VIDEO DESCRIPTION:
Walk through Ray and Leslie's Tree House built on an organic permaculture farm nested in the middle of Little Haiti in Miami, Florida.
Ray and Leslie have been purchasing dilapidated lots around their house for 38 years and converting them into what is now a two acre farm. Also on their property, they have a variety of custom structures and an animal shelter. They are passionate about rescuing animals and growing their own food - of which they supply the entire neighborhood with fresh produce.
The permaculture farm is open to the public during the day. Ray and Leslie sometimes educate neighborhood kids on farming. They also rent out structures on their property (including this tree house) on Air BNB.
Shawnee, Ray's sister, raised her three kids in this multi-story tree house. The tree house includes an open kitchen on the ground floor. Access to the property's communal bathroom and outdoor shower is only steps away. Today, Shawnee has her own custom tree house oasis located a few miles down the road.

I love these ppl! not only are they environmentally aware and friendly, they're also engaged in helping many animals and many ppl! such amazing, kind ppl they are! ppl like them are truly a blessing to this world! on another note...I love your videos! tiny houses are great! I'm looking into a yurt, prob the 27 ft or 30 ft ones. I've been playing around with some floor plans. I think I'll have a bed built up like a loft and have the bathroom encased underneath the bed. I've seen the idea on tiny house hunters and absolutely loved it! I did love one of the tiny homes you visited where there were 2 lofts and the staircases were facing each other, one loft a bedroom and the other a living room type space. anyway, love your channel and your home visits with tiny home owners!

This was one of the most interesting videos I’ve ever seen! He is so unique & inspirational!! I loved the Emu scene! He’s got every facet of natural living! It’s almost like a village atmosphere going on. What a life! He’s created his own freedom! Thanks so much for this one!!

I love this guy...altruistic indeed. I'd say he walks his talk. I heard him say they do barter for the eggs...lovely. and, they don't kill the chickens once their no longer laying. Beautiful good soul. Thank you

Super inspiring tour. Not at all what you typically picture when you think of Miami, but it's wonderful to see people living small, sustainably, and with nature, and sharing it with neighbors. Thank you!

Downsizing your living accommodations is only one small part the whole life. What I liked about this video, despite the awkward beginning (over use of "yeah"), the interview moved on to more important aspects of a sustainable existence. Tiny living is about more than just a tiny abode. It's about making positive lifestyle choices and improving the environment in whatever circumstances in which you find yourself living.

+Tiny House Giant Journey - I know this is an older video, but maybe by the time I get to that point in my build someone will see this.. anyone recognize the home that's shown at the 0:13 second mark? I've seen almost all of the videos on this channel and maybe that's one I haven't made it to yet, but I adore the stair setup leading to the loft on that one! i'd love to see it a bit better, and if anyone can lead me in that direction, it would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!!

It's a shame that this place has been visited by Miami code compliance officers and ordered to year down the beautiful tree house and correct other code deficiency items. This almost seemed like a classic don't ask don't tell Miami situation until one person filed a code complaint and then this video documents the code violations.
