Don't you just love to watch and listen to a cardiologist that is humble, honest, simple and willing to share his KNOWLEDGE with us, mere misinformed Americans??......Most MDs only spend an average 15 minutes with us in their offices as their check our numbers from CBCs and then they give you a drug prescription, very seldom they tell you to change your diet, life style or movement....Kudos for Chuck for sharing wonderful cardiologist Dr. Steve Lome....a breed apart ....

I wish more doctors and cardiologists would advocate for plant based diets. My son was born with non-correctable heart defects, (AV Canal and Tetralogy). He's had necessary life saving surgeries, for which I'm grateful. I never heard any of his doctors indicate he would live past 20 yrs. He's been vegetarian since birth, and completely vegan for the past 7 yrs. He's 35 yrs now, and thriving, even with lower oxygen. I tend to avoid doctors, because we stay away from medications, able to use diet istead. I really wish my son had a cardiologist like Dr. Lane!

@@sherylspencer7132 For what it's worth, anecdotal, I can attest that I dropped my cholesterol by over 100 points, dropped more than 30 pounds and got out of pre-diabetic range by eating a whole food plant-based no oil diet. @iamdebmiller
@iamdebmiller Жыл бұрын
@@aidabarreto9299 I learned how to cook with no oil, and I don't miss it at all. I learned to choose to place foods from these groups on each plate: beans, grains, greens, yellow/orange/red vegetable, fruit. And some nuts and seeds here and there. I learned to seek out many more grains and beans and discovered so many varieties I hadn't heard of, all of which are delicious and hearty. There is so much variety, it's never boring, always satisfying. And these beans and grains are not expensive. There is a website called Food To Live that sells organic beans, grains and other staples in bulk, and my pantry is filled with those items. I learned how to cook these things easily and quickly in my Instant Pot. I learned that I can stop eating whatever I want, easily, it's not a big deal. I'd been addicted to cheese and dark chocolate. Once I went fully whole food plant-based no oil, I also stopped the chocolate because I was exhibiting symptoms of addiction around it. So I just stopped, and I don't miss it. I don't think dark chocolate itself is bad, but if/when someone is addicted to it, that's not so great. So I find for myself personally, it's better if I have none at all. There is no nutritional need for it, and for me, leaving it alone works best. Maybe others can do it in moderation. But I don't even WANT it in moderation any more. I'd rather eat more nutritionally dense and nourishing foods instead of chocolate now. I think by giving myself all the healthy nutrients in the food groups mentioned above, my body finds it easy to let go of those that are not good for me. It has been a wonderful evolution, one that has turned my health around in a positive way, and which has given me emotional confidence in being able to take charge of my habits as well.

A friend just had a coronary event doctors are attempting to diagnose. He asked about foods I'm eating that made an impact on my inflamation. I mentioned I've been whole food plant based, since Hans Diehl did a research project in the late 90's here.. - but berries, greens, fruits and beans (close to what you've been talking about.) I just refered him to this very timely video. I'm hoping he and his wife view this. He had been a serious smoker, so I hope he doesn't think he can do both vegan and smoking in moderation and come out ahead. Still, this is a great intro to diet being able to improve your cardiac odds and where to begin. Food, activity and relationships - change those and change the face of medicine.

You nailed it💯💯!!! I work on A cardiac unit & evidently it’s very sad to see young men & women in their late 40s, 50s, 60s & 70s struggling with cardiac distress; which all stems from the ugly fatty American diet. No need for crush diets; just adopting A Mediterranean lifestyle; alcohol in moderation, lots of vegetables & fresh produce; lean meats . Avoid sugar & diet drinks at all costs🍀. Heart disease is primarily from poor eating that was we tend to build over a long long period of time. In many parts of the world ; people grow up not having made A single trip to Macdonalds😜. That’s what majority of Americans should teach their children. You’ll worry less about heart disease if you & your children stayed Away from all Fast food restaurants. No McDonald’s, no kfc , Burger King & all the other shitty food places that serve junk .

Yes! The Med. diet is healthy for sure, but I'd be sure to limit salt intake. I know someone who eats the Med. style diet and consumes a lot of salad but the problem I see is that he consume a LOT of olive oil (and he's overweight). He also overdoes the white bread. I would think about a teaspoon of olive oil a day would be healthy..(although I don't think there's a consensus on the exact best amount). You can eat avocado (and nuts) to get your additional fats. And just limit white bread to a serving 1-2x a week. Also cherry juice is known to lower blood pressure (or just eat cherries!) Best regards.

Calcium buildup in soft tissue is the result of a lack or Vitamin K to transport it to the bones. Increase Vit K results in reduced calcium in soft tissue.

So good to see another highly qualified crusader for WFPB diet carrying the flag! I've subscribed to his channel and will be watching & listening as intently as I do to Drs Barnard, Esselstyn, Campbell, Bulsiewicz and McDougall. Thanks for having him on, Chuck.

My brother helped out at a neighbour's strawberry farm and they were supposed to wait 3 days before picking them and I assume it was after spraying. The contractor told them that none of the other farmers take notice of that rule so I tried to avoid berries after that. Perhaps if I can afford organic I might buy then in future, but who knows if they don't stick to everything they should ,how often are they checked by authorities to make sure that no spray etc is involved. I live in Australia and I like to buy Australian But the only organic blueberries I saw came from the other side of the world, so I think checking would be even harder to do.

I think the golden Berry is actually a gooseberry. A kiwifruit is a gooseberry too and I'm sure on the list

Wow it’s a very good thing you were there when the runners went down. They would’ve died without you. You’re a true hero. My gynecologist saved a little boy from choking at a Tigers game once. He was on the local news and his staff were really proud of him.
