Doc, I have said this many many times to multiple people. KZbin is and has always been free college classes in my mind for sure. I learned how to work on my Honda vehicles here, I learned how to use a analog board for mixing a band then learned the same thing using digital interfaces. All free lessons all here on KZbin. I have saved thousands fixing my refridgerators cars dryers ect..... and yes I have even been paid to run sound over the last 7 years. Only free thing in the world and many don't take advantage of it.

When my grandmother passed, my uncle told me to keep all the glassware under the bar. My grandfather built one of the most beautiful bars you have ever seen and that bar was loaded with sets of every kind of glass in so many colors. He bought those from all over the world back in the 50's. I was 27 when she passed and never really drank other than beer. I had no desire for that glass ware and no bar to even come close to keeping it all. What I would do have that in my home today to remeber them both. Let alone being able to use glasses they once held. I did keep a couple of each style but wish so bad I had that day over.

when your picking glasses for a public bar, which glassware would be a solid start ? I see alot of bars using just a standard glassware for all there drinks, is there really a reason to have all the different types of glassware ?
@willk4862 Жыл бұрын
Based on my casual basement bartending, I'd go with the follow ideas. Mixed drinks and shots which are not special regarding their appearance, stick with the shot glasses, rocks glasses, the basic looking ones. Cocktails which have an appearance to them and might get garnished, use cocktail glasses, wine glasses, margarita glasses, saucer glasses, etc. And then just make the final decision for the size of the glass obviously based on the size of the drink. You could put a cocktail in a flute glass if you wanted and it didn't have a cloudy texture. This is just my opinion. I'm not a professional bartender. Just in my mancave.

I mean... the glass really does affect the experience of the drink, however slightly, due to the exposure to air and mouthfeel though, yeah?
@mydadgaveupopcorn2 жыл бұрын
Usually not so much with mix drinks and cocktails. When the glassware really comes into play is beer, wine, anything you're drinking straight, etc usually because you want to smell, taste, and feel the drink. A lot of it is more about the experience than the consumption. With a margarita, you're drinking to feel it, not so much because you want the mouthfeel or to relish the different notes of the tequila.
@panix62 жыл бұрын
@@mydadgaveupopcorn plenty of people, myself included at times, actually drink to take in the notes of the individual ingredients in combination with each other, not just drinking to get drunk. You don't really take note of that stuff until you use cheap ingredients and compare against those of a better quality
