Mark Jackson is easily a favorite basketball head of mine, and I believe he has some great qualities to be a leader and easily an NBA coach. Player's mostly love playing for him. Did he make some mistakes? Yes! But it was his first year and his potential spoke way louder than his mistakes. He deserves another chance. Guarantee he turns a team around. Crazy he wasn't allowed that chance.

@@PIP...33 I agree Bogut was great one of best centers in NBA only Cousins was better. If not due injuries he would be even better ranked last decade plus. Anyone can coach that superteam when you add such a great defenders and top draft pics like them. Even Walton won 50 or so games with Curry and that crew.

He offended people who are part of the lGBQ community that hold powerful positions in the NBA so that is why he not coaching anymore. AND ACCORDING to Andre Iguodala he also put players in positions to make a great payday when management did not want that for certain players. Mark Jackson is a players coach not a company man

Ive been waiting for this one! There is a Breakfast Club interview with Andre Iguodala where he said he never made anyone go to church and basically he was fired for his faith. That's why the players gave him props when they won the first title. Great vid as always bro!
@jameswalsh3112
@jameswalsh3112 6 ай бұрын
He was fired because of how he related to others. Many people share his faith, yet do not wear it on their sleeve, bully others with it or allow it to dominate their coaching or personal style. If you cannot operate in a secular social collaboration, you will struggle in a melting pot environment. If you have never been secularly focused or on the religious fringe, you may not understand the infringement felt by the victims of aggressive religious imposition or inquisition or crusade or witch hunt, etc...

It's always been the elephant in the room. But, the thing that I've always found funny is that the NBA never had any issues with Phil Jackson instituting Buddhist practices within the team cultures at both Chicago and LA Lakers. He had their entire team participating in such practices and he's referred to as the "Zen Master." He was also strong willed just like Mark and he wasn't particularly liked by the owners of said teams either. So, what's the real issue?? This question is rhetorical by the way. Let the reader understand.
@jayws9294
@jayws9294 11 ай бұрын
I was thinking the same thing. Jackson is more or less religious and strong-willed. Jackson is confident, high moral guy, loyal, well liked and highly competent. That’s screams threat for some reason. Meanwhile Luke Walton gets coaching jobs handed to him.

It's about the organizations, not the NBA. Also, Phil saw damn near immediate success on Chicago and LA. He was successfulband got it done 100%, so of course theyll put up with his stubborn ass. Lastly, meditation is for everyone and is focusing on presence and the individual. Christian evangelizing is a little more in your face

It's not a race thing, and its not a Christianity thing. Its a Conservative Christianity in the Bay Area thing. Jackson made several comments against same sex marriage and other equal rights related to orientation and gender identity. That bigoted bullshit doesn't fly in the Bay Area for obvious reasons. That being said, objectively he walked so Steve Kerr could run.

Organization picking the coach's assistants is a new thing relatively, most of the great coaches in nba history didnt let the front office pick their assistants. Phil Jackson, Larry Brown and Pat Riley didnt let the owners pick their staff. Owners and management just picked the head coach. The head coach is the person who is supposed to hire the staff. Do you see Robert Kraft telling Bill Belichick who to hire? I dont think so! People need to stop acting like it was "out of line" for Mark Jackson to wanna pick his own assistants. All the Organization is doing when they wanna pick ur assistant coaches is hiring ur future replacement. Coaches dont all have the same philosophy and when u bring in assistants who have differences in philosophy theyre gonna butt heads.

Especially with lemello's education , growth , maturation and just that Mark Jackson leadership & swag he could have passed on to Lemelko from one great PG to another with endless possibilities and potential . Yeah, Bruh we absolutely needed him at that time. His PG development of mellow would have totally changed a lot of history and lives in the NBA. But would've, should've, could've.

A much-appreciated presentation! Thanks. Interestingly, Jackson was criticized for not taking on suggestions for assistant coaches. That he wanted "his guys" with him on the bench. Allegedly, Steve Kerr's best friend, Bruce Fraser or "Q" (as he's called, interestingly) is Kerr's best friend. Kerr has been criticized by some of the beat writers and other media types around the Warriors, for not having a dynamic coaching staff. It is damn near a crime that strong-willed "black" coaches have a short leash, regardless of their prowess. I have seen this dynamic my entire life. Mark Jackson is worthy and a legend in New York. He has a right to his thoughts and worldview. Others do and it does not prevent them from prospering in life.

It matters in ALL professions if you are liked or disliked by your colleagues and management. It doesn’t matter if you think it is right, or if you are better than the next guy. The person that gets along, and has comparable talent will be chosen most times over a “malcontent”. I’ve seen it firsthand, and been part of management that has made these types of decisions. All the self righteous feelings one may have won’t mean a thing when it comes time for job assessment. Life ain’t fair, people have feelings (men and women) and management and employees have cliques. If you are going one way and everyone else is going another, they will get you out of there. Everyone that has worked anywhere knows this is the case, like it or not. At the end of the day, nobody cares about your sob story.

By denouncing a person as well respected in NBA circles as Rick Welts and demeaning future championship head coaches like Mike Malone, he pretty much signed his own NBA death sentence. And it’s not like he’s a Phil Jackson or Gregg Popovich or even a Doc Rivers or Erik Spoelstra level head coach. He’s a decent coach, but Kerr coming in the next season and winning a chip with basically the same time is a huge indictment.

Mark Jackson not being able to get another NBA job is criminal especially if you compare him to someone like Daryl Morey. I would say Mark Jackson is much better as a coach than Morey is as a President of Basketball operations. Also from a business point of view Marks stance on the LGBT community is much more preferable money wise to Morey’s opinion on China which almost cost the NBA billions of dollars

Sorry but there are some things that I don't agree with him not being a coach not only in the NBA but a coach even in the NCAA. He could be a major impact on any level and would definitely become a figure of leading young men especially in college. However, it's his decision IF he wants to be a head coach. We all have to persevere with some challenges that are placed in front of us. He did an OUTSTANDING job with the Warriors and I will say that GSW first championship was HIS doing. NOW, with all these college jobs being literally handed to some former NBA players that are really not working, M. Jackson would be a great guy that could lead college players and bring in other coaches (both young and old) that are just as hungry as he is. Also, cannot push RELIGION on people. that is your thing so allow players to go but not be forced. Now i heard you said that the owner said for Mark to not hire friends? SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEET....They ALL HIRE FRIENDS in the NBA, NCAA, NAIA, 9 to 5, and I can keep going. French Politics. I know for myself that if I want to be back in the coaching field, then I am going to apply on ALL levels. There's more than the NBA that need his service. But I guess that ESPN money at the time was more lucrative plus less stressful and also he has his church in LA so don't know if he even has the time. I know for sure that If applies for a college gig, he will be hired at a D1 program that will respect what he demands from his staff and his players and be back in the mix.

The NBA is the most liberal and 'woke' professional sport on the planet. Mark has been 'blackballed' because of his unapologetic Christian beliefs. All the 'smoke' surrounding him has proven to be rumors with no factual evidence produced about him being homophobic. Yes, as a minister, preacher, teacher of the Bible, and a Christian, he would obviously be opposed to supporting the LGBTQ's agenda but that doesn't mean he is homophobic. Mark lived out his Christian values and that naturally rubbed the 'woke' NBA folks the wrong way. If he was any other religion, they would embrace his personal beliefs and accept him as one of their own, but because he dared to mention the name JESUS, he became a religious zealot who had to go. Mark is a very good head coach and the only reason he is not coaching in the NBA is because of his religious beliefs, period.

Owners want a winning team, a coach to turn the failing team around and build a good foundation for future championships. That's what Mark did, you give talent like his whatever he wants. It would be foolish for an owner to demand a winning coach to do it their way. The truth is whoever would coach them from then on would have a lot of media attention and they didn't support Marks philosophy. Plus they knew the foundation was already built up.

I've always said that Mark Jackson is one of the best coaches in the NBA. Him setting on the side commentating is a travesty. What he did for the Golden State Wariors is the reason why they are one of the best teams in the NBA. When you are Black you have to stay on task. You have to play well with others. Steve Kerr just fell into what Mark Jackson built. Being Black you have to work harder than anybody. Mark you should be a coach period.
