OMG!!!! My hands were on my head for the entire clip! My son is almost 4, and this explains him PERFECTLY. I'm glad this popped up on my feed to watch, I'd never heard of that term before. This one tip is going to be a game-changer. He just started school and it has been a terrible transition. He is very strong-willed and adamant about not liking to switch tasks. Also, he came out ALERT. So much so, he didn't blink for like hours! I swear. His eyes were just wide-opened and he just stared at everyone. Less than 12 hours later, he was intently watching PJ Masks on the screen. Weirdest thing.

Well yeah I'm watching this to better parent my child... but I'm realizing that I'm a string willed child who got a bigger body. Learning to reparebt myself so my son can learn by example.

Omg!this is my twins!when they don't want to do something there is absolutely NOTHING that will work. Since they were babies they would cry for 7 hours in a row not be put to bed and now they are toddlers and it's impossible to get them to do anything they don't want to do. Regular techniques as boundaries I've seen in videos don't work for them..

Are you using the strategies consistently and as prescribed? Sometimes strategies don’t work because we give up before giving enough time.

Oh lord this is my son.. .so interesting, we have to make everything into a negotiation or a funish task, but it worked in his favour as he was premature and wasn't breathing for 10 mins at birth. That stubbornness is why hes alive im sure.

I know your comment was posted 3 months ago but I wanted to respond anyway. In case you or anyone else needs to hear this. I know what you're going through. I have two very strong willed girls, 5 & 6 years old. And it's hard! Even when you follow all the tips, routines, everything. Almost every day is a struggle for us. I try to take breaks here and there. On the weekend my husband sleeps in one morning and I the other. Every vacationweek they go to my parents for a day in the middle so I can catch my breath. I ussually go upstairs for an hour after our (early) dinner to have a break, put away laundry in peace 😅 hang their clothes out for the next day. Then I put them to bed while my husband catches a break. I hope you have people around you that you can lean on and who don't judge you for your son's behaviour. It's really not a reflection of your parenting. If anything parents of strongwilled kids have to work harder at parenting then parents who don't have strong willed kids. And especially the last few years with the pandemic and being home/inside a lot more it's extra hard. I hope you're having a good day/week with your son! Hang in there!

When your child says no you should not give power to No at the end of the day follow through with your request. When you don’t you teach your child that when they say no that’s the final say

Constructive, until the host (playing the devil's advocate) asked who's in charge, which immediately triggers the grown-ups' insecurities to assert their dominance over the child in a boastful manner. The alert strong-willed child will surely pick up on that and retaliate. Good luck!
