$3 Dollar Foods at the Night Market in Cebu

In this video, I travelled to Cebu, Philippines, to visit one of the most popular night markets on the island. The night market is called Sugbo Mercado, and they give you a very modernized, well organized night market experience, so many of my local friends wanted me to show this place on my channel. Their food is relatively expensive compared to other street vendors in the city, but they're still mostly under $4. I loved how they had a lot of great meat based dishes, and the market didn't have too many vendors that were selling the same items. Watch the video to see how I felt about their food!

Hello! From Cebu here. Since importing pork products is banned in Cebu due to ASF (African Swine Fever). The pork he ate is likely from Cebu as well. Cebu is also really known for lechon so the pork industry is really big here.

I live in Cebu and I go here very often! Allot of the stalls there in the past actually ended up becoming popular restaurants and opening their own shops once their stalls got enough traction from Sugbo Mercado!

it's actually pure avocado. in the Philippines, we eat avocado as a dessert typically with milk and ice, unlike in the west they use it for sandwiches and dips. the syrupy taste is the honey as sweetener.

For the boney ribs, that's the type of butchering style here, it's mostly a bunch of square cuts or cross section cuts which focuses on our dishes, which frustrates me sometimes because it's hard to cook western style meats because you can't get the cuts you want unless you really go to meat specialty shops which can go pretty expensive.

Lechon in the Philippines is NOT the same thing as lechon in Spain and the Latin America. Filipino lechon are actually usually fully grown. And yes, lechon is best when freshly served. Which is why it's better to get it from a store with more customers or where it was just delivered. Otherwise it will be cold and soggy.

The lechon you bought is not the best representation of lechon, if you do get to visit again- the best lechon in Cebu is actually found somewhere in Carcar. I'm glad to see you enjoy some of the food you had in Cebu. Hope you enjoyed your stay! :D
