Here's the next Three-For-All lesson and this time we're taking a look at three licks from the late-great Shawn Lane, which were borrowed from a bootleg performance/clinic in Atlanta from 1996.
The mighty Shawn Lane was an exceptional and otherworldly musician, and it's very difficult to accurately describe his musical skill and incredible talent to those unfamiliar with his name and immense musical prowess.
I had the privilege and honor of meeting Shawn Lane and Andy Timmons while I was a student at AIM (The Atlanta Institute of Music). I can safely say he was one of the nicest and most humble musicians I've ever met. He signed an autograph (on my Powers of Ten cassette insert) and we talked after the clinic for a few moments, which eventually extended to talking in the parking lot afterward, where I found myself talking to Shawn, Andy, and the Ibanez rep they were traveling with (along with a few fellow students).
It was a dreamlike experience and a moment in my life that I'll never forget.
This lesson features a number of interesting and unique ideas, and while this is Three-For-All you'll notice that I've stocked this lesson with plenty of extra concepts and ideas.
We're hitting pentatonic substitutions, Lydian-based modal flavors, melodic arpeggios, and much more in this lesson.
