Here's the next Three-For-All lesson with 3 Ronni Le Tekro Licks From 1989.
Ronni is the second most requested player for September and this lesson is the second part of a double-header I created to celebrate Ronni's playing and TNT's music.
This lesson features a number of interesting licks and phrases captured during a bootleg of TNT performing in Tokyo in 1989, during TNT's 'Intuition' tour. Most of these ideas stem from the song Tonight I'm Falling, which featured some nice shots of Ronni playing and he was prominently featured on the screen.
Le Tekro is a gifted and exciting player and I've been a fan of his guitar skills and music since I was in high school. He has a knack for creating sporadic and seemingly-random rock/shred phrases and licks, but also has a delicate melodic touch and can play some of the sweetest melodies and phrases you've ever heard.
I can definitely say that he's one of my early musical influences.
Give this episode a view, leave some comments and feedback, and please subscribe to Late Night Lessons - THANK YOU!

I really appreciate that you do lessons for overlooked guys like Chris Poland or Ronnie. Thanks a million times. My next vote is for Les Paul because there's basically no lessons for him and trying to search for a lesson in his style only yields results for guys playing Les Paul guitars.

Ronnie was one of he best and most underrated guitarist of the late 80’s. He was so far ahead of his contemporaries. I saw TNT a few times in the late 80’s and Ronnie would do this killer guitar solo in the show using several guitars and loopers, was a lot fun.

Your point about Ronnie's being classically influenced without sounding like Yngwie is a good one. He really seemed to come from out of nowhere with his own vocabulary, tone and bag of tricks and very little of what he plays sounds lifted from guitarists who came before him.

This is cool 😎 I don’t live far from Ronni, his studio is not far from my town Gjøvik in Norway. I have always loved he’s shredding stuff and he’s a great musician. He had a real bad ass sound back in the 80". He uses Marshall 2204 and strat with Duncan Custom humbuckers. And he still use Roland Space Echo. He has a very similar setup to Randy Rhoads gear. But he use mainly Boss and not MXR pedals. It’s really great to see that other know about him. 😄🎸🤟

Sometimes Ronni’s style reminds me of a Cello timbre but with extended higher register. I could never get enough of TNT 🇳🇴. I still listen to their records. Love his percussive tremolo. I read in an 80’s guitar/metal magazine an interview where Ronni tells that he had no idea about guitar setups being so isolated in Norway from the main rock guitar scene. Obviously he improved his guitar’s playability later but he admitted that it was so difficult playing in the earlier days not knowing. It’s amazing he could execute just inspiring and explosive playing with very high action as he said and described 🎸

Dave.. Love your channel and happy to see it is growing so quickly... So here is my Le Tekro story. Long ago I heard Le Tekro & lost my mind.. Around that time I stumbled on to a 1/4 stepper guitar made by Bernie Hamburger Hamburguitar.. was built for a local guitar player Dana.. Can't remember his last name. This was metro Detroit area in the mid to late 80's.. The guitar stepped up in quarter tones vs. half steps and was challenging to get your head and fingers around. The same luthier that made Ronni's 1/4 stepper.. There was some issue with him being a Kramer artist @ the time and the head stock was covered up or branded Kramer.. Don't remember... Long story long, I ended up needing the sell the this guitar for bills or something.. 30+ years ago.. It is really my only gear sell regret. I think I have a photo of this guitar somewhere. If anyone know anything more about this (these guitars) I would love to hear about it....

I first heard Ronnie around '86 or so when I was still a fairly fresh player with barely a year under my belt. I thought TNT were terrific and was surprised they didn't hit in the States like they did in Europe. Ronnie is like this perfect hybrid of an American, or L.A. kind of player and a every European player. There's just something different about his approach and I love it.
