To the Lance Crusader part. Just run 1 Vestal in the back for the big heals and 3 crusaders. No matter who is in third position, they will get to Holy lance, the rest of the crusaders will stun and deal decent damage to the frontline, and if you are in a pickle, you got 3 inspiring cry to cover your booty from DD and/or stress. Triple Crusader just feels soo fun. (Also, mandatory mention of the "Reynald and The last Crusade" meme video btw)

While the setup shown with dual crusaders is cool, the same logic can also be applied to Point Blank shot and 2 highwaymen, only without having to worry about pushing either of the Highwaymen too far foward, and said dual Highwaymen could also be combined with dual Crusaders for an actually viable team made with just starting Hero types.

Bonk Vestal is great, and I would often try to put one of the front line vestal skills on just in case of shuffle enemies. Holy Lance is the same with crusader, as I would keep it on in case of shuffle if I could, or if it was already there. Edit: Can't remember if I used Rank 3 or Rank 4 Man At Arms. I think Rank 3 I used sometimes. All of the success in Darkest Dungeon comes from maximizing your strengths and minimizing weaknesses.

I dont know if its really unconventional but flag is a surprisingly effective frontline stress heal support tank with suffer and endure! the stress gained is way less than the stress healed, even before the stress buff or trinkets. I pair him up with some of the weaker supports like crusader or anti all the time. Also frontline occultist owns in the cove or the darkest dungeon, his dagger crits most turns and he still manages to heal more than virtually any other class.

right? I often throw him in the very back, holy lance till he's at the front at which point the damage probably isn't needed and I should be stalling. Could even rock the rank 2 bonk vestal + a backliner if you're feeling adventurous, same sorta deal with the damage into stalling thing where she gets shuffled to rank 3 after the holy lances (not sure how good this is but it's an option)

Discovered this game recently (binged your videos. ). Favorite team so far 2 frontline shieldbreakers, Highway man in slot 3 and arbalast in the back slot. I call it the shuffle crew. Riposte and launching spears and stabs all day. Then Highway and arbalast for the back line. God it’s so good😊

not a specific unusual character build, but a really fun unusual comp for an entire team that I like to run is pseudo-mark blight Plague Doctor + Abom + Crusader + Grave Robber, give everyone their usual trinkets like blasphemous vial and the harvest key, except for Crusader who specifically gets non-Euclidean hilt, and Grave Robber who gets her bonus damage vs blighted satchel Turn one GR fades and the rest of the team goes full control, between them you have the ability to stun and blight any combination of enemies turn one, ideally you get at least one or two blights off. turn two, GR lunges whoever you blighted for the bonus damage, hence the "pseudo-mark". rinse and repeat, between the stuns and residual damage you should have won the fight by the time you want to lunge a second time with the enemy barely getting any actions out, so you end up taking very little stress and HP damage. if you do get hit, Crusader is there to play support and if things get REALLY bad, Abomination is here to hulk out as an emergency "I need this monster to die NOW" button

as a smaller side benefit, this team is also functionally immune to the entire disease mechanic because you've got the camping skills to clear out almost an entire team's worth of rabies at once

Currently running musketeer 4th spot, vestals in spot 2 and 3 and a crusader in spot 1. Bit of a slow burn but good results so far. Vestal in spot 2 has Dazzling light, hand of light, mace bash, and divine comfort for utility. Love the video! Great to see dd creators still at it

I like doing lance crusader and rank 4 MAA; they're both very fun. Another unusual build I've tried that I think is pretty fun is 3 grave robbers and 1 support type hero like antiquarian for team evasion or vestal for more healing. Plague doctor also works for applying strong blights, damage boost, and stuns but mediocre for healing. I equip the GRs with lunge, poison darts, shadow fade, and 1 open skill(usually pick to the face) and it turns into a carousel of blight and lunging and they hardly ever get hit by anything

4th rank singing man at arms is probably the best thing for leper besides jester. Not only does he buff the whole team, he can protect + damage buff leper on his own mark skills, and leper can also use martyr's seal (although risky, it's less risky that way)

A 2 highwaymen/2 crusader dance team is wildly entertaining. You have great stress healing, enormous damage and all 4 characters can do something from every level. You even have okay healing with Battle Heal. Lance/Smite or Stunning Blow/Battle Heal/Inspiring Cry on the Crusaders and Highwaymen with Open Vein/Duelist Advance/Point Blank Shot/Pistol Shot can do everything and you still have decent stuns if you run Stunning Blow instead of Smite. The only issue is that you can't stun the back 2 rows but with Holy Lance and Pistol Shot you're dumping so much damage into the back line that you just kill them in one turn anyway.

I love to make my 4 rank man at arms build with a leper, crusader and vestal. The crusader slow speed will almost always guarantee that man at arms procs retribution before going to rank 4, leper is king in rank 1 and can really pop off after getting buffed by the man at arms, the crusader can usually snipe any back rank with the appropriate trinkets and the vestal is just an amazing support.

I run graverobber (lunge and fade), 2x highway (DA), crusader with HL. its the ultimate "don't care which position I'm in and "kill before killed" party. Sometimes I'll drop the 2nd highwayman and run an antiquarian for the 4th rank.

I started running Lepard / Purge on his 1st move. Purge has +10 Accuracy over Heave, and Buffs Acc when it lands. It does ok damage and knocks back the enemy in 1 position. Works great at the start of the game.

I usually use 2 crusaders and a hellion for Prophet. Swan spam while the crusaders switch with holy lance. If one happens to be at rank 2 it can heal. Holy lance is a fantastic skill. Also a full healing team with Occultist rank 1, Vestal rank 4, Crusader and Highway in the middle. You start with riposte, followed with holy lance. So good

I play a guard-dodge position 2 Hound Master, equipping mostly trinkets that increase dodge odds (protective collar). My main abilities being Hound's Harry for the wide bleeds, Blackjack for stuns, Guard Dog for max dodge, Cry Havoc/Lick Wounds as filler depending on situation. Works like a charm when I'm in a pinch.

I like rank 4 maa a lot, specifically on certain boss fights like prophet and swine, where it’s really nice to mitigate on those squishier characters, but he’s got a glaring weakness for most regular dungeons in that he just eats stress. Especially if he’s guarding a rank 3, he’s going to be taking two characters worth of stress, and by taking him you’re also losing out on a backline damage/stun, leading to even more stress dealt. It’s also kind of hard to take a stress healer with him other than flag or frontline crusader, since you’ll be losing out on so much damage. I’m usually only able to get one maybe two dungeons out of him before he’s afflicted. If you’re looking to play an unconventional tank, my suggestion is rank 3/4 hm. Although he’s less consistent on bosses, he makes up for it by pretty much invalidating stress dealers (while stress healing himself) and also retaining good damage options if you just need to pump for a round.

I used to somewhat hate crusader because he is average at everything he does except damage and can't hit the backline consistently and not at all at position 1 and 2, while can't stun at position 3 or 4. But now I am getting some crazy ideas about 2 crusaders at 3 and 4 to swap and hit the backline and double up on the healing and stress healing when stalling, while running at 1 and 2 ether double hellion, double shieldbraker or 1 hellion + 1 shieldbraker combo. With all that damage and enough speed you are guarantied to kill rank 3/4 or both before they get to do anything and with the CC of Hellion stunning 2 people and generally both Hellion and shieldbraker having moves that devastate position 1 and Holy lance doubling up damage on position 2, chances are you can clean up the enemy at turn 2 or 3. I got to try it. :)

I've been running MAA mostly on rank 4 since i've discovered you could do it. Buffing AC and Crit % works well with Leper and Highman Can Take a lot of Damage thanks to his Trinket that help heal him Efficiently wich mean you can guard without much danger And hey ! Some mark Synergy I guess.

I use bonk Vestal because my HWM stars in rank 4 and goes to frontline with ripostes. If I have my team with full life and my enemies are resistent to stuns my Vestal literally does nothing during the first turn, sometimes the second too.

I think that's the damage from the Mirror Shield on Man-at-Arms. Trinket that reflects 30% of damage that he takes.

I haven't done a team around QDC, but I made teams around Vvulf's Tassel because it gives non-mark heroes mark synergy which is pretty cool. My favorite is Leper with Bounty Hunter who uses come hither to feed Leper. What about you?

Always thought that the trinket only gives extra stats to skills that already have mark synergy in the first place. There really are many mechanics that i haven't yet fully discover within this game.

@@ShuffleFM Entirely fair. I am using the 4 mods I mentioned, but have only managed to get Heiress and Maid off the stagecoach so far. What I can say so far is that Maid is fun. She's an aggressive dancer AOE specialist based on Sakuya Izayoi, if you're familiar with Touhou. (Miko is also Touhou based, themed on Reimu) Heir and Heiress are similar to each other, but with some key differences that affect their playstyles. Their common trait is that they both increase the amount of heirlooms you get and increase Heirloom stack size, drawing a few Antiquarian parallels. They have a couple of common moves between the two as well, most notably Promotion (1 per battle stress heal and bonus XP if the target survives the mission) and Research (various debuffs and mark application) but otherwise, the Heir has a more support oriented moveset, while the Heiress has a more offensive one.

Hello, can anyone help me out with a question about stress? If I have an item that says +15% stress does that mean that I’ll take 15% more stress damage? And regarding that if the an item for Jester says 15% stress skills how does that work?

Yes to the first question. As for jester stress healing skills means any stress heal ability he uses is multiplied by an additional amount and added to that. So if you have +15% stress skills and stress heal for 10, it will instead be 12. The math takes it to 11.5 but the game rounds in your favor so it goes to 12.

Heyy Shuffle! I've always hated Restore because it's a slow heal and it doesn't get people off Death's Door, and also because it bleeds the Flag. It says "Self: Bleed" without a % chance, so how does Flesh's Heart prevent Bleeds?

Its a 160 percent chance in champion and its dependent on his bleed resist so flesh heart makes it so that you dont self bleed

It just doesn’t say, but it does have a chance so you can reduce that chance and potentially resist it. 160 in champion sounds higher than I remember it but patches come out rather often for a game this old.

It means they've been to a darkest dungeon. If it's another dd mission, they either suffer massive stress or can't go at all, and if it's a regular mission, everyone in the party gets +50% resolve xp

Some cool ideas, I have recently been thinking about putting two crusaders in the back with their holy lances, I guess it's a viable strategy. The one thing I have a question about is didn't you used to dislike bellow because it has to go through accuracy check and then a debuff check? Or is it good in this particular build? Maybe I missed something.

My opinion on bellow has changed over time. It still sucks to have to go through 2 checks like that, but debuff resist on enemies isn't usually high so it works out. When it sticks it's very strong
