'Not everyone does an exercise the same way' is one of the best pieces of advice you could give a beginner. Everyone's body is different so expecting a universal form for every exercise is just out of the question. Just do what's comfortable for you and don't hurt yourself because some 'influencer' said you HAVE to do a specific range of motion or the lift doesn't count.
@rickysmith604110 ай бұрын
I love training legs, I always go hard and do a full workout with every isolation exercise. squats to hamstring curls, leg extensions, hip abductors and adductors, hip thrusts or kickbacks. Drop sets on all except squats. My squat went from 135 for 10-12 to 215 for 8 recently on my first cycle. I love training legs, I think it's because I don't feel as much ego attached to my legs so I don't feel bad about my lifts. And I just enjoy training them, I don't mind going hard.

Just wanted to add on to the squat depth convo. I’m not sure if this fixes everyone’s issue if you can’t go deep, but I put 5-10 lb plates under my heels. That helps me go a little deeper and puts a lot less stress on my lower back. I’m very flat footed and because of that, it affects my depth. I find the plates help mitigate to flat footedness and always me to get more range of motion. This may also take away lower back pain during deadlifts as well 👍🏻

That last segment of advice is 👌🏽🔑 key. Ya, I only noticed growth in my legs when I trained with someone who brutalized me (particularly when we got to Bulgarians). It's like the equivalent of PR'ing cardio each time with the type of pain/intensity you gotta train legs to grow. It freakin' sucks but totally necessary which is why a lot of people (including myself) didn't have wheels for the longest 🚘🚘💯

I'm 60 and I have no problem working out hard, squeezing out those last reps, the hardest thing is avoiding injury. Just in the last few weeks I really strained my inside hammy on the heaviest set, then after getting over that I tweaked a lower back muscle grinding out that last rep on my last set. So frustrating.

Funnily enough I do back squats first then RDLs but my hamstrings are huge, definitely underated for having a thick leg, but my needs are different to anyone elses and since people wanna neglect hamstrings, they'd do better training hamstrings first. For me, I could only get my quads to grow once I tracked session tonnages, pushing it weekly by a few hundred kg was the ticket. Being completely jellyleg walking out of the gym was a good sign. If I could still walk properly, chances are I was slacking
