Bypass the board for the transformer power, see if everything else works ok. If it does consider a permanent bypass.

I my past experience, Mitsubishi makes the best, longest lasting units. Guess that's why they cost an arm and a leg. I've installed about a dozen LG's over the past 2 years with no call backs as of yet, but I know that won't last long.
@donnyjackson190819 сағат бұрын
I’ve installed close to 100 LG systems with only 2 callbacks in 3 years. I think installed correctly they are very reliable.
@PhilipNation-xm5lh19 сағат бұрын
@ I hope so! Good to hear. One of my competitors installed the LG ducted air handler when it first came out. He said the customer loves it. It’s a fraction of the cost of an ultra high SEER split system. The key being “installed correctly.” Purged, pressure tested and good vacuum pulled. Most don’t do that.
@donnyjackson190819 сағат бұрын
@ 100% purge nitrogen. Proper ductwork, pull a vacuum below 100 microns and setup the dip switches correctly. Weigh the charge in correctly and they just seem to work awesome. Especially in Indiana Winters

With these Gree units would you recommend having an element installed or just rely on the heat pumps during cold winter days?

Warranting a board that got wet. Because of poor manufacturing of the enclosure? Please explain?
@paulsmalser32615 сағат бұрын
Just a FYI, on these high efficiency inverter units you should insulate both refrigerant lines. When these operate in heat mode they can both create condensate on the small line as well as lose some efficiency.
@gregwarren858321 сағат бұрын
That is why I hate systems that use those boards. Give the less complex systems. They last longer (by far), but may be a tiny bit less efficient.

Boards and refrigerant leaks pretty much sums up 90% of minisplit problems. Thanks for the video.

It’s not a mini split…. It’s a split system… condenser is a side discharge. It’s not DC voltage
@PhilipNation-xm5lh21 сағат бұрын
@@hvactech.florida5964 Are you sure about that? I know it's not a true mini split, but I was under the impression that they were inverter driven systems. It even states "inverter" on the shell. But, I've been wrong before and it won't be the last time!
@HVACGUY20 сағат бұрын
@@PhilipNation-xm5lhvery much like a mini split. Only uses a ducted air handler
@PhilipNation-xm5lh20 сағат бұрын
@@HVACGUY Yep, thought it was similar to LG’s version of the same thing. Inverter driven condenser with an air handler. Still computer controlled.

Hey Curtis, of HVAC Guy @ Climate Control not easy being cheesy. I like your podcast/social media, lookingthru some comments??? I guess some your customers,family,friends and competition are still checking in on you. Semper fi, just like that heat pump system, it is like a good looking woman, a thing of beauty. You got the strip her down again and see why she is not functioning right again. Love you buddy, you be safe there.

Just wondering, which manufacturer makes Gree products? I read online they partner with daikin but johnstone says theyre unable to get parts for it
@HVACGUY20 сағат бұрын
Gree is the largest air conditioner manufacturer in the world. They mostly make mini splits for themselves, and other name brands. The name Gree is only new in the US.
@Bob.W.22 сағат бұрын
Thx. Surprised at how dirty that outside of the unit got in 3 years. Must rain mud down there. 😂 Our Carrier mini split has been relarively good for its 1st 5 years, except for the lightning strike which took out both boards.

Fun times! You were a lot younger when you installed that thing in the worst place in the world. But the insides of the unit are nice and clean compared to most of the cruddy junkers you work on daily.
