Congratulations on clearing that space! I find tools all over my house too. No one will say they moved them, so I guess they walk on their own, lol! We don't have a beagle, but we have a Lego eating toy poodle. She also eats all the veggies she can steal and used to pluck grapes and raisins off the wild grape vines in our yard. Scott is right about the hard drives, but you don't need to keep the entire giant computer for that. Pop the case open, yank you the gard drive and recycle the rest. The hard drive itself isnt that big. You can store it or destroy it.

You should think about using that new empty space under the stairs as a home for bottled water, batteries, canned foods etc, you know, those emergency survivals kits. You might have those items elsewhere but that area seems more accessible. It's the first thing that popped into my head when you said you have repossessed that space! You are an inspiration to me! Lots of love from LA

My daughter just got married in March. I got a hold of the grooms family and asked them to bring one item from his childhood. I had the baby blanket my mom made for my daughter displayed where the couple was going to walk down the isle. They were both so surprised. I took a picture of my daughter and my new son with my mom and the blankets. Wow it was such a great memory for all of us. Hugs. Great job. I have been watching and today went into the dreaded garage and donated at least 10 huge bags full of great items. For someone who will use them.
@msjenjenp8 жыл бұрын
Woo Hoo! Girl, you are on a roll! It's funny how we hold onto things and once we finally decide to let them go, we never miss them at all. One rule I use is if I encounter an item that annoys me for any reason, out it goes. Especially if it annoys me for years on end. Haha. Most people get rid of their old things when they get new. Not me. I keep the old AND the new. I'm a vintage kitchen junkie and love stuff from the 30's and 40's. It makes me happy, so it is not clutter even though others might think so. Love that refrigerator-raiding beagle. He's a smart one. He can't help it if he's curious (and hungry) haha

Hi Sophia, we are selling our home after 25 years. After two dogs, numerous people living with us we had stuff stored everywhere, I mean everywhere. I thought store it for now but now never came. I've made over 8 car loads to Goodwill. Wow what a freeing feeling. Love your inspirational videos.
@annecharley11338 жыл бұрын
You are so right about the 'just in case' scenario. We keep boxes etc for a month or so, but leave them in a conspicuous place that can't get forgotten (usually a spare room). That way they are staring at me every time I walk in there. I'm pretty ruthless about getting rid of that kind of surplus (recycling of course . . !) Where the clutter really builds up (like most of us), is in cupboards and drawers, where items that were genuinely useful/current are stored, but then over time become obsolete for a hundred different reasons. That's why this challenge is so fab, as it's so achievable and realistic. As for your hub, well honey, he's a great guy, but sometimes you have to get tough! Very often items that are genuinely obsolete and unused for a long time will not even be missed if they let's just say, 'mysteriously vanish . . .' Of course common sense has to be applied . . there's a big difference between real junk and something that might seem useless, but could be of genuine importance to another person. Scott made a good point about the old computers . . wiping/destroying the hard drive is essential. Maybe you should put them in a conspicuous spot, so they have to be dealt with pronto!

Rewatching for inspiration...I’m working along with you in April 2019. Regarding baby blankets - I’m glad you’ve saved them. I held onto my little brother’s baby blanket. I fixed it up and gave it to him when his little girl was born. She loved a different blanket. Three years later his little boy took it as his favorite. It’s so cute to see him all wrapped up - just like his Dad (my brother) did when he was that age. Ah, such great memories!
@Spokenfan7 жыл бұрын
Love your channel ❤️❤️❤️ I am so happy you are keeping the baby blankets. I kept my Daughters even though people kept telling me to get rid of it, they would say it's old just clutter. But when she got married she said "Mom I wish I hadn't told you to get rid of my baby things", I said guess what I still have them. She was overjoyed and I was too. I never ask anyone anymore on sentimental keepsakes because they have no emotional connection to them and 99% of the time they say it's clutter, it's junk, get rid of it. I get talked into it and always regret it later. Sometimes I feel they get secret joy out of others pain :(. Anyway I learned lessons from it. Love your channel, thank you.

Your story about Ashif and the chocolate cake brought back memories of my cousin's beagle who ate a five pound box of chocolate off the top of the fridge. We still haven't figured out how he got up there but he did leave paw prints from the bag of cheese balls he ate that were also on top of the fridge. I swear beagles have cast iron stomachs. He has never suffered any ill effects from his foraging but he has taken a few years out of our lives with his antics. It's a good thing they are so cute otherwise it would be hard to be patient with them.

My husband wants to keep the boxes to everything, I finally convinced him to get rid of his computer boxes. Right now he has clothes in his closet that's over 20 years old! This was our conversation one day... Him: I've had this for 20 years. (I think it was a shirt, he was very proud of this fact) Me: Have you worn it in that time? Him: No. Me: Then get rid of it. Him: No, I might need it. Me: But have you worn it in that time? Him: No. Me: Then get rid of it Him: No I might need it. We had that argument for a good 10 minutes before I just gave up lol. I once was in the process of moving and spent my last night in town night at my friend's house (I had no apartment anymore). My friend went to work in the morning, leaving me with his silly beagle. I was getting dressed to leave town, and that beagle stole my rolled-up socks and ran around with them for at least 45 minutes. He would even tease me by dropping them, and when I would get close to them, he would grab them again and run all over the house with them. I had only that one pair of socks, and I'm a small female, so I couldn't borrow any from my guy friend. Finally, the dog got bored with the game and let me have them back. Crazy dog!

My husband is exactly the same about old computers. It was driving me insane. I ended up removing the hard drives and tossing away the computer tower. The hard drives take up no room at all.

I was just curious how the "lid" to the couscous pot got downstairs?? That made me chuckle!! Love that beagle....mine used to wear me down, also. But she's gone now...what I wouldn't give to chase her one more time.

+Lisa's Bananas Thank you pet police for overstating what everyone already knows. What would we ever do without people like you to remind us of how we can be more like you???? Annoying much? Sophia is no dummy and I am sure she is aware that dogs are not to eat chocolate or bolts.

if the milk crates looks like they're from a dairy, give them to convenience stores or grocery stores, those things are expensive. They never break so you shouldn't just throw them away, theyre made for heavy duty stuff.
