I burned out pretty bad a few months ago and experienced some rough anxiety because of it. My nervous system became hyper sensitized and I was experiencing a lot of physical anxiety symptoms. I got checked out by my women’s doctor and PCP (vitals, urine sample, blood work, EKG) and everything was normal. Since then, the last few periods I have had - I have experienced anxiety several days before starting my period and sometimes directly after it ends like a couple days after. I also experienced some ectopic heartbeats with anxiety and have now only really experienced them during my period.

The OBGYN I went to just wanted to put my BC and when I asked about side effects and what nutrients maybe I should be conscious of replacing if I go on it he said there aren't side effects to birth control, it doesn't make you gain weight- if it did it wouldn't be being sold and where am I reading this stuff?.... he also said no need to test hormones because they change every day. Soooo idk. I have cycle exacerbated anxiety. It used to be terrible. It has improved since going gluten free, but there is still some there. Also have some mild coarse hair growth on chest, abdomen, inner thighs, & chin. Acne most of the month except a few days here and there- a couple after ovulating and a couple towards end of my cycle... But last scan of ovaries showed no cysts. So unsure of what to think. I'm currently nursing my 2 year old, but this was going on for years before I became pregnant with him too.

Hi Sally, We check hormones all the time and they follow specific patterns ever month (day to day they will be different). There is evidence that they can contribute to weight gain (new video on this soon). Find a doctor that does bioidentical hormones or functional medicine.

Female. Too much of estrogen is bad. Not in good mood. How do we make the 3 hormones balance?

How to we men cope with extreme behaviors of our wive's hormonal issues? Walking on eggshells doesn't work. It's not easy to even discuss getting help without suffering consequences..

Cavalry, good question. It sounds more like it may be a marriage counseling type thing.

Cavalry Scout As a female dealing with severe emotional swings & anxiety from my birth control, plus being married I will tell you that it isn’t easy & you have to have a strong relationship to survive it, but it can be done. Counseling is a very good idea. She needs counseling & so you do to help you learn to cope. She has to be willing to get better. She also may need to drop the birth control if it’s causing it. I had to, but everyone’s different. There is no such thing as a magic pill you can take to cure problems with the mind. I’ve found natural remedies best suit me such as aromatherapy (lavender is a great one), massage, yoga, meditation, full spectrum CBD oil, & herbal teas like chamomile for relaxation. Exercise is really important, vitamins, & eating healing foods. Now I have mild anxiety anyway, so when I add hormonal birth control it causes it to shoot through the roof! I thought I was going crazy! It took two & half weeks after stopping it to feel better. I only took 5 days worth of pills before it got real bad. I’m 37 years old & have always tolerated birth control well until I reached age 35, that’s when I noticed problems with it. Our bodies change as we get older. Just sit her down, may help to have a nice dinner made for her, & tell her that you need to talk. Tell her that you need her, love her, & have been worried about her health. Do not mention emotional swings just yet. Wording is important! Tell her that you’ve been doing research on hormonal imbalances with birth control & it might be best to at least discuss other options. Be supportive any way you can. I know it’s hard for men as well. I’ve dealt with both ends of it b/c my husband also has emotional issues. We just have to learn to work together. Good luck!

@@ladyscarfaceangel4616 Thank you for all of the good advice.. I think we're a bit older than you.. a hysterectomy was the apparent onset of the "hormone issues".. She was prescribed hormones to help alleviate the roller coaster of symptoms but in the past year she opted to to wean herself off the hormones AND an antidepressant that she was taking.. Obviously this wasn't her most well thought out decision because she moved out a around the time I wrote my comment above and just yesterday told me that she had filed for divorce. . All of this happened so quickly I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. So with that said, I'm not in a position to suggest much of anything to her..

Can Bio identical progesterone pills help calm the vagus nerve, so that you can get into REM sleep without jerking when you try?

It can help calm the mind and central nervous system, not sure about the vagus nerve specifically.
