Hi guys, Yes yes it's that time again, we're back with another one! It took me all night to finish this one up so i'm dead tired. But wanted to bring this one out for you gust as fast as possible!! There can be a few mistakes in the editing, but as long as the message is clear it is all good! I want to take a moment to speak on one topic in the video and clearafy it. I talk about work and dance, and the importance of understanding your talents. Please don't get discouraged by what I say and think that I mean that you guy can't do what you want to do. What I am trying to tell you guys is that finding yourself and your talents eighter inside of dance or outside. Is more important than rushing towards working as a dancer and wanting to make money. I've had a few messages of dancers asking me how they can start earning money, but when I saw their dance video's, they did not develope something authentic and contributing yet. In other words they wanted to become a professional but their abilities where still amateur. That is no problem, but your reason for why you do something, shapes the product. And those who want to become famous, just for the fame. Tend to not have a quality product (not always) Hopefully it makes sense!!. Love Ya'll

I started learning Cuban salsa at the age of 30. It is never too late for anything, if you love to do it. I do not kid myself that I will be a competitor, but if I put all of my time, passion and effort, anything is possible. Just dance for the dance sake. And Kevin, holy smokes man. HOLY SMOKES!! Your final dance in Shanghai when you dance to Common-Universal Mind-man, I broke the replay button. Your moves are off the chart.

For the last six months I've been dedicating my entire free time (I work during the day) to practice my dancing because I really want to do something with it. But during this last month I felt really lost cause I wasn't progressing anymore. Then, going from a dance video to another I found you, and absolutely loved your style not just because you are amazing, but also because I felt really related to your style and your way of understanding dance. This video really helped me, specially in the 3 ways of training part. So I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart, and if I ever make it to the big leagues and find myself in front of you, I will literally kneel before you man. Thank you so much and keep doing your thing. Greeting from a dancer wannabe from Chile. :D

Paradox, thank you for your wise words and continuous contribution to the hip hop world! Couple of questions: Intention seems to be a huge factor affecting my dance. For example, when I dance in a cypher, my feelings are different from when I dance in front of a camera, or in a battle, and especially when no one is watching. My goal is to not let my intention effect my dance and be free to move no matter what pressure is put upon me. How do these pressures effect you? How do you overcome them? You seem to dance so freely no matter if it's a showcase, a solo video, or a battle! Next question; battling gives you such a short time frame to say the right thing - emcees nowadays may even cut your round shorter if they don't feel impressed by your dance.. how do you suggest approaching a round in a battle? How can you maintain freedom in dance while having a great pressure to impress? Much peace and love.

After watching yours videos I’ve seen improvements in less than a day with my creativity all jokes aside🙌🏽. I took all of the things you recommended but one in particular. when you said you play the music and hold your arms out and try not to move. That was difficult but I got the hang of. And you said the beat makers make music to create a certain atmosphere and that’s when I did something that really helped me to stop repeating the same moves. pick the song or beat you want do dance to this technique works best with song with no lyrics (beats). and create a scene or (movie) in your head that fits the music. don’t dance just listen and imagine what the song is telling you. talk it out if you have to. The better you can imagine a scene or paint a picture to the music the more creative your dance will be. It is difficult for the first few attempts but it really helps with mental preperation. Once you can paint a story in your head that matches the dance, restart the song and you will find yourself doing a couple of new thing while you dance. For anyone watching this in 2018. Reply to this comment and let me know if this helped you🙂

Hey Paradox. I absolutely love your videos. You inspired me to start dancing on my own, and I absolutely love it! I do have a problem though: I feel like I'm the only hip hop dancer in my area. Nobody else seems to be interested in the same thing and the only hip hop dance classes nearby seem like they only teach choreography but not important things like musicality, creativity, etc. Most of the dancers here are not that great. It really sucks. My question for your next Ask a Paradox video is, how do you find a good hip hop community, and what should I look for when I look for dance classes? Thank you!

Hey Kevin! Great work, once again. Thanks for putting in the effor for all of us to keep learning. Since the comment section is already full of compliments, I will go straight to my question :) I am interested in hearing your opinion about judging battles. It seems like the criteria and rules change from battle to battle depending on who are the judges. I have heard phrases such as "it comes down to what I like", "it's all about what makes me feel something" or "it's just a matter of opinion". Somehow all these statements seem contradictionary to what all competitions or evaluations usually are based on. So, my question has multiple parts. 1. What do you think of the judging in general in street dance and especially battles at the moment? 2. When you judge battles, do you have a system? Or what do you take into consideration? 3. What makes a good judge? Cheers! - Lilli / Finland -

Hi, Paradox. Thanks a lot of what you are doing!!! You are my inspiration!! Please-please could you answer my question...? It is very important for me... I have been training popping and hip-hop dancing and my dream is to be a good popping dancer. I have a question about your PHYSICAL TRAINING.. how you train your muscles because i know that while you dancing you can hurt your knees or your back or something else. Maybe you use some yoga positions or go to the gym or do some exta excersise for the deep muscles of your body. I know that some popular dancers were training a lot fighting or tricks performing or playing active sports games like basketball in their past and ,because of this, they have good muscles. But i did not( And 1 year ago I started to train boogaloo rolls a lot and now I have something like MUSCLE SPASM of my leg and i can not train anything but robot and tutting. Doctors say that all modern dancers need to have a good muscle preparation before the training because in my country many dancers after 26 years old are not healthy . I have this problem because my muscles do not work right..some of them are too weak even though for popping. So i hope that i need just to prepare muscles well before dancing but I am not sure that i do the right things. I really wanted to ask a professional like you because you are very sinserely and carefull about people and their dancing...

Hello Kevin. First of all thanks for spreading hip hop dance, knowledge and also your points of view. I think you're doing a great job with this series. Could you please give us your definition of groove and maybe tell us which definitions you've already heard and which of those you do support. I've already had several discussions on this topic and people, as they are, often tend to defend themselves and to present their definition as something that is written in the bible. I find it important to appreciate the excange and to question your truth aswell as mine. Also since knowledge, for me and many people, is one of the foundations of hip hop besides peace, unity, love and having fun I think it is an important question to be answered. warm greetings Blunt from Austria

Hi Kevin! Thank you for sharing your knowledge, it really helps to understand the dance and to improve the way of thinking. I have a question for you. Some time ago I took a serious injury, which makes me kind of disabled at least for a year. Technically I can walk, but every simple step I take gives me really much pain, which makes kind of impossible to dance hip hop or familiar styles, because actually doing the basic bounce can injure me even more. In this situation I'm really afraid of loosing my skills, because I can't see any ways for myself to practice. I can take my time and develop so many ideas and concepts, but my body has nothing to do (except for hands). So my question is: is there a way to improve myself, or at least not to lose the experience I have?

Hey kevin thanks for all the videos i watch every single one of them helps me a lot! i have a question ... i live in Lebanon a third world country and we don't have much of a hip hop culture here ... i try organizing battles etc but that motivates others not me ... ive been dancing and training for a long time now but the problem is there is no one here to challenge me or inspire me... i try traveling from time to time to get inspired but i cant always travel because of financial issues and other country related problems ... i get demotivated alot and for the last 6 months ive been almost depressed to a point i rarely practice! i try talking to people and share the knowledge but people here dont realy know what im talking about and they look at me like what is this crazy guy talking? what can i do to stay motivated and keep going because i love hip hop so much i wouldn't want to stay on the level that i am today in the coming days i want to go higher PS . i tried practicing with b boys but of course its not the same feeling thank you for your time peace :)
