A Part of decluttering that I’ve added before the year ends, is to declutter social media (Facebook, Instagram, youtube, Pinterest). Unfollowing/unfriending the people, companies or groups that no longer bring joy to my life. Opening my social media now is more enjoyable and no more pressure or burdens added to my journey of clearing my life/mind. Thanks for sharing. Your videos bring me joy and a sense of calmness. ♥️

The biggest "minimalist" thing I did for my wallet was to a) go cash free and b) get loyalty cards integrated into my regular credit/debit cards, or c) get an app instead of a loyalty card. So now all I have is 2 cards in my wallet! There is no way I would ever remember to clean my purse out regularly...

I'm not a minimalist and is not likely to ever be one, however I found this video really inspirational. I've actually been doing a little bit of these in the past two weeks. Spent several long nights just decluttering my documents (I've actually been hoarding documents, receipts, etc for well over a decade and it's just silly really), and I've also done a lot of clean-up on my computer, and now I feel inspired to want to tackle the rest. I just started a new position at my job which has given me more time and energy, and I would really love to actually do some decluttering, so thank you for this guide.

I watched a video about minimalism just yesterday and the woman who was talking about it made not only myself but quite a few people in the comment section upset. She spoke with such a judgmental tone, as if we should be ashamed of ourselves for not living more like her. I wasn't going to make anymore searches through KZbin because of her videos. However, this morning your video popped up in my suggested list and I'm so glad I watched it. Not only were you informative, you were also very kind and understanding. This is a pretty huge lifestyle change for some people. The way you approached things, the advice you gave that this wasn't going to be the easiest and it wasn't going to happen over night... I mean your attitude alone was so refreshing that I subscribed almost immediately. With that I say thank you and I can't wait to see what else your videos have to offer!

To reduce clutter: after all the cleaning is done create a landing space for your incoming clutter. I have a small cloth covered box from target where I put my everyday things: keys, wallet, meds etc. It's on top of my dresser and take some minimal space. That way the clutter is not out Easy to grab off the top and grab what I need. I also suggest a small box with lid and insert that is my mini desk. When I sit pay bills, whether on the computer or the couch, I have it all beside me: calculator pencils pens mail etc. I don't need a pile. The pile and office supplies are in the very small box and go in the closet when I'm finished. Thanks again for the video.

I desperately need to do this but it fills me with anxiety. I live in Japan. I don't have access to clothing in my size and my weight fluctuates frequently. I'm of lower income and I just don't have the money to replace things at short notice. The waste makes me feel incredibly guilty as well. Thrift stores aren't a thing. Japan has a massive disposable mentality... I have mental illness (it's stable atm though) which I don't think really helps the situation but because of my bipolar I have a LOT of what if items because my hobbies are so diverse :/ I've got to do this...

Something you have to keep in mind when watching decluttering or minimalism videos is that it's based around simplicity to make you happier and de stressed, not just to get rid of stuff. If you need the things you have, then consider organizing each category (not even with fancy containers just reorganizing) and cleaning them instead. I don't live in Japan but I am a college student in the US so I understand at least your situation with not having the income to replace clothing or furniture sort of thing.

This was a very helpful and nice video. I'll be sure to use some of your tips! I just didn't like how you spoke about dictionaries. What is wrong with still using one? I found it condescending to say "it's now called google". Not everyone loves to exchange books for digital media. And PS, before anyone hates, I'm 20. Not all our generation lives in the digital world.
@PickUpLimes7 жыл бұрын
My sincerest apologies, xSilentHope, as this was meant to come across more as a joke more than anything. The tips I offer in any of the PUL videos are just meant to offer some suggestions, but as you may know: I always encourage people to do what feels best to them. If an item makes you happy, then by all means keep it - there is nothing wrong with it in the least. I hope you can understand and sending much love ❤
@raraavis77827 жыл бұрын
xSilentHope I'm sure it wasn't meant that way. Keep in mind: if a youtuber/public person always censors what they say so no-one could possible ever be offended by it, things get pretty...unspontaneous and tense. We all want to listen to people who are genuine and open...but that also means we might get confronted with something that rubs us the wrong way every now and then. But as long as there was no bad intent...why not shrug and respond: "I LOVE my dictionary!'" ☺ Or think about it that way: Who is the person you're hurting most by being offended? YOU! Same with anger...or most negative emotions. Yes, they are completely natural and sometimes useful to mobilise the strength to defend yourself...but mostly they are just a waste of time and energy. It took me a long, long time to learn that...to calmly (and humorouly) make my point if I disagree, without letting it get to me emotionally...but it makes for a much happier life.
@theblessedlife23767 жыл бұрын
xSilentHope so so so true what u said.. there’s no harm in having one or two dictionaries that too from our childhood..

I study literature & so I use dictionnaries on a regular basis but I understand Sadia's point. So many people keep dictionnaries without using them just for the sake of it. In the line of a minimalist approach, keeping dictionnaries without using them is pointless.

For people with children I have recently been using an idea from a previous minimalism video about boxing it away for a few months. I do this with my smaller children’s toys that I know they would shed tears if we donated them, but are never played with. This way the playroom and bedrooms are better organized, but we can still find the forgotten to and bring it back to life if we need too.

I did it all, such as delete a photo in my phone, throw a paper which I don't need, give my high school book to my sister, and always give my shirt to my neighbor. That's simple but give me big effect in my life 😍

I DID It All In One Day LOL

@CC CC 🏅 ⭐️ 🙌🏼 Congrats to you. I'm assuming you had a small space, and/or not a lot of possessions to start with. Doing it all in one day isn't possible for most households with adults beyond their 20's-30's (more life experience very often also equals more furniture and household items, and a larger home. )

I love the last point how you say "Day 30: The mind.. ".. Yes it is.. I've started minimalism and finally able to find the meaning of that last point. Thanks a lot.

I've just started my minimalist journey. I've got a chronic illness which was my main reason for wanting to make a change. I've watched many KZbin videos but the advice was always information overload. I was finding it very hard to declutter all these things at once because of the pain I struggle with. I love how informative and helpful your advice is breaking it down in to categories will help me so much! Thanks you're very easy to understand and don't overload with too much information. New subscriber here! 😊

Great video. But I am really shocked by the dictionary "now called google" 1) google keeps track of your data 2) the act of searching in a dictionamakes is learn. It's a process and the search helps memeorize. Have you noticed that we often search the same thing online again and again and don't remember it ? 3) what do you don't when the internet connection is poor ? Speaking of being 24/7 under wifi is not healthy and now that we are forced to switch to 5g we will be irradiated day and night. A physics researcher friend confirmed that wifi iradation is harmful to the brains development for children especially.

In April 1951 Better Homes and Gardens it was called the Big Spring Clean. We have always done this. If we want to call it “Minimalism”, lovely. You wash the walls and clean the cupboards and closets.
