When I'm in bed, I usually start remembering all good things that happened to me during the day in chronological order, no matter how small they might seem. I fall asleep halfway this process.

I can't believe I used to fall asleep before my head hit the pillow, and slept so deeply I woke up in virtually the same position I went to sleep in. Despite my stress level being way lower than the last 40 years, fibromyalgia has made my sleep a living nightmare. I toss and turn, wake up a dozen times, wake up in the morning exhausted, yet unable to go back to the comfortable and enjoyable weekend snoozes, my body is unable to function due to tiredness, yet my mind is absolutely awake. So I can't get up and catch up all my arrear admin, housework etc. Sleep tracking as far as caffeine, alcohol, sugar etc, reveals no pattern, sometimes my meds work, sometimes they don't 🙄🙄

I so sympathize. I've been there. (CFIDS, although personally I think all these labels are just to please the doctors. They seem to all switch symptoms.) The reason your meds don't always work is because your body chemistry is wacked out, to use a technical term, and until that settles down, no lasting improvement happens. That was the start of how I got to the point where I have a life and most of my sleep is good. I learned ways to do this for myself and others. I really hope you find your way to that, too. Just letting you know: it's possible.

Write down whatever is worrying you in full detail. When you are done, consciously relax the muscles in your body when in bed.

Ok, Mark... question, When I sleep I wake up fully refreshed. I had severe insomnia chronic...I do not lie awake and worry,... about my day, my life, things to do, my partner is amazing I I love my house,....Not I drink no alcohol, take no drugs nor watch anything on TV. It is peaceful here. I tried to be hypnotised many times and it did nothing. I was open to it. My insomnia is a fear of not falling asleep. I get panicked when it is 3 m and nothing is happening. I have had the thought of what if I can never sleep. My family sleeps. I have seen specialist and it comes up healthy. I was at an anxiety clinique and have no day time anxiety t ll. I am not depressed. Depression meds never worded, 20 years. Many doctors have said, yes. after testing, there is no depression. There is no anxiety, unless it is right before bed. I slept fin all through childhood. Klonopin 2 mg -1.5 mg. Zero side effects,... even when I stopped twice. No increased anxiety. It works like a dream, was on that dose for 6 years straight and slept l yet doctors have reduced my doege and lower doses do not work. 0.5 does nothing for sleep, 1 mg works occasionally about 50 % of the time only if my partner read to me every night until I fall asleep. The shame culture around it is so bad and doctors are pushed to stop this medication. But as my one doctor a kind seasoned man said, a psychiatrist, if it is working with total success, then there is no reason to stop. I would like to fall asleep naturally but nothing else has worked, meditations, yoga, cool room, dark room, sound machines.... eating right, exercise. No blue lights.... +++ I am fit, healthy, and I was tested twice a week for month at an anxiety clinique. I hear you that is is a feeling that needs to change.....Is there hope for sleeping normally. I have no other fears mind you. I can speak in public, I can handle any kind of person and I am an introvert I can relax them with ease. I do this for a living. I adore my work... but the shame and panic just around not sleeping. My minimum I need honestly, I love eight but need 6 hours to maintain no bad symptoms. I also disengaged the negative thoughts if I get 5.5 hours or less. I get up and do thing .... but can't go back to bed. Is there hope here?

What exactly do human beings get from reading books? Is it just a matter of pleasure, or are there benefits beyond enjoyment? The scientific answer is a resounding “yes.” that its a matter of pleasure, communication skills and connectivity... According to you what is the matter of reading books? 📚

I'm not sure that was the right interpretation of the 2014 placebo study. Its summary said "those in the "above average" sleep quality condition were informed that they had spent 28.7% of their total sleep time in REM, whereas those in the "below average" sleep quality condition were informed that they had only spent 16.2% of their time in REM sleep. Assigned sleep quality but not self-reported sleep quality significantly predicted participants' scores on the Paced Auditory Serial Addition Test and Controlled Oral Word Association Task. Assigned sleep quality did not predict participants' scores on the Digit Span task, as expected, nor did it predict scores on the Symbol Digit Modalities Test, which was unexpected."

The best way to fall asleep is to pretend you're attending a university lecture.
