nate. They're very useful though I wont be signing up for anything yet. You guys have so much stuff out there that I fear I'd be overwhelmed. but I get a lot from your videos. That core exercise is brilliant - the one where you keep your legs up and your arms up behind you for 3 sets of 1 minute with 30 secs rest in between. They're killers - i can manage about 3 x sets of 45 secs so far. A nice target to aim towards. Definitely more videos showing you learning in progress too (e.g the wobble knee in this video) - these things encourage me to keep at it.

Great videos as always! One topic I'd like to see covered is how to improve in distances like the mile or 1500. With summer here, there are plenty of All-Comer track meets so it is a great time of year to practice at the mile. Many people might not even be aware of these All-Comer events, so it would be good exposure to this part of the running community. Thanks!

Update: after 3 or 4 workouts doing these, i started getting knee pain - jumping up and down steps was just too taxing on my knees....switching to doing just single leg 1/4 squats and reverse lunges - much easier on the knees.

sounds like shin splints (i guess you know this already). He's put one up about this and there are lots of other videos on it. Its a bugger as I've had it recently, but I seem to be coming out of it now. What side of your shin has the pain?
@rickc2222

I had that problem too when i first started running - it was all technique - tilt your head up and back and put your shoulders slightly back (still somewhat relaxed/natural though) and keep your back straight - NO SLOUCHING! Doing this will take the weight off your toes and put it more toward your heels, shifting your center of gravity just a few inches back - makes a massive difference. My shin pain was eliminated by doing this.

Great video! So, when doing the single leg jump on the box, when landing on the box is it a squat like movement or a somewhat stiff stabilizing movement....does my question make sense? I tried them out today and it felt like a squat landing like movement
@TheRunExperience
@TheRunExperience 7 жыл бұрын
It should be somewhere in between. Land in enough of a squat that you feel balanced and stable, but not so low that you can stand up out of it.

This is great for cyclists too I think. Thanks I was looking for an efficient exercise to help rehab my sprained ankle, but also wanted to include knee proprioception too. Question: I normally was doing 4 sets of 10 squats with dumbbells every 3rd day. Adding 9 sets of 1/4 squats on top of that is obviously overdoing it - should I quit the weighted squats completely or just pare it down to 1 or 2 sets now, in addition to these 9 sets of 1/4 squats? (my only goal is to be strong for cycling, hill climbing, and rehab my ankle, I dont care about bodybuilding or lifting heavy)
