As a half swiss and half japanese carpenter, i would recommend you to use woodfiber insulation in the next house. Woodfiber has way better capability to handle the humid climate in summer and cold in winter. And when you install it, it won't hurt...

@@ANTONINJAPANHOLA FROM PUERTO RICO A LITTLE ISLAND IN THE CARIBBEAN I HAVE MANY QUESTIONS FOR YOU LIKE WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE COLOR? CAN YOU COOK? DO YOU WORK OUT? WHAT SHOE SIZE DO YOU WEAR? DO YOU HAVE a GIRLFRIEND? WHERE ARE your parents? Did you have any siblings? Do you have or have any crimes anytime soon to get a pet? If so what kind of pets would you like to have? You like cats or dogs better? Have you ever visited Puerto Rico? So sorry for having so many questions.

I would worry about asbestos when renovating old dwellings. I’m not sure what the history of asbestos usage is in Japan.
@ANTONINJAPAN10 ай бұрын
They have been using a lot of asbestos here in Japan historically.. I’ve been lucky so far and have’nt encountered any that I know of ’knock on wood!’ Arigatou Tay!
@tayzonday10 ай бұрын
@@ANTONINJAPAN It was used to reduce flammability in a lot of structural components. Vinyl tile, foam ceiling panels, drywall/sheetrock, and of-course insulation . . . can all be a small percentage asbestos, in a way that can aerosolize when the materials are worked with.

In Brazil that’s normally used to build roofs, I was surprised then don’t allow it in US. There was never complaints about cancer while using it, but there are complaints on fablicarion.

compromise - a white glaze - it keeps the grain visible but seals snd brightens with transparent white ; i mix oil based paint into a penetrating conditioning oil.

Perhaps another travel or daily in a life rather than to stay around with renovations content. Tokyo has so much to explore, keep it up

What's the need for "fukt/ångspärr", out/inner wall? Would be interesting what combination is needed on that side of the world. Going to try go through all the videos in the series.

Hello anton, i love the content but im a bit bothered that you keep raising concerns on the winter cold and at the same time that summer is really hot. I understand insulation is good for the cold but how will it helo with the insane warmth of the summer? Cheers and good work :)
@ANTONINJAPAN10 ай бұрын
The insulation will keep the heat in wintertime - the same way it keeps the cold in summer time :) Think of it like a fridge or freezer, they do wonders summer time as well ✨
@T0getherAlone10 ай бұрын
Exactly! Insulation will keep your A/C inside your home in the summer. Canada much like Japan has very crazy temperature swings from season to season and we build our houses the same way, with plenty of insulation.@@ANTONINJAPAN

Maybe the lack of windows is to let less heat in during summer and less heat out during winter? Big flat panel led lights with warm color would probably be a great solution instead of a window where the view out doesn't matter. I have two wall mounted at home and gives great light during long dark winter days

You are getting very good composing and editing these videos, Anton. Great content today.

I live in Florida and houses here are build to keep the cold air in, otherwise you have to sell your soul to pay the electric bill and of course to resist hurricanes. They tend not to use wood as the main structure, since termites and humidity love it. My house was build in 1970 and there was a hurricane specially nasty in 92 that freaked out everyone and now I have to bring my roof to code otherwise my insurance will be stratospheric… well, and there are no free houses here. All of sudden everyone from NY and other northern states want to move here. If I were to buy my house today, it would be impossible.

Ist possible to buy an akiya as a vacation house? To be visited 1-2 months yearly for example

With the extra insulation for winter, what is your plan for airflow/cooling in summer?
@MultiDryder10 ай бұрын
I admit your renovations are reasons I'm considering just buying a house on japan instead of a akiya because while the price of akiya is appealing but like with how cheap akiya is so are property values in japan with there declining population also leads to declining property values
