Never thought of this. All my school age and college I danced (ballet,modern,hip hop) like 5-6 days a week. So I did these things naturally and heels never gave me any issue. As I’ve gotten older and dance less, heels hurt after 2-3 hours. I need to get back to my roots. Thank you for this.

This is just what I was looking for! I danced for 7 years as a pre-teen/teenager and had no problems with the few heels I tried on then. Now at 28, my muscle tone has... faded somewhat, ha. But my love for heels and platforms has only grown. Showing me what it looks like to walk in heels and telling me to practice means nothing and hurts! Showing us to strengthen our legs and feet to be more comfortable and safe? All the difference! I'm excited to build that tone and flexibility back up and start rocking these heels I've got laying around, just waiting to be enjoyed!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE these tips. Now, when I was in middle school I tried out modeling. Although, I did quick research on how to SAFELY walking in wedges and continued wearing them into my early high school years I WISH I had known these exercises and stretches I could’ve done the whole trip in the car down to Orlando. I wouldn’t see results right away but at least my muscles would have been warmed up and loose for it same goes for waking up early in the morning and rushing to get things on and put together for school. My muscles were sore but it got better each week when I kept wearing the heels anyways (taking breaks of course). But SUPER helpful to have known it then. Better late than never.

I've seen others say 'heel toe... like you always do...' & I think, ha!! Awful advice...esp for beginners. It's all about the ball! Lol. If you're wearing a 6 in stiletto & you try and put your weight down on that tiny heel... you'll be lucky if you only break the heel and not your ankle as well. The advice is excellent... as someone who lives in heels I can def say it's much less about the shoes & much more about calf & ankle strength because the shoe isn't keeping you stable... your muscles are. Most people blame the shoes but honestly they're rarely the issue. If everything is strong and flexible... any shoe will do fine.

I recently got a job in retail, and boy have I been standing in heels a lot. I could normally get through conferences for a few days in heels no problem, but for weeks on end, my feet have started to really hurt. Gonna try these to see if I can improve my stamina!
@CrystalClues3 жыл бұрын
Yui, it may be worth looking into a different pair of heels if your feet haven’t gotten used to the pair you’re currently wearing, or if the shoe hasn’t broken in and still feels painful. A brand or style that is comfortable for one person may not be comfortable for you, and vice versa. Our feet are all unique shapes and sizes so the best way to find out what works for you is to try different brands, heights, materials, etc. I know it’s not cheap and could be a lifelong journey but when you find the right brand that works for you, you’ll be much more comfy standing in heels.

To me most of the difficulty comes from shoes that are not stably attached around the foot (for example sandals with only two straps holding them on the foot) and the points of friction directly on the skin. Also very narrow shoes hurt a lot. Very thin soles hurt too but that is something that is easily fixable. The easiest shoe with heel to walk in is boots with a thick sole.

@kitzya13545 жыл бұрын
I love the video - very useful strengthening exercises, however I feel the need to raise a couple of important points: Yes, these exercises will help, but they won't guarantee your ability to wear extremely high heels such as the ones shown in the video. You also need to work out the maximum comfortable heel height for your feet - an easy way is to try on the pair you want and see if you can, by doing an elevé as shown, raise the heels by an inch off the floor. This allows you to walk with minimal discomfort using the natural flex of your foot. If you can't do this, I'm sorry, the heel is too high for the length and flexibility of your foot, and may cause damage in the long term. Please also ensure that the toe of any high heel is wide enough for your toes to spread and support your weight when resting the weight on the balls of your feet - this will also help you with your balance. The other point that concerns me is that Crystal says her feet are "naturally always in this position" - please always spend a day in flats occasionally to make sure you can still walk comfortably with your feet in a "barefoot" position, this will help make sure that you catch any developing problems with a shortening Achilles tendon before they develop.
@CrystalClues5 жыл бұрын
Kitzy A you raise a bunch of super good points! You’re absolutely right it’s important to wear flats and give your toes and arches a break. Wearing super high heels all the time long term can be really terrible for your feet. I chose these platforms in this video because they show a more extreme heel height to really demonstrate the exercises, and also because these are a super popular heel in the pageant world right now. But you can mitigate problems by taking the measures you mentioned (which I will admit can be more effective than strengthening exercises...wearing a lower heel or simply not wearing heels is going to be more comfortable and ergonomic for your body 100% of the time.)
