Tips: - Remember brake fluid can damage paint but it is neutralized by water. I like to pour some water over the caliper and reservoir after everything is all sealed up. Just make extra sure not to get any water in with your brake fluid. If you do be sure to flush it again a few times over. - Good idea to lay down some towels over the painted surfaces in case you spill any brake fluid, which is easy to do (I wish I would have shown this in the video) check this video out for a neat idea: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nIa6gGOJhr1pY7c TW200 hydraulic front brake service interval: - Inspect brake hose every 3,000 miles or 6 months - Replace brake fluid every 2 years - Replace brake hose every 4 years find it here: pneumatic vacuum brake bleeder (requires air compressor): amzn.to/2RbnpRB (amazon affiliate link) hand pump vacuum brake bleeder: amzn.to/2V1gY2I (amazon affiliate link) reservoir seal (part # 5RB-25854-00-00): amzn.to/2Rg13hO (amazon affiliate link) buying from an affiliate link will help me support the channel at no extra cost to you, thanks!

Sorry if long. 1) good job. 2)Visual inspection is hard with the protective sleeve on brake line. 3) I remove caliper before fluid change(new pads), remove pistons not damaging dust boots, sometimes you can see a deposit ring on pistons that can have brake drag. I use Dremel with polishing wheel and brake cleaner to remove ring. I found this out replacing pads on my ZRX1200R , you don't notice until new pads push the pistons in farther.
@TDubsKid5 жыл бұрын
no worries. thank you. that is true but at least you will know if something scraped it bad from the outside, oh wow that is quite the job. I may have to look into that when ever I rebuild the caliper, thanks!

Dude, great videos, I'm just getting into dual sporting on a farm in upstate NY with a '78 Yamaha DT175 i just bought. So much fun and so practical for farm work! I am learning quickly that there's a lot to taking care of a bike if you are riding it off road. Very impressed by your tech skills and know how. Where does all that come from for you? are you a professional mechanic? Or, like, well-inclined mechanically and really know how to read a service manual? Or finding this info in some forum or youtube somewhere? thanks man, happy riding!!

Great vid TDubs. Thanks for taking the time to show three different methods. For the screws on the reservoir cap, they're JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) and the main reason they always round off and strip. Last time I bleed my brakes I rounded the corners, now I'm due for a service and extracting a screw. Are you planning on getting the full spring on your forks?
@TDubsKid5 жыл бұрын
thank you! no problem! and yeah I should probably get those JIS screw drivers People have been telling me about. I could make a video about it too. and yes I'm planning on getting full springs and Cartridge Emulators for it and ill be doing a full video on it eventually
@alexwilliamson82255 жыл бұрын
@@TDubsKid That's dope, can't wait to see it. Just got back from a trip in the desert and I was hitting the bottom of my suspension pretty often lol. The last time I've really ridden my TW I weighed 40 lbs less, not to include the 25 lbs of gear for camping. I've heard of people using forks (or maybe even rear shock (maybe even from a banshee)) from a YZ85 some time ago, but all the internet searching I've done has proved inconclusive.
@TDubsKid5 жыл бұрын
for sure! I can't wait but it might be a while still, yeah I bottom mine out all the time too, the emulators make the suspension more modern, because it uses orfice tubes which is old technology, and causes the suspension to be too firm for low speed huge bumps but makes it too soft and causes it to bottom out constantly hitting small bumps at high speed. the emulators fix that. this guy explains how they work: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oGS0io17htSBla8 yeah you will need some really good customization skills to do that becuase you will need a different steering head and i'm sure it's not a direct swap. it's a cool idea though

Hi TDubskid, Question for you. I am having problems with my rear breaks. when I use the rear break the foot pedal jumps up and down. feels like when you ride a bike with a bulge in the tire. Do you know what could be causing this? Its a 2015 TW, Thanks for your time. Take care be safe an always be happy and healthy. Cheers!!
@TDubsKid5 жыл бұрын
hey I would take your rear brake off and see if there is anything abnormal going on in there. what your describing sounds like a warped drum but it seems like an unlikely thing to happen to the tw200. may just be some broken brake shoes or something. also check to see if your snail adjusters line up on the rear wheel. let me know what you find! thank you! ride safe 😃🏍

Great video man, did you ever make a video on how to change the sprockets on the tw? Also where would your recommend buying sprockets from?
@TDubsKid5 жыл бұрын
thank you! and funny you ask, I just ordered new sprockets and chain an hour ago and will be doing a video on replacing everything here soon, my front sprocket is bad, I bought the sprockets from procycle.com and the chain on amazon. if you get an after market rear spocket you may need to buy the bolt kit on procycle.com to make it work. ill show that in the video. stock gearing is 14/50 my old setup is 14/47 which is 6.4% more speed compared to stock but this time i'm going with 15/50 which is a 7.1% increase in speed from stock. it's hardly any difference but I though I would try something a little different. check out this sprocket calculator to see what gearing will be right for you sprocketcalculator.com/

Do I really need to replace the brake hose every 4 years? How come? Just wondering... Should I get the fancy stainless braided line type?
@TDubsKid Жыл бұрын
Thats what the manual says in the service table, I haven’t replaced mine though, cars have similar brakes likes that move constantly with the suspension. Nobody replaces those as maintenance ever. Never seen a problem with them, might just inspect it and make sure there is no damage though
@therealrealshocker Жыл бұрын
@@TDubsKid okay sweet, I kinda figured but I wasn't sure. If your brake pads are worn some, it's best NOT to fill the reservoir all the way, rather fill it to the same level as when you started. The reason is, when you put in new pads in the future, you have to push the pistons in the brake caliper back in to make room for the thicker pads, which will push brake fluid up the hose and back into the reservoir, overflowing it. In other words, as the brake pads wear, there is a net movement of fluid from the reservoir to the brake calipers to push the pistons, dropping the level in the reservoir. This is normal. Unless you have a leak in the system, you never have to top up the brake fluid in the reservoir. If you do, you then have to remove some when you put in new pads to prevent an overflow. Of course, never let the level drop below the low mark. If you have no leaks in the system, this should never happen. It is normal for the level in the reservoir to drop as your pads wear and rise again when you replace the pads. This information is based on my experience with cars, which I think it applies to bikes too. I have not changed brake pads on my bike yet. Lastly, if you're ever in doubt as to where the level should be, it doesn't hurt to top it up. You'll just have to remove some when you put in new pads. I really like your videos, TDubsKid. They are full of real content, no nonsense, and entertaining.

Shouldn't you be using a JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards) screwdriver?
@TDubsKid5 жыл бұрын
yeah that is the correct one to use but most people don't want to buy extra screw drivers. regular screw drivers work ok as long as your careful, and give it enough pressure into the screw
