Using a lighter to start the fire would take away massively from the raw bushcraft walkabout style video, a lot of the reason why I love watching Scotty is the fact he makes the effort to not use a lighter and show how to properly start a fire out in the bush. Hooroo

A little trick i learned watching Dave Canterbury - If you put the notch in the toggle off centre, the stick dips naturally and you can just drop it into the neck of the bottle. When you pull the string, the sticks already locked in place so it doesn't matter.

A beautiful place indeed. Unusual rock formations coupled with the bends in the river...so gorgeous. Loved seeing the Lyre bird. Making the pancake mix in the ziploc bag, then cutting the hole to pour it is a neat idea. I do a lot of camping and will have to try that. One less dish to wash. I wouldn't have the nerve to camp there with snakes, things thumping around at night, quicksand. I'd be totally freaked out. Good that you can do it and capture it for us on video. Never caught a fish with my hands, but they do it here in the US in the southern states. They call it noodling and it's usually catfish they're catching. Great video!

Hi Scotty, I knew you would go back there, it's a special place I know , i keep going back myself, it's the tranquillity that draws ya back, you picked the water level just right this time..easy walking.. I told my wife years ago its where I want my ashes to be spread as well at the start of the gorge, Scotty a good walk is where you started down and turn up a major creek, that creek is as good if not better ..having a car at both end is the go, something to think about next time you go there.i look forward to see the next video you do down there Scotty, there will be another..I know. Dougy.

I was in Western Australia with the US Marines in the early 80's. We spent a week on liberty in Perth (wonderful people). And a week in the field doing training with Australian forces (also wonderful people). On patrol we stop I get low like I'm supposed to. A brown snake pokes it's head out from under a bush a few feet from my head. Don't know what I was thinking at the time but I guess I got it right. I slowly stood up and backed away. Snake went the other direction. Looking at a Wikipedia article on Australian snakes I reckon it was an Eastern Brown snake. Very bad in terms of the venom but not an especially aggressive species.
@Judemay01

They're very venomous, but our snakes are pretty chilled unless they feel threatened. You did the right thing, give them space and they'll just bugger off and look for a meal.
