Great video, as always! As you mentioned yourself, a video about the training variables, including a recap on the comparison of static stretching vs contract relax and contract passive would be greatly appreciated!

Excellent content, coach Yiannis! though, I'll admit I'm biased, since I watch all your videos, but this one is very interesting as I recently started trying to regain flexibility in my hamstrings (my flexibility nemesis!) and still recovering from my last set of RDLs 5 days later where the sole focus was trying to get a deeper stretch to my hamstrings

Yes it will make you sore preventing you from training frequently. However we should not mistaken loaded stretching with Active Dynamic (AD) stretching with external load. These are two different things. I’ll explain everything in a dedicated video to loaded stretching

Excellent advice on the soreness component. Basically heavy weight stretching makes sore. But if you're not training flexibility frequently, heavy weight stretching could be a way to make the most for your time. Efficiency. BTW I love your accent personally. But my sister in law from Albania didn't like hers so she hired a speech therapist (in the US they are called speech therapist or speech language pathologist) to help with her pronunciation. I think it could help with your reach on your videos if you want that. I personally like the accent tho. May only take a few sessions since you know how to train. They just help you change the muscles you activate in your neck to face area.

Hello, I am new to your method of stretching but not new to stretching itself. I am 58 years old and have been in involved in martial arts since a young boy. My question regarding this type of stretching is, 'how many times a week should I be stretching utilizing your method in order to gain results, i.e, a full side and side splits?'
@benjaminoupillovers
@benjaminoupillovers Жыл бұрын
he did a video about that, I think the answer was around 3 rep of 30 sec per muscle selected and no need to do more then 5 min a week per muscle. watch his others vids dude! peace

@@YiannisChristoulas Yes, the contract passive. How many times a week should this be executed? I usually stretch about 5 days a week and want to know how many times a week should I implement the contract passive technique into my stretching routine?

If being sore makes it difficult to get flexible, is there any way to not give up strength training? i want to keep building my muscles but also get flexible, but I'm always sore after leg day

Why wpuld the muscle be sore for so long after loaded stretching.
@YiannisChristoulas
@YiannisChristoulas Жыл бұрын
Mainly increased stretching intensity with increased weight but I'll explain in detail in a video dedicated to loaded stretching
@gonkula
@gonkula Жыл бұрын
Stretching causes micro-tears to the tissue (tendons, muscle, fascia) so it's possible that loaded stretching just takes that to a slightly higher level. Just like in hypertrophy training, exercises which create a loaded stretch (think pec flies, rdls, etc), tend to be more effective because of one - they tend to expose end range for some muscles and also because stretching and the micro-rupture of the tissue are key factors in hypertrophy
@Ignasimp
@Ignasimp Жыл бұрын
@@gonkula I think this idea of tears in the muscle being essential for hypertrophy has been debunked. So I'm not sure that would be the case.

What?? Loaded stretching is not one of the optimal methods?? Building strength through range of motion is not the preferred way? That's one debate that one needs to to as 95% of all other flexibility coaches are saying the opposite.. so confusing.. I think that like all things in life, there is no one size fits all. Every one should try out different methods and find the best method that will work for them..
@YiannisChristoulas
@YiannisChristoulas Жыл бұрын
Loaded stretching is the slowest way to get flexible and the one of the best ways to sustain flexibility. That being said I resomend it to people that have already reached their flexibility goals. I'll make a video explaining in detail all the reasons why this is the case, I think it would be interesting. In reality though there is no debate in terms of research/science, but mostly against Instagram trainers who use the word mobility to describe active flexibility.
