@@rbkgaming2581 well I am old(skool)😄 so even talking original PS and Saturn line ups where you had (and I don’t say they were all timeless classics but at least they were different and original) your Wipeout, Jumping Flash, RidgeRacer, Doom, Virtua Cop, Resident Evil, the first ever Formula One, The Getaway etc. all within a year or so after the release of those consoles and now we are four years in and we have remasters/remakes and some decent titles that are not even all generation exclusive. The only company surprising us with original gameplay is Nintendo who proof they can still be innovative within decades old ip’s.

I grew up with games like; Assassin's Creed, Resident Evil, Batman Arkham Series, etc. I remember the gameplay is evolving in those games, each release will add new cool features (from AC 1 - Unity, Arkham Asylum - Knight etc.) But in the years between 2016 till now, they don't bring anything new in terms of gameplay features, they even downgraded the gameplay (they removed parkour in recent AC games, add microtransactions, downgraded the combat systems, not using motion captures for cutscenes, etc.) except Resident Evil... The remakes are amazing, it's certainly an improvement over the originals imho

FIFA World Cup 98 featured gradual evening darkness with floodlights turning on. These unique touches have vanished. The current European Cup version of “FIFA” don't even include national anthems, just a generic intro-it's all laziness. I remember getting COD MW in 2007 on my two-year-old Xbox 360-it was a revelation. But COD has been almost the same game ever since. Ubisoft releases essentially the same game with a different look each time, though I credit them for long-term support. And the problem is: they CAN be original. For Honor, for example, introduced new mechanics to the fighting genre, much like Skate did for skateboarding games in 2008. Why won't any company release a new fighting game with original gameplay mechanics and a fresh perspective, like true street fighting? Where are the days when Sony produced The Getaway and Rockstar published Manhunt? Has gaming become too mainstream and corporate for this?

Slitterhead and Black Myth Wukong look fascinating. The latter coming across like a mix of Kung Fu Panda and Dark Souls. John Carpenter's Toxic Commando looks wicked. Most of these games look pretty uninteresting. After what machine games did with the last wolfeinstein game I'm gonna be cautious with that indiana jones game. The only game on this list that I'll probably buy is the new zelda. Nintendo may have done us dirty with the paper mario ttyd remaster but we'll see. The problem with big game companies is they bend the knee to the woke media and don't give real gamers what they want. Both female and male gamers are tired of ugly female game characters with no feminine qualities. The writing in new games is also bad because they try too hard not to offend anyone.
