Love Derek's show. It's the show that made me start a dream of mine to build bobber motorcycles and start my KZbin channel documenting it... he gave me the motivation to be my goofy self on the channel. It's just getting started but I'm having a blast. It's becoming my retirement plan, not the money part but the part where I plan on not sitting on the couch and turning into a old dust fart.

I did with my son every summer from 8-18 then getting his hands dirty was not cool and he took my advice and went into electronics in the 80`s and is making 5 times what I ever did. Lou just found your channel as I follow Derek and your show interviewing Derek was on the list! So I watched it because I love back stories on the shows I watch Derek being one, and Uncle Tony being the other, and now your videos will be the other! I wondered what happened to you? I would watch your show every weekend! And then you’re gone!? I am so happy to have found you on KZbin! I am a Marine veteran and retired automobile restoration technician, former shop manager , small automotive collection curator. Worked on everything from hot rods, muscle cars, Porsche, Lamborghinis, Ferraris, antique brass automobiles even a couple of steam jobs! I’m 75 and retired now! I really mis working on my cars! I say my cars because when you work on these vehicles for two or more years , and then they turn out to be going to the next big show , Fema, or a concourse show , Pebble Beach or Emilia Island, they become your car!!! Like kids! Loved your show! I guess I live vicariously through shows like yours , Derek , and the like! I still watch MotorTrend but I hate the woke commercials!!! I’m ready to turn off the satellite! I love Derek’s character, Patriotism , and the fact that he is dedicated to those themes and family, great that you showcased him! Hope he sticks to it we need good folks like that to straighten this country out! Hope you keep showcasing fellers and felletts like that in the future! I will be watching!! Keep up the good work! My sister's first car, around 1999, was a beautiful 1972 Buick Electra 455. She needed a new gas tank. It showed up, in the trunk of an old Nova, on a trailer, with a couple other cars, packed with parts, from somebody from Texas, or some dry state. One of the coolest things I ever saw!!

Warn used to supply a kit to convert the "all time 4 wheel" (with no manual lock out hubs) to a standard lock out hub conversion. It came with the hubs, and a gear assembly to install into the transfer case. I installed it on my 79 back in 1983 worked perfectly.

I'm not even a gear-head any more - haven't twiddled a wrench in quite a while - got a motorcycle that's sitting and was gonna sell it and it needs work just from having sat for a long time - I found Derek totally at random with an eye to what you needed to do to restore a sitting vehicle and got totally engrossed. Logic is a beautiful thing, whether or not you apply it to the interior of a star or the innards of a car. He's gotta be in rare company. If you know what you are doing, even the most mundane thing becomes intensely interesting. Caring about your work is a big, big part of life, no matter what you do. Robert M. Pirsig the philosopher talked about this attitude of care and attention in his famous book "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance". As he said, it was not so much about motorcycles as it was about care and involvement in the world. Derek reminds me of that. Thanks for this interview guys!

I started working on cars in 1975 at the age of 15.I bought a British made 1957 Morris Oxford as a first car for $150 and spent $2500 on it having a local garage install a new floor and do some engine work.My mum was beside herself and sent me to an uncle to learn mechanics.My uncle taught me so much.As I got older I began buying cars not running,tow them nome,get them running,thrash them and then sell or give them away when I was done with them lol.I stopped working on cars in 1990 because I got marred to a lady who complained a lot about me spending too much time working on cars but in 2018 the passion came back and I bought a 1977 F100 long bed 4X4 as a first project since 1990.It was then I was told about KZbin men and women garages building or doing will it start videos.Vice Grip Garage was the first KZbinr I got hooked on and subscribed to.Derek was down to earth,real,funny and very knowledgeable.I have since subscribed to lots of other awesome garages.Halfass Customs,Bad Chad,Restored and many more plus you Lou.I must mention I’m divorced now and spend too much time watching KZbin garages instead of working on my projects lol.
