Started my health journey on September 1st, 2022, at 480 pounds and 69% body fat on high blood pressure medication, A1C at 6.9, and sleep apnea. Today, January 1st, 2025, im at 270 pounds with 34% no longer on high blood pressure medication, A1C at 5.1, and no more sleep apnea. Changed my nutrition to prioritize protein by eating 250g of protein a day and started daily walks after each meal. I started taking Mounjaro, and it helped relieve my joint pain and help me eat less. Feeling better added strength training by doing farmer walks, suite case carries, and overhead carries to start. In the last two months, i added the big 5 lifts 4 times a week. 1. Front n back barbell squats. 2. Barbell overhead press 3. Wide n close grip Incline bench. 4. Barbell Bent over rows 5. Traditional and sumo deadlifts. I start by doing farmer walks and suite case carries n overhead carries. I feel so much stronger and working to get below 30% body fat. 2.

Thank you guys so much for your podcast. Just after my 4th child was born in August I decided to take my health seriously again. I regret it taking so long. I am 6’1 and was 251 lbs. very fat. In just over 4 months I am already down to 229 and have added crazy amounts of muscle which is very noticeable to my family and friends. I look and feel so much better already. I can’t wait to keep going. It’s fun now. Your podcast has been great to learn from and it makes me feel like I’m hanging with the guys having positive talk. I feel like you guys are also great family men with the right overall mindsets and respect you as men in general. Really appreciate you guys.

I've been telling my kids not to believe the USDA guidelines for years. I went Paleo in 2012 after I learned my gallbladder problems was because I am gluten sensitive. I've learned so much more since then.

Contrary to popular belief, the University of Florida did not come up with the sports drink that is now known as Gatorade. The team doctor for the FSU football team, Dr. R.A. Johnson, began producing a sports drink that he called "Seminole Firewater" as early as 1962. Dr. Johnson blended sugar and lime flavoring with electrolytes (salts) to help keep the players hydrated and to prevent cramping. In 1964 at an annual Seminar of Collegiate sports physicians and athletic trainers held in Tallahassee, Fl., a representative from the University of Florida found out about the discovery that sodium and potassium keeps athletes better hydrated because it gives back to the body what is lost through sweat. They returned to Gainesville and, after being tested on the UF football players, the name "Gatorade" was given. The University of Florida requested a certified patent in 1967 for the drink that Dr. Johnson had freely shared with the public.

Big thanks to the show runners, my best guys from mind the pump, I'm living in Russia and watching at least 1 episode a day to fuel up my english but im not only learned a great part of it throught your shows but I started eating clean sleeping well and exercising two to three times a week regularly even tho it took me throught lots of ups and down with consistency. Your advices are legit and valuable unfortunatelly here loads of folks are on gear and they give away absolutely garbage advices for sports and life. We will carry your knowledge and improve it so people be healthier and happier. I dumped doom scrolling my phone and sh`t and have become so happier because of you. There haven't been a person in my life who would've influenced me in the way you guys did, for the best of course! Cooking, techniques, everything has so much value!

I just got a blood test back and the only issue with it is I have high cholesterol. I eat a lot of red meat, chicken, and eggs. I'm worried my doctor's going to tell me to stop eating like I have been. I track my macros and eat a whole food diet. I've been eating in a surplus for over a year and lifting weights for 2 years. I listen to all the advice the MP guys give and I've only gotten fatter and more out of shape. WTF?! I'm at a complete loss as to what to do and where to go from here.

Seems like there is more to this story, too much of a healthy thing is not good either, even then overeating only the foods that you mentioned is unlikely to cause you any health problems, so it might be something else. Other foods? Stress? Lack of sleep?
@stinkyham9050
@stinkyham9050 3 күн бұрын
@@a.4536I've got a balanced diet. I eat a lot of sweet potatoes, green beans, brussel sprouts, rice, etc. I take my kids to get ice cream on Sunday but I doubt I've got high cholesterol from eating ice cream once a week. My sleep could be better but it's not terrible. There's definitely something else going on but I can't figure out what. I've adjusted everything in my life to build muscle but nothing grows except for my stomach. I even cut back on lifting weights from 6 day a week splits to 3 days a week full body. I followed Maps anabolic and ended up in even worse shape. I even had a personal trainer at one point. I'm beyond frustrated with my lack of success and the high cholesterol test is just the extra kick in the balls that I didn't need for my morale.

Following. My cholesterol and Apo b skyrocketed (per blood test panel in November) after going animal based since July and I’m retesting next month to see if the numbers are going down by adding more fiber (as doctor suggested). She was puzzled as to why my diet would cause this since I’m a healthy weight and exercise regularly. Before going animal based I ate low carb or paleo.

Egg yolks and other high cholesterol foods also increase my cholesterol especially LDL. I know this for sure as I took bloodwork on a high cholesterol diet and a reduced cholesterol diet with more fats from olive oil etc. I had a 60% lower LDL after 3 or 4 month. When I came back to my original high cholesterol food plan my LDL went back up in the 400mg/dl region. But despite having high cholesterol since nearly 15 years and only short breaks due to such experiments I have no sign of arteriosklerosis when I got checked last year (ultrasound neck, lower body and others). So I think what causes Arteriosklerosis is primarily inflammation in the blood vessels in conjunction with high blood pressure (I typically have low BP). But I could be wrong and death is behind the corner. Nevertheless I still eat egg yolk and such stuff due to it's various benefits as my test results seem positive despite having high LDL

You should look at a video Dr Ken Berry did on cholesterol. Cholesterol is only part of the equation, the more important factor is the ratio of cholesterol and triglycerides. I’m not going to try butchering the explanation

Great show once again - as always! One thought though: most intelligent people know about this “best” information rotation - the real trick is to tell us about something that we all believe in today (peptides perhaps?) that will be disproven as beneficial or worse, harmful, down the road, unless you believe there will be no new revelations.

Excessive dietary cholesterol is in fact bad for you. People with risk factors and/or family history of heart disease should not be going ham on red meats and high cholesterol containing foods. Your body doesn’t self regulate its cholesterol. I work in a cardiac intensive care unit- your doc and your cardiologist will always recommend limiting your red meat to twice a week and in portions no bigger than a a deck of cards. Why is half of America on statins ? Lipitor Crestor, simvastatin? These are prescribed to remove excess dietary cholesterol from the blood stream because cholesterol is the exact substance that sticks to your artery walls and causes heart attacks. This is especially important if you have already had a heart attack or have been diagnosed with any degree of heart disease. To say dietary cholesterol is good for you is absolutely false. We do need some but high amounts of dietary cholesterol for those at risk will absolutely be harmful. Unfortunately we don’t all have access to genetic testing to find out whether or not we have this gene and have no way to find out until after we experience a heart attack at which point irreversible damage has been done. Anti cholesterol medication isn’t just big pharma propaganda- it saves lives. Don’t listen to the bro science and low carb eaters who manipulate the data to support their steak a day diets.

@crystaldingman773 I don't have an education in health or diet, wish I did though, because it's hard to tell what information is more accurate. What are your thoughts on this podcast? Are they just going against the grain of health information?
@crystaldingman773
@crystaldingman773 2 күн бұрын
@ you mean in general? No- in general the info here is solid advice. The only thing myself and my team don’t recommend is the excessive intake of red meat - especially the fattier cuts of meat and the excessive amount of supplements. As I’m sure your aware Supplements are not regulated by the FDA so you really have no idea what your taking and the studies on long term usage for many of them just don’t exist in high enough numbers to be of any significance. Obviously I watch and enjoy the podcast. High protein, whole foods you really can’t go wrong. Avoid packaged foods- you’re better off to make your own oil and vinegar dressing. These guys also support eating grass fed beef which is lower in fats and saturated fats which is always a good idea but the medical community still advises 2 or less servings of red meat per week keeping that portion size to a deck of cards - no more than the size of your palm assuming you have an average sized hand for heart health. You could get away with a slightly larger portion if eating grass fed. There are plenty of great protein sources like Chicken and Fish, beans, Quinoa etc. Cholesterol is not as bad as we once thought and you do need some but it is not “ good” for everyone and does have negative impacts on heart health. You want to split hairs - It is the saturated fat content in red meat that is bad for you not specifically dietary cholesterol but people can rarely differentiate between two and certain people’s blood cholesterol levels do fluctuate significantly with the intake of dietary cholesterol which can increase plaque deposits in artery walls. It’s impossible to know if you are one of those people. So again - if you have heart disease, have risk factors for heart disease or a family history of heart disease- you should limit your dietary cholesterol and everyone should avoid eating large amounts of red meat because it’s high saturated fat content will increase your LDL or bad cholesterol. This blanket statement of cholesterol is good for you is just data manipulation to hear what you want to hear. I haven’t really heard too many other things on this show that I would disagree with though. Even creatine supplements are now supported by most medical professionals but there others out there that need more research before they can be recommended widespread- just make sure you research your source. I do love that you tried to get permission to incorporate buttermilk ranch into your daily routine 😊. So sorry ….. it will never be good for you. Very high calorie with zero nutritional value and also processed.

"fats arent bad for you" is too simple a statement and not holistically true. trans fats are 1000% bad for you. and saturated fats - even if it comes from whole foods - are bad for you in high doses. i think it shouldnt be any more than 10% of your daily calories, and some people are high responders who cant even eat that much without messing up their LDL (i know because i am one of them, along with all the males in my family) unsaturated fats though, go crazy
