As a local Alaskan, the easiest and most likely solution is “everyone in town shoots them with rifles” BUT Alaskans use what’s called “Happy Lights” in the winter, which are UVB lights we use because we don’t have enough sunlight, and it makes us depressed. So as a result, the humans should be safe indoors wherever they have a happy light. Second solution, once figuring out they’re vampires, start testing original lore like crosses and garlic. Probably dumb and will get you killed, but you can’t find the right answer without trial and error!

Come ooout tooo plaaaayaaay!!!". *The vampires feeling insulted from seeing and hearing their favorite french fries (aka a human) taunting and calling them out, will converge at the car in the middle of the town. - Meanwhile everyone else in the town, mercilessly shines UV light at the vampires as they stand confused and insulted at the car in the middle of the town. As Sheriff, I do the "stay in your homes" thing, but with the added "imma come pick you up" and get everyone to a safe spot. One does not randomly shank a dude in *Alaska*, meaning either the killer is a townie with a vendetta or an absolute psycho; either way, group up is best choice. I'd tell everyone to bring a gun and spare lights, then we light up the vehicles because there's no way we can do a stealth. Low on food? Brightest caravan you ever done did see. Pair off by gender for bathroom breaks. We either live it out or get help, man.

Something that always bothered me with this movie is how wasteful the vampires are. They roll up to this town and have 30 days to drink the town but instead they murder (usually without even drinking) 98% of the entire town in the first 30 minutes. Like the whole point was to be able to move about for 30 straight days

Realistically there's no way the whole town could just go completely silent for a month without some sort of government or military intervention. There has to be people who call friends or family or work associates every day. There has to be businesses that have regularly scheduled transactions. There has to people dropping off supplies and transport vehicles. I love the idea of this movie but when you think about it for a few seconds it all just falls apart.

I wish they did something more like this. Maybe if people give it enough attention Netflix or some other streaming company might make a new film or series out of it. Yeah, there are also multiple daily flights coming in and out of the town. Not just small bush planes and helicopter but also proper cargo planes. All inorder to keep the town stocked with food, fuel, and moving people in and out. For the movie to have occurred the way it did the vampires would have had to destroy and kill the crew of about 20 different planes. More than likely this would prompt a police response at least. But considering the complete silence it may draw a national guard or regular army intervention.

@@dantai68 planes don't normally fly at night in super cold regions I thought due to high probability of fuel freezing and very poor visibility. They can't fly too high because the fuel will freeze faster and they can't fly low at night cause they'll crash so they typically fly during the day. I feel like ... After 3 or 4 weeks of radio silence someone might head over there to check on them but I don't think the first response would be immediate military smack down. Plus the closest town is 4 days away in the best conditions and people trying to get there quickly. There are periods of the year where these towns are inaccessible for several weeks or months.

I got the impression that the vampires, being that they have their own language, are a large and highly advanced singular colony, strongly implying there would be many vampires, maybe even hundreds more on board the ship. The vampires we see in the movie are the soldiers, who collect food and resources, while many more vampires are required would be required both to operate the vessel and possibly carry out other functions like breeding, education or administration So if I were them I wouldn't go near the boat with a ten foot stake

You are very right. This is why there are daily flights in and out of the town via airplane. Including small bush planes the movie show were destroyed, but also large cargo planes, passenger planes, and the like. Looking at the flight schedules there should be between 20-50flights in and out of the town in a week. Meaning over the course of the 30 days about 80-214 flights have gone on. As far as I can tell from doing a quick booking and some things from people there. The flights don't really change all that much. Meaning the vampires would have likely hijacked, destroyed, and killed the crew of a few dozen airplanes.

As to solution number 1, the one problem is that you're also alerting the vampires, and giving them a warning as to what your plan is. They can then pick you off one by one as you make your way. Also, as to the boat, would no-one not notice that a boat like that mysteriously ended up next to Barrow Alaska? Also, I somehow doubt that every single satellite phone was destroyed - (e.g.) no-one had a backup phone and dish hidden away?

I haven’t seen the film but I suppose one of the questions that affects whether or not you could have foreseen the attack of the vampires would be whether or not the existence of vampires is widely known in the world of the film. If their existence isn’t known then you really can’t foresee it so you’re always going to be surprised by the attack. If their existence is known then it should be relatively easy to put together the clues of their involvement and actions much like in the sponsor of this video, Hunt A Killer.

I'm not sure escaping to another town, by car or boat is a good idea, specially since the vampires are smart; I don't think the vampires would leave their home/means of escape unguarded and the characters have no kdea of what could be in there or why they even left the boat in the first place (maybe the vampires are stranded on Barrow or the boat is running out of fuel) and as some other comments said, there's a chance the boat something like a colony to them. Escaping by car is also.not that great since the vampires can run as fast/faster than the police vehicle, and even if they dont attack the protagonist while he drives, they could just shadow him. Also what would he say if he gets to another town? "Please help there are vampires in our town?" I'm not sure it would work, since who could possibly lead an attack on a random Alaskan town? Maybe theh could say it's the Russians but even then they probably wouldnt believe him and send at most a few policeman to check things out. And in the case the army somehow is convinced, they would just strat bomb the town killing all the survivors. In summary: Fat leech shoot'em-up is the best option.

One problem with the gun plan is that with the fast movements of vampires, you are more likely to shoot/ get shot by one of your companions. As those vampires rush inside whatever building your holding up in, you may be able to take out a few but with all those other people in the line off fire (not to mention those vampires will plunge into the midest of your group) talking friendly fire will be inevitable and that would either make you hesitate as those vampires thin out your numbers or even reduce your own numbers due to friendly fire.

You fail you recognize the fact that there may be more vampires on the boat. Such as women, children, and elders. They have to reproduce somehow, so it stands to reason that they would have children and people guarding those children. Them getting on the boat may be the equivalent of walking into their nest.

Unless there’s a military bunker or something in the town, the vampires could take a car, or that weird chainsaw truck, and plow it through any walls they have set up. Or they could throw Molotov cocktails and set the building on fire, driving everyone outside. Or the VAMPIRES could take the guns, and start a firefight instead of just ripping people to shreds.

One thing that bothered me immediately was the population. Barrow isn't a village--it's not a metropolis, either, but it has about 30 times the population stated (about 4000). That would change the situation a bit.

I love the 3rd solution may be a bit iffy, there’s likely dormant vampires in the ship and the vampires are significantly older than humans so that boat could be old as hell if it’s their base or even crashed for that matter. Glad to see this movie on here I don’t know why I like it so much but this one stuck to me
