In my experience and I was a bouncer... If someone is in your face and you must fight, you have a few options: 1) use your dominant hand and throw a short hook and aim for the jaw line right past the chin. Throw this punch as fast and hard as you can. Don't telegraph it either. If you connect you should knock them out. 2) Head butt them on the bridge of their nose with the boney part of your forehead. If you hit them hard enough, you may break their nose. 3) Distract them with, "Oh shit here comes the cops" and point in the opposite direction. You gotta sell this one. Hope your acting is on point. When they look away, throw a strategically placed banana peel on the floor and skip away. When they step on it and slip and fall follow it up with a red turtle shell right to the keister and claim "Ima Wario, Ima gonna win!" and a devilish laugh.

From my experience, I don't use hooks I use elbows. Your elbows are just as close and quicker than a hook. You want to avoid using your fists in a street fight if possible. If you're close enough to throw a hook you can throw an elbow. Way more effective than fists and can do much more damage.

Push forward abit more on the Hugh elbow block other the punch can go through to hit ear and cause knock out.

Why do you prefer framing instead of head movement?
@willbibbee3386 жыл бұрын
Oreo Carlton idk if this is the only reason but bare knuckle punching someone in the elbow hurts a LOT
@tritacacademy6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment!!!!! We prefer both! Slipping is an essential skill-set we work on in TRITAC. We believe head movement is a vital for self-defense, MMA and all-around fighting. This particular video is just showing you some applications of framing to defense against a variety of punches. Personally, (this is Matt Bryers), I am more of a grappler. Framing allows grapplers to enter and defend "in the pocket" to get over-hooks / under-hooks, clinches, back control, etc. So this particular drill is just showing you how to use frames to defend against punches using framing instead of head movement. Osss.
@tritacacademy6 жыл бұрын
Definitely not the only reason, but it is an awesome "bonus reason". Thanks for the comment! Oss.
@oreocarlton33436 жыл бұрын
so you prefer framing when doing offensive clinch with takedown in mind? If you have the time, pls exand on framing VS head movement, both have inherited risks and advantages for self defense so its a topic I would appreaciate to learn more, but my bias is towards head movement and boxing (low risk low reward) VS a Muay Thai appraach to striking of blocking (high risk high reward).
@tritacacademy6 жыл бұрын
Yes - control, takedown or shield. It is NOT Framing "VS" Head Movement. It IS Framing "AND" Head Movement. In this particular video, we showed framing. Every human moves, reacts, and instinctually fights differently so what works best for me is "what works best for me". We don't ignore any viable option for hand to hand combat. Head movement and framing are BOTH skills we train.

Well since we're showing a boxing combination that attacks the head, we're showing how to defend the head. Of course we also teach our students how to defend against body attacks as well. It would be ignorant not to teach people how to defend against body shots.

Most street fighters are head hunters. Look up Archie Moore he used the cross armed defense in 219 fights 186 wins 131 ko's and only 23 defeats. Bad fucking ass. And George Foreman (one of his students) used it in his second career to great effect. He also won back the heavyweight title.

Bare knuckle + effective power= broken hands. Why would anyone train for self-inflicted injuries? Ever seen x-rays of bare-knuckle fighter's hands after a match? In MMA with wraps and gloves the most common injury is broken hands.
@tritacacademy Жыл бұрын
In this older video, at my old school, we trained bare knuckle off and on. Many of us also had a Kyokushin background so were used to training bare knuckle. I also like the feel of it, because it changes the punch a bit, you need to be precise, calculated. And finally, God forbid you need to use your skills in a self-defense situation, training bare knuckle at times ain't the worst thing. Now in our new gym, since we have 15 active fighters, we train with smarter gear.

@@tritacacademy Thank you for the reply, my profession is firearms related, I cannot take any chances closed fist punching, my training in empty hand to complement firearms is from the OSS curriculum, palm and edge of hand strikes. In a self-defense situation I train edge of hand strikes to the throat advancing as I draw from concealment.
