Great video Dave. As people have said I like the drone shots ( and wonder how you got them). $3, eh? They saw you coming! My 3- channel modified Kmart glider was free, as I liberated it from a roadside hard rubbish collection. I am using the differential receiver out of an airliner ( A380) and can vary the differential action from my transmitter, so I could keep the motors fairly close together

Yeah, co$t me heaps! Jealous of your elevator. Just added LED lights to it though! See you next time.

The flight board and Tx from any of the XK A1?0 series 3-channellers (or the QF008 787) would make good conversion gear. The only PITA with them is that the elevator servo has to be the 5-wire version, not a standard 3-wire type. The brushed motors eventually wear out but you can safely drive 7x20mm or even 8x20mm motors scrounged from el-cheapo brushed toy quads. All of them used to use the V911S protocol so you could use a good Multi Radio to get much better control of them. However I believe that the protocol (at least for some of them) has now been changed so it might take some searching for it - or some more work by the Multi Module Hackers. (Sorry - Devs!) 😉😊 Those 48mm $3 foamies from Kmart are about the best of the bunch around, Dave, since they have very nice fine trailing edges on the wings and tail and enough wing-tip up dihedral to glide very nicely.

@@theoztreecrasher2647 Altho the “ Airliner” 3-channel receivers use 5-wire servos, there is at least some good news - all the 5-wire servos are interchangeable ( now!), but because of the weird functions of the elevator servo, it must be installed ( like the Rx) in the same orientation as in the original plane. Please don’t ask how I know this. I have recently found these 3-channel receivers for Au$9.00. Good value

@@andrewhalstead5938 Yep Andrew. To take advantage of the Gyro stabilization (and have it all running the right way) there's not much flexibility with those boards. (Though that's a VERY good price!) The 3/4 channel brushed boards out of the Volantex Mini Warbirds/Trainers (and also the 2s brushless 500mm P-51 I believe) offer a little more flexibility in that you can force a recalibration of what they see as "Level" and also reverse the directions of how the stabilizers work on each of A,E,R. But they are way more expensive. No free lunches! 😢

059 the tail could be made lighter. by reducing the root chord length of the vert-stab so that it is equal to that of the horiz-stab; and remove about an inch off the top of the vert-stab. fuse-lawj
