@@davidsworld5837 his point is that if you vastly exceed the speed limit you can significantly impact range. First thing, I commend you for being brave enough to post this video, knowing that the Tesla fanbase would probably tear you to shreds. Being an owner of a model Y myself, I can say I agree with the inconvenience with not having an adjustable headrest. For me at least, it definitely isn't a deal breaker, but for a premium car, adding that in would be nice. Now towards your other points regarding range loss, price/convenience of charging... it sounds to me that your problem is more towards EV cars as a whole than towards the model y. The model Y already has more range than every non-tesla EV, and has a supercharging network that isn't rivalled by anyone. Also, getting a home charger (atleast a NEMA 14-50 if you don't want the Tesla Wall charger) is 100% necessary for any owner. This car is meant to be a daily driver, homecharged every night, then supercharged for your roadtrips. If you are using this car ONLY for roadtrips, and ONLY supercharging, then of course the "gas" savings wouldn't be as significant. You even chose the performance model (which has less range) to be your road trip car lol. These are things you should have known prior to buying the car. For instance, I wouldn't buy a BMW M4, then complain that the exhaust is way too loud or that it doesn't have enough room to fit a family in it. That is not what the car is intended for!

7:46 if the car indicates 223 miles and you only get 100 miles, that means something is very broken inside it. Either one of the motors is broken or the disk brakes are always on. This could be solved with a visit to the Tesla repair service. Covered by the warranty. Teslas are the most efficient EVs. The only criticism I have is that if you do a lot of road trips, you should have gotten the long-range model with the most aerodynamic wheels, not the performance model. The website advertises that the performance model has a smaller range. And don't mind the haters. Nobody should live with a product that doesn't provide what they need.

Don’t know where you got your calculations on the cost of the super chargers. We just took a weeklong trip from Denver to Palm Springs in October in our Tesla Model 3. We charged about 200 miles every time we stopped, never spent more than $16.00 for a charge, which was approximately 1/2 of what I would have paid for gas in my BMW X3 M40i. Even though the navigation tried to recommend we stop and charge for 15 minutes every 50 miles or so, we made sure we were aware of where the super chargers were and drove as far as we could, generally to a level not less than 50 miles. We also found that the mileage was true, and we were driving at 80 mph, 100 degree weather with AC blasting. While you do have to allow extra time for charging, we found in our trip mostly through Utah that it added 2 hours per day to our 8 hours of driving and we used the time for eating lunch and also for walking and taking a break, so the time was not wasted.

Also you were going 75, that is not cruising of course you will lose range, for routing the first thing ppl say is to use abetterrouteplanner for road trips, the headlights can be adjusted through the center console though not recommended unless Tesla tech. Buying the car specifically for road trips and not knowing about range loss, speed, the higher cost of super charging over regular charging, and a better route planner or any of the other apps screams no research. What draw backs do you mean? Charging on the road? Not a problem with a Tesla. Very large no. of Supercharger stations all over the country. With many more coming on line every month. Look up Tesla dot com/supercharger and check out the global maps showing the SC network, click on any pointer and get related info. The general public is ignorant about what Tesla has in the way of its global charging network. Fyi, Tesla just announced they are building a factory in Shanghai to produce 10,000 Tesla super chargers a year.

I just ordered a model 3 but don’t have your issues: To old for road trips; Garage and breaker box share a wall; Can charge at home; & Not impacted by position of the headrest (I’m much shorter). Sell that baby and get your ends You spent A LOT for something that does not suit you.

1. The head ‘restraint’, not head rest. It’s SOLE purpose is to prevent your head being thrown back in the event of a rear collision. 2. Many extensive tests show you’re correct that the range isn’t quite what it says. But if you’re getting 100 miles when it says 223 then that’s purely your driving. 3. Adjust the headlights.

If the car is telling you to stay below 60mph to make it to your destination, and you don't listen, of course you're going to end up with 6 miles of range left as you approach the supercharger drenched in sweat. That's on you. The range estimate next to your speed assumes ideal driving conditions around 55mph. The range estimation on the Energy app is pretty spot on, and it will show you how your estimated range along the whole trip.

Hayden, the 22in rims are killing your range. If you plan to road trip often with the car, plan on swapping them for 18s or 19in. Also the headlights angle can be modified through the center screen, (try to google for this) I don’t remember the exact sub menu. Also charging will get faster as your Y supports V3 supercharging, expect 30-40% faster charging stops. And autopilot should lay off on the steering when notifications, they are adding driver monitoring by using the interior camera. Hit me up with any other questions that you have!

Just recently, a couple 68 yrs old in a 2015 model S came flying under a parked Walmart truck and also got bleeped. You have to pay attention!!! Taking a chance is fun but it is a deadly way of having fun. Be a hands on driver. A 22 yr old Model Y owner of a gray 2022 Performance edition traded his in ONLY because of the HEADREST and he bought a Mach E from Chase at Park's Ford in Gainesville, FL. Are you that guy? You made a mistake and looks like you will lose some money on the deal. I bought both of my car based off the round trip of 70 miles per day not cross country driving. Sure it can do that and I beg to differ its a better experience than a car you have to manually drive, but to each their own. The seats cover the majority of people but i understand not everyone so that is part of the test drive it before buy it or find a buddy with one. The nags on autopilot will go away once full self driving is introduced. Lets see which car is worth more after 4 years the M4 or the model Y :)

The biggest problem is range anxiety. Once enough superchargers are built, and they will be built, then that anxiety will decrease. Lets say superchargers every 10 miles, that will go a long way in making EVs more practical for most people. EVs are practical for a niche market, u shouldn’t buy them if you’re not in that niche because it will be a hustle! U need to use them for daily commuting, and have a garage to charge at home. This is not a Road Trip vehicle, not enough superchargers for you to go anywhere without worrying about it.

I've had the same experience with my Nissan Leaf. Highway range at 75mph is about half what you're supposed to get. If the guess 'o meter says I have a range of 80 miles, at interstate highway speeds (typically 70-80mph in my region), the range is actually about 40 miles. If you keep your highway speed between 55-65mph, the range hit is about 2/3 the rated range (80 miles range = ~55 miles in actuality). Now, driving that slow isn't really an option on the interstate highways in my area, where the speed limit is 70-80mph and everyone's going at least that fast. What I do is just drive on back roads as much as possible. It takes me longer to get there, but I'm going 40-50mph most of the time, allowing me to preserve my range. All EV's are like this from what I've observed. High speed highway cruising just eats up your battery like crazy.

The fanboys are all congregating in your comments. As a Tesla owner, my apologies for these trolls. You were honest that Teslas have up and downsides. There are a lot of downsides, but the fanboys will blame you for them if you dare mention any of them. Hey, that's what they do.

@Philip H, I agree, the Tesla trolls can be a bit much. He’s entitled to his opinion. Tesla quality control is far from perfect but hopefully will get better soon as demand continues to increase.

You can adjust the headrest. There is a button on the side of the drivers side seat and you can use it to adjust the headrest. Please don’t do a bad review on a car if your not speaking facts.

Sounds like EVs just aren't for you. If you do plan on getting an EV at some point, get a 14-50 plug installed - get multiple quotes - you'll need it unless you only occasionally drive it. Anyone buying an EV these days understands your road trips will be longer - probably an extra hour per 5 hours of driving. For me, I only recommend EVs for local/commuter and short road trips. You technically can road trip across the country, but there is no getting around physics - it will take longer than ICE cars. The new headlights on the Tesla cars are pretty nice now. The headrest seems like a fair critique - hopefully they make them adjustable soon.

Then you don’t need to use the word “literally”. Using it makes you look like you don’t believe in your argument.

@@fyoukungflu5881 Well I have seen most people complain the same and it’s not really about how easily fixable they are, it’s that when you buy a car that cost as much you don’t want to be pestered with these problems. That’s my point.

@@SaiKrishna-yq1ho Pestered? Headrest was an issue he should have noticed before buying the car. Just SIT IN IT dummy. The headlights are easily resolvable in Service Mode and can be adjusted easily and his range is HIS problem since he apparently is hitting the accelerator pretty hard. Its all subjective even though objectively, the Y is a great vehicle.

The headrests are like that so that you dont break your neck when u accelerate too fast 0-60mph in 3.0 secs 🚗💨

Fair points. Unfortunate to see how people react when people give thoughts that don't aline with theirs. It's good to hear from people that don't like the vehicle just as much as people who do.

Most of my cars did not have an adjustable headrest, some I could adjust the height but not the angle. The reasons why you don't like your car is the reason I test drive cars twice before making the purchase. According to other posts, if you're planning a long road trip, you should charge your car to 100%.

1) no car has headrest that move forward and backwards in that price range(main complaint) they only move up and down. 2) buy a long range version if you want more miles and trips. 3) what?
