I didn’t even let my kids see what was in my temple bag! I didn’t think they were allowed to. Thank you for sharing so much. Especially about the veil being rent! The interpretation with general Christianity pretty much throws away everything Christ 1:48 set up because that’s what they take from the veil being rent. I really appreciate these videos!

This video is a bit misleading. First, these are some minor things that are the same between ancient temples and our temples. Mainly, because we copied some things from them. However, there are major differences, and I do mean major. We need to be honest when we post videos.
@kellherman Жыл бұрын
Is it because “we copied things from them”? What makes you say that? And what are these major differences? In my opinion, there are even more similarities that she failed to bring up.
@mikez1114 Жыл бұрын
@@kellherman There are huge differences. Read the Old testament and you will see difference after difference. The O.T.Tempes were part of the Law of Moses and was run by Jewish people, not LDS. Nothing wrong with copying. Joseph Smith copied some Masonic handshakes and so on. Does this answer your question?
@ElderJoseph Жыл бұрын
@@kellherman Joseph Smith went through a masonic initiation ceremony and became a free mason, pledging to keep the initiation ceremony secret as part of his oath. Soon after he just basically copied it for his own Temple Endowment Ceremony, hand clasps or handshakes, signs and tokens etc. Basically it's plagiarized from the Free Masons and it doesn't go back to Solomon or the biblical era but is a much later invention just a few hundred years ago perhaps? I'm not sure off hand. The compass and square are Masonic symbols representing tools of architecture. The LDS endowment ceremony also used to have the Masonic Five Point of fellowship at the veil but that was removed around 1980 if I recall correctly. Perhaps you could find out why? Also the blood penalty throat slitting enactment was removed and the Christian Minister shown as representing non LDS church ministers as hirelings of Satan for Money was also removed.

What happens in them is nothing like what happened in Isreal temples. “Served similar purposes” is completely false. The ancient Israelites temple was about the ritual slaughter of animals, the closest modern lds temples have to this is the boood oaths, death penalties. You can make an argument that Joseph used to slaughter animals,but that hasn’t been done in over 150 years. You say the garments are like those of ancient Israelite priests but the images you show are completely different. I thought you weren’t supposed to show the sacred garments anyways. Don’t be shy about the “washing and anointing” ceremony, tell the people that until 2006 people wore only a poncho and temple workers would touch people’s breasts and pounds with oil, under the poncho(yea poncho with open sides, basically just a small sheet with a head hole.)

What a sweet enthusiastic and sincere young lady. Perhaps not as enthusiastic as the Mormon church, with an astonishing 168 operating temples, 41 being built and around 68 planned across the world. Despite what this lady says, Mormon temples are completely unlike the Israelite temple at Jerusalem, that was built at God's detailed commandments, one temple only, to his glory in Jerusalem, and enable the Jews to fulfill their obligations in keeping the covenant law God made with them exclusively, for example animal sacrifices for the sins of the people etc. Mormon temple works were unknown to them, and celestial marriages, baptisms for the dead, and exaltation to personal Godhood etc were not only not practiced but would be unthinkable to the Jewish people, as would statues of angels (Moroni) and men(Joseph Smith). 1Cor 3:16-17 , know ye not that ye are the temple of God?....... For the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are. Followers of Christ are called the temple of the Holy Spirit. I quote from Ed Deker an ex Mormon, " what I experienced in the Mormon temple ritual could not be of God, if what Jesus Christ did on Calvary was of God, it's either Jesus or Joseph, the temple or the cross. Kind regards to all especially Mormons.

I thought of this after reading your comment, from Deuteronomy 12 Then it shall happen that to the place which the Lord your God shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there, there you shall bring all that I command you: your burnt offerings, your sacrifices, your tithes, the wave offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which you vow to the Lord. Just one temple, like you were saying. That was also where they brought their tithes.

The veil in the temple was torn from top to bottom and Jesus Chris became our temple. There has never been a holy temple created since Jesus destroyed the temple upon his resurrection, He created the access to the Kingdom of God by the shedding of His blood on the cross, we now have Jesus as our temple. Hebrews 9:24 For Christ has not entered the holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us. Why would anyone want to go backwards, Christ is now our temple according to the New Testament, Rev 21:22 But I saw no temple, for the Lord God almighty and the Lamb are its temple. Due to the laws of the Old Testament, people were slaves to the works of the old law. We are now free, we can access the Kingdom of God any place, anywhere and at any time, we do not need old temples to dwell with God.
@dylanwilliams2202 Жыл бұрын
You are misquoting scripture and have no idea what our temples are for. You also don't know history. The temple of Jeruselam was destroyed in 70 AD by the Romans, not by Christ. Before 70 AD the Jews continued using the temple after Christ's death. In fact, Peter and Paul went to the temple and worshipped there (Acts 2:46, Acts 21:26-28). Hebrews 9:24 and Revelation 21:22 aren't saying what you think they are. Hebrews 9:24 is talking about Christ appearing in heaven to the Father after his death and not anywhere else, it has nothing to do with temples. Revelation 21:22 is talking about things that will happen after the millennium, meaning that after the millennium and we are all resurrected God and Christ will be the temples (also temples won't be needed by then). Our temples are for exaltation, not salvation. We can access God's Kingdom anywhere but to increase farther than just the main door (I am saying that symbolically) we have to make and keep more covenants with God. Those covenants are only done in temples because of the sacredness of them. Same thing with doing things on behalf of the dead, it is only supposed to be done in sacred places where the veil is thinest and the corruption of the world is kept out. Temples have their place and purpose before Christ and during his life and they do have a place now after his death.

@@dylanwilliams2202 I don't mean this to sound snarky or impolite in any way, but does it matter if a scripture passage is misquoted if that passage hasn't yet been properly translated? It's a question that interests me; how does that work in the minds of my LDS friends? 🙂❤️
@dylanwilliams2202 Жыл бұрын
@@jmalko9152 Lol what? Obviously how you interpret something matters. Buddy when we mean "so far it is translated correctly" that is to say we reject versions of the bible that were translated with an attempt to have the translators beliefs projected into the translation. The new international version and New world translation being the 2 that come to mind. When the Book of Mormon talks about things being taken away from the gospel it's meaning from the message preached. Plus the Catholic and Ethiopian bibles contain more books that aren't in protestant bibles so that is also likely being referenced there to. The bible for the most part is translated correctly in term of word for word translation. However based on the way English works some meaning of passages can sound different in English vs Hebrew or Greek and can create a message that wasn't intended by the original author. Here is an example, 1 Corinthians 7:8 says "I say therefore to the unmarried and widow" which technically is a correct translation and gives off the impression Paul is taking to all unmarried people and widows. However, The Greek word translated "the unmarried" (agamois) has a masculine ending, meaning it can only refer to males. Unlike English, in Greek (like many other languages) words referring to people have different endings depending on whether males or females are being talked about. It is far more likely that "the unmarried" was supposed to mean widowers, men whose wives had died. This makes good sense of the masculine ending and goes well with the accompanying "widows". It makes sense that Paul would deal with widowers and widows together. Hellenistic Greek (the language in which the New Testament was written) has no word for a "widower" so the Greek word "agamois" which is found in verse 8 and translated to "the unmarried", was used instead. So verse 8 would be better translated and *understood* as "I say therefore to the widower and widows, it is good for them if they abide even as I". This is saying nothing about people who were never married to begin with.

@@dylanwilliams2202 Thanks for the information 🙂 But I'm not sure if I'm following you. Is the King James, at least, translated without the translators attempting to project their beliefs into the translation? Or are you saying that no Bible today is properly translated? The LDS temple teaches a Pagan ritual that requires "Works" in exchange for "Eternal Progression". Becoming a God after you die is what the Ancient Egyptians were all about. It's not Christian at all. You'll come out with the symbols of "work" over your heart for the rest of your life, the compass and square.
