Man I just found your Channel today and I love your content! You're 100% right with your statements. There are so many people out there burning out because of their job and they just don't know when they have to (or should) change their situation. For sure, there are some more subjective reasons to quit a job and find something new, but you just listed (in my opinion) the 3 most important arguments. Especially as a developer you should know your worth these days and nobody with this type of skillset should be slowed down in his growth just because of a company. Developers / SW-Engineers etc. will build the base of our modern, technologized / digitized lifes. In view of this fact, please make sure you choose your company wisely, because you CAN! Greets from Germany, and happy coding

I have four parameters that I measure: 1. Salary - if you get more/less money then you would get on the open market. 2. Knowledge - if you learn new skills and tricks that you will be able to resell later for a better position/pay. 3. Position - if your official position/seniority will help you resell yourself for a better position/pay. 4. Tempo - if you work so much that you can't study/learn because you are tired all the time.

1 - 2 - 4 are the best for me. I would just add the first reason that Harry mentioned: manager. If you have a unfriendly manager, it will be hell to continue working at the company. Believe me, I speak from experience.

it took me long to realize this, and now my work is affecting my mental health (getting headaches and less sleep). I wish I had seen this before.

Completely agree! Left my first job after 1 year coz I wasn't growing anymore. Second job after 3 months coz to the company went directly into maintenance mode and almost entire team quit within weeks. And third job after 2 years coz I didn't like the new management decisions 1 year in and I couldn't cope after adjusting for a year. The current job has flat hierarchy and a very high paced growth velocity so I learn something every quarter and I can't imagine leaving it anytime soon.

In IT if you need to grow you need to switch.

Sadly true. Hard to find a company that helps you grow with it.

Lack of meaningful work is a big one. Spending all day working on software that isn’t used or helps the world in any significant way is a soul drainer.

Other reasons: burn out, company's culture doesn't align with you anymore, tired of the same projects (if they don't let you switch between projects)

Main facts I reconsider my position. 1. Groth of my skills 2. People I work with .. 3. Salary But My colleague has a new fact to reconsider his position which I fully agree with. Supporting remote work is his concern:D My company wants developers to back to the office daily from next month. We will meet difficulty to travel everyday haha
