Popcorn for dinner is a family treat and tradition since I was a kid! My parents always do tons of butter but now I use avocado oil because I think coconut oil makes it to coconutty. And I never thought of old bay! How yummy. I like mustard on my popcorn. It's so good.

Yes!! I remember you mentioned in a vlog that you added sea salt, pepper, and coconut oil to your popcorn and I've been eating it that way ever since. I started adding nooch as well but always noticed that it fell to the bottom of the bowl and never stuck to the popcorn -- now I know how to fix that! I LOVE nooch on popcorn, it reminds me of that fake cheddar powder that I used to dump on my popcorn as a kid, lol!

I make a similar popcorn, but I air pop it then spray it with a misto full of vinegar+soysauce mix, a drizzle of olive oil, and lots of nutritional yeast. So good!

I consider myself something of a popcorn connoisseur, and imo, by far the best way to make popcorn is to air pop it, and then drizzle melted coconut oil on it! Then season it however you like of course. This alway gives nice big kernels, with lots of flavor from the coconut oil :) love the video Lauren!!

I used to have a friend who would get movie popcorn with the butter on it (which was probably flavored oil)... and then she would ask for a small cup (like 8 to 12 oz) of the butter to take with her into the theater and would pour that in when she was half way through the tub of popcorn. Until now, I'd never seen anyone eat that much butter on popcorn! But I think Lauren might be going for a tie here, hehe. Really enjoyed the simple options. Can't wait to try that sweet potato!

actually, contrarily to popular belief, coconut oil (usually) has a lower smoke point/temperature than olive oil, specially when using unrefined coconut oil, which is the most popular right now. The less refined, the lower the smoke temperature, so basically, from low to high, it goes: extra virgin coconut oil (unrefined), extra virgin olive oil (unrefined), virgin olive oil, coconut oil (refined), olive oil (refined)!

i used olive oil for my stovetop popcorn all the time. it works just fine for me, esp. because i don't like the taste of coconut oil. just a heads up for anyone who feels the same way :) it's good with a little garlic salt and vegan parmesan cheese too. great "garlic & herb" flavor.

yeah but it's not like the coconut oil she used is healthy for you in this recipe. It just stands the heat better and doesn't smoke up like olive oil. You could also use canola/sunflower seed oil.

Just mix the popcorn seasonings with the popcorn inside the cooking pot with the melted oil. Put the lid back on and shake it up. No stirring necessary or dirtying up an extra bowl. I love popcorn for dinner. :)
