I get the same thing. Normally accompanied by a lot of burst capillaries around my eyes. There's a few things that have helped me with this: 1) Don't do handstands on a full stomach. Or after drinking alcohol (this is a big one for me, I get head explosion pretty bad after a night of drinking. I have to leave about 24 hours) 2) Focus on your breathing. This can be difficult because you're trying to concentrate on your balance, but really try to make sure you're breathing steadily and not holding your breath. (I try to breathe very loudly so I'm aware of the rhythm and regularity of my breath) 3) Don't immediately go into handstands, and don't immediately go for maximum hold time. Try to start by getting yourself into position and leaning your body forward without kicking up, getting your body adjusted to the pressure of being semi-upside down. Then do a few small holds (maybe 5-15 seconds) before going for anything longer. Hope this helps!

If you're in good condition i think you can learn a handstand within a week starting off with frog stands, but probably not a perfect gymnastic handstand like in the video. i got learned to balance a handstand within 4 days of actually trying in the mean time while i am working on conditioning and flexibility to achieve a straight back handstand one day. Good luck!

@Famulus8 жыл бұрын

I've got another really important tip. This is actually something he doesn't do. Don't look at the ground with you face. Your head and ears should be almost parallel with your arms. At first, this might be harder, but if you then combine this with tightening up your body like he says in the third tip, then it will get easier over time. You can still look at the ground, just look with your eyes instead of your whole face. It also makes it more comfortable for your head, so it doesn't feel like it might explode if you hold it for long.

Hey guys! Alex could you show us some useful excercises or progressions to get so flexible as you are? I am talking about deep squats and perfect toes to bar. You know its hard to do toes to bar without bend knees if you are not flexible. Yes, I tried to stretch before sleep every day but the problem are leg workouts. I do usual weighted squats for less than 6 reps for strength and pistols for hypertrophy, but usually after leg day my legs are sored for 3-5 days and Its impossible to stretch like this, but also even stretched muscels get short again. How to deal with this? Rado :)
@eleggs8 жыл бұрын
well that's incredibly hard to do. I had the advantage that I started stretching training with 8 years. and that makes a huge difference. so now you can just do it again and again and be patient. check our stretching video for getting info of what and how you can do it.

Another reason to stay on the wall until you're definitely ready for freestanding: When losing balance, I was walking a bit. Which would be ok, but I was always walking forward with my left arm, and eventually falling to my left side. I wish I had avoided the resulting muscle imbalance by using the wall until hand walking was unnecessary.
