@@bigjon576 - Would you prefer that claiming self defense prevents all prosecution? Anyone could kill anybody and get away with it by claiming self defense. Currently prosecutors have discretion as to how far to go with investigation and whether to pursue charges. In many jurisdictions grand jury makes charging decision after prosecutor brings case. Thus sometimes self defense claim is as far as a case goes. I have no statistics, but given how few prosecutions we hear about and the annual 500k-3M DGUs in US I’m guessing most are not prosecuted.

Hey Kevin and Tom, great video as always. I was wondering: Could you put together a video with some statistics on self defense incidents? I had a friend get robbed at gunpoint a couple weeks ago. I seem to remember one or both of you talking about the statistics of complying with an assailant, but I don’t remember the specifics (my friend was unarmed and complied - she escaped unharmed). A video detailing information like this would be very informative. Thanks!

The difficulty with that kind of thinking is you're not viewing the actions that are going on you're labeling somebody a Target criminal. If more people had a mindset that they were shooting a person and less of a mindset that they were shooting something less than a person a criminal we'd have way less concealed carry owners on their way to prison.

He's just showing that he has the class and civility to show respect to the other parties even if they don't deserve it or reciprocate it themselves. That doesn't take away from the reality that he was about to knock their heads off if they hadn't stopped what they were doing and ran. They looked young and if they were hardened criminals, they would've been armed and killed him as soon as he started struggling. Hopefully this experience scared them straight.

@Kevin: 1st, it’s just SO refreshing to know and see/hear LEOs like you out there (yes you have a job to do, but to do it with the lil person in mind is phenomenal)! I also Know most LEOs are good ppl that being said, I’ve had my share (in my 51 yr life) of encounters of the worst sort of LEOs! There’s a huge diff between doing your job (having a bad day etc) and those with the power trip/chip on their shoulders (they DON’T deserve to wear the badge! The other issue is lack of training, both practical & legal). SADLY most LEOs don’t even know the laws they are tasked w upholding (NEVER ask a LEO about laws or for legal advice)! The good ones are the 5-10 yr veterans who have the street experience, have made Corporal/Sergeant etc. I live in SC, but tyvm for your years of service to the public & the Law Enforcement Communities! Officers like you make the country a better place! Especially the individuals like yourself who go the extra mile to make the general public more aware of what’s truly going on and makes the effort to do something about it!

How sad that the cops in the Uber case took his guns from him? I was shot at in Hall County Georgia. Those officers were awesome. Very professional and friendly. Huge 2A supporters and also of me defending myself if necessary. Not only was I open carrying, but I had been out shooting with my kids. I had two guns and about 400 rounds left in the truck. They never once even acted like they wanted to disarm me. They were very comfortable with another good guy being armed. I guess it pays to live in a pro-2A state.

The first guy - the thing he should do differently is not keeping the gun in the door. The moment the criminal opened the door, he couldn’t immediately get to the gun. His gun was literally taken away from him simply due to the door being opened. Keeping the doors locked isn’t really an option if you’re working as a ride share driver. Also, it should always be in a holster. There are many options for almost all situations.

I have a question and an idea for a video idea specifically for the attorney he has on in some videos. I personally like to carry a revolver for ccw for a multitude of reasons. From living in a big city, I have noticed after a shooting the police will use chalk to circle the spent casings on the ground for evidence and to help them interpret what happened. Since revolvers do not eject shell casings after firing each round. God forbid I have to defend myself will it complicate the investigation not having casings on the ground or will it presume as guilty like I am hiding the casings for a reason? No, but this line of questions is VERY important if you own a firearm. As soon as they see the caliber and the firearm, they'll know that you're not trying to hide anything. It's just the way a revolver functions. I also carry a revolver. Don't worry about it

Yes. Chest rig is SUPER effective for driving. If you look at some special forces, they have their pistol sidearm high on their body. I advocate this if you're not planning on your long firearm going down

You are right that it is important to check gear configuration with everything in place. Amazing how certain items interfere with each other. This is part of why officers tend to use drop (or thigh) holsters and SF use chest rigs - because standard (or high-ride concealed carry) hip holsters don’t work with body armor. Officers tend to stick with 3-o’clock carry because it is unobtrusive versus chest rig looking too military and upsetting ordinary citizens.

Now if you can't speak to the police about what happened some officer's can get irritated ( So why did you call if you can't give us information) that's tricky and tactical.And so even if you call an attorney,the police really get nothing to go on . Absolutely necessary that he call police. If he had not, those two would have done one of two things; they could have called to report crazy lyft driver who pulled a gun on them (and they barely escaped) or they would have continued their plan calling on other lyft or Uber drivers. In fact any bystander could easily have called cops with their own version of what they’d seen. In this case, as in case of attackers calling first, cops would have been looking for defender - pissed they had to look for him and aggressive because their assumption is that he’s armed and dangerous. After you call they’ll be a bit suspicious but assumption is that you are the victim in need of assistance.

Because of the possibility that the thugs would call 911 first, and then law enforcement enters the situation with only their side of the story, i.e. "We we're just getting an Uber ride and the driver went crazy, pointed a gun at us, and called us racial slurs!" If that's all that the police hears, then they have to assume that the defender was actually the instigator of the situation, and criminally liable for his actions. You want to be the first to call 911 so it's clear from the beginning who the victim is.

SADLY… politics are a part of life, period! We can’t change that or ignore it! I do my very best to avoid discussing politics as much as humanly possible!! Politics are based on personal opinions and EVERYONE has an opinion (Most ppl won’t listen, won’t rationally discuss, and will never change their mind!) I’m 24 years old and have been carrying every day since 21 and I have sadly already had to use my firearm in self defense that resulted in a death and thank god the police officers on scene were level headed and could see exactly why it happened the way it did and I was never charged but they did take my g26 for a couple months I just recently got it back and currently training with it again

I don’t doubt these real world stories but the way this video is produced honestly is just a distasteful sales pitch. How about getting more into what the detectives missed, and was found by the attorney, in the 3rd video? Surely there is a way to shed light on that without revealing the identity of those involved?

Facts: He got lucky...no disrespect to him. Verry happy for him. He was very smart to have a dash cam. That in fact was the pivotal evidence that allowed the police to relate and support him with a positive attitude. Good planning. We all need that. Any time you are sneak attacked, and outnumbered, luck is a wonderful thing. Just wondering why no safety protocols. #1 idea is CHECK ID before unlocking door. "PLEASE HOLD YOUR DRIVERS LICENSE AGAINST THE CLOSED FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW." DEDICATED DASH CAM ON THAT WINDOW. PURPOSE: ELIMINATE 2 MAJOR ADVANTAGES we hand to bad guys on a silver platter. (Are we totally clueless or what?) ADVANTAGE #1. ELIMINATES THEIR AYSYMETRIC INFORMATION AND ASYMETRIC TACTICAL ADVANTAGE. ADVANTAGE #2 : REMOVES ANONYMINITY , BAD GUYS ALWAYS THRIVE AND ARE GREATLY EMPOWERED AND EMBOLDENED IN THEIR ANONYMITY. FACT CHECK ALL THAT. IF They have a problem with that? ROLL. Why not use 100 or more horsepower to save you instead of a few foot pounds of lead?
