I'd love to listen to a podcast about scaping something there is so little listenable content about. If you agree like this comment guys!! I loved this video and would be amazing to get more through a pod!!!

I am so appreciative for this video, i absolutely LOVE your longer videos and this one is no exception. I appreciate the hard work your not only put into your aquascapes, but your viewers as well. Thanks for such a fantastic video George. Keep your sleeves wet!

Great video! A Dutch scape would be amazing. Nobody online is doing that. I agree, 60cm might be to limiting. If you were to get the larger aquarium it would make for a perfect Dutch scape. With how fast the stem plants grow would also make great content. As would the planting and methodologies/rules.

please make more like this when you have time. there is a big lack of relaxing videos like this, and you're an absolute pro at these sorts of videos. an eventual 12 hour playlist of these would be incredible.

Fantastic video George. I love how you turn something that some see as a chore into almost a meditation and therapy session. I suffer from PTSD and find aquascaping and associated maintenance really helps me, as do your videos . Thnx

I put on my airpods, had a big cleaning day and finished the whole video without skipping! I’ve noticed that you said you’re grateful of things in life quite frequently in the video. This is something I’m still working on, being thankful and grateful of even small things in life . Thank you for the video! P.S. never thought I’d be hearing you chewing and swallowing an apple in my ear lol

You should do these locked off maintenance shoots more often George, it's quite relaxing and perfect to have on while I do maintenance on my tanks. Keep up the good work! 📽️

28:10 this is such a fascinating thing. I know inverts do this in the wild and it's how they fit into ecosystems, but it's so cool to watch a log gradually disappear as shrimp pick away at it (after tinier critters break it down, too; there's so much happening in there).

I notice you said you live in a hard water area. Can you share details of how you get good plant growth when using hard water or do you use RO water? Im on a C02 setup, high light WRGB2 pro and daily fert, yet growth just inst there, I can only think its because of my quite high KH and GH
@GeorgeFarmerStudios20 күн бұрын
Hard water tends to benefit from more CO2 and liquid fertiliser for healthy plant growth. If you have healthy plants to start with, and enough light then I’d consider adding more CO2 but observe livestock to ensure they’re not suffering (slower behaviour and less appetite)

I enjoy your channel enormously. I have no fish now, but spend time volunteering at the local dog and cat shelter. I walk dogs through a mile and a quarter of trails in the woods behind the shelter 5 days per week, usually 2 or 3 dogs daily. It is a practice that gets me away from everything else in life. I use my cell phone to take pictures of mushrooms I find along the way and put them on my Facebook page. The dogs and I benefit enormously.

What’s the purpose of waiting till AFTER partially filling the tank to add the dechlorinator? I’ve never understood why people do this. Can someone please help me get my head around it? Why wouldn’t a person want to add dechlorinator BEFORE adding the toxic chemicals into the tank? I personally mix my dechlorinator with the water in a separate barrel before pumping into the tank, but I do understand that this isn’t an option for everyone. Why not add the dechlorinator to the tank first though?
@GeorgeFarmerStudiosАй бұрын
Great question. The reason some people add dechlorinator after partially filling the tank is to ensure that the dechlorinator is evenly distributed and has the maximum effect. When you add tap water directly into the tank, the chlorine or chloramine is diluted, and by adding the dechlorinator after the water is added, it can more effectively neutralise these chemicals throughout the tank. For those of us with low chlorine/chloramine levels in our tap water, this method works well since the risk of harming the fish during the short period before adding the dechlorinator is minimal. However, if someone has high chlorine levels or is particularly cautious, adding the dechlorinator before adding water or using a separate container like you do is also a great approach. Both methods can work; it just depends on the situation and your water chemistry.

@@GeorgeFarmerStudios Great video on the (somwhat enjoyable) process! Do you have an idea of the chlorine and chloramine levels in your water? i.e. what would the cut off be for ensuring you add a de-chlorinator before or after. For example, our water company ranges from 0.45 to 0.90 mg/l for total disinfectant. Would that be classed as high?
