Vacuum seal your flower , rice, beans, and sugar to extend their life. Place them in a paper lunch sac and close with painters tape prior to placing in the vacuum bag and sealing them . We started doing this in 2006, and frequently use our flower and sugar from that time period, and it’s still good.

I vacuum pack everything. I’ll be eating brownies and chocolate chip cookies at the end of the world. Just kidding about the end of the world. But in an emergency, I’ll want for nothing food-wise. And an emergency could just be I got sick with chicken pox and have to quarantine for six weeks which actually happened to me in 2004. Had coffee and TP and powdered milk. No problems. No worries. Just prepared.

Very good, common sense advice. Twice in a day I heard of people who were wasting their precious reserve energy to run coffee makers! (I have a drip pot and a French press.) I dehydrated many dozens of eggs and have them vacuum-sealed in jars. I learned to pressure-can simply to make sure we had plenty of meat. All of what you listed, and even the candy, are on our shelves,(under beds, behind doors...). I am always on the lookout for something different in canned or packaged goods to be able to change things around. I would add more sauces to your list, like green chile, teriyaki, Worchester, and sweet and sour sauce.

Canning my own meals in a jar was the best thing the Amish taught me. Tons of jars full of chili, stews, soups and meats. I keep my yeast in the freezer and I have a jar of sourdough starter i got from their farmer's market. Love the Amish!

We are “ next level “ preppers and if you’ve ever eaten ramen noodles after 8-9 months of storage…..you’ll gag! They use very low grade oils and the rancidity is mind blowing. Simply not edible! Also we suck and seal rice ( vacuum sealing ) as bugs DO hatch out of it. Take note that we are super long term storage preppers. Flour goes rancid in @ 2-2&1/2 years. We stick hard winter wheat and also wheat grinder. Also , a quick note: tomato sauce in a jar will go at least, 10 years….kept dark and insulated from heat. We’ve researched that here…..in practice. Also, be careful of canned tomato or fruit as the acidity will eat through the can within a couple years.

While out walking my dog recently I stopped by the bank and picked up 50 ones, 20 fives and 10 tens. My wife recently came home with $85 worth of pork loin cryovac on sale. About 170 servings or so of meat. Now that harvest season is over we will restock with canning lids, rings and a few dozen more jars. We already have next year's vegetable seeds stocked. Bread making supplies! It isn't that hard, just give it a try. People have been making bread for thousands of years! About the only add water food we stock is pasta and oatmeal. We no longer used mixes for baking or extending.(hamberger or tuna helper) Not getting mixes saves a lot of money.

As I am watching this I got a notice that there was a train derailment near by with a chemical spill. People are asked that if they are home to block all ventilation and if they are not home to avoid going back until cleared. Now its not mandatory but what do you do if for safety reasons you can't get home. I would love to see a video on that.

The election doesn't have me on edge but the wars overseas definitely have me concerned. I just made sure my flashlights, lanterns and chargers have batteries or are charged. It is good to know we have soup, candles etc for any power outage but if something big came along, which I hope it doesn't, I am stocked up but I don't have a generator so I'd have to jar or salt what is in the freezer. I do have jars. I don't want to waste it. Make sure you have lighters.

I would never recommend putting flour in mylar. I did it knowing it would still only last 1-3yrs. I took some out at 1 year, made bread and it was AWFUL! Very strange taste. I saw someone online cut small hole in top of bag, add oxygen absorber, tape it shut and put that bag of flour in the mylar. I'm trying that now, we shall see. They swear by it!

Maybe watch Magic Prepper as well, for some of these reasons that may be coming down the pike.
@nitanice2 ай бұрын
well, I don't think I'm the typical paranoid person who preps in the US. I just grew up on an island with hurricanes. I'm prepared, not a "prepper." But if Trump puts a 100 percent tariff on all imports -- well? Cocoa and coffee aren't grown here. Probably be good to get those things. Avocados are mostly imported from Mexico. Can't really stock up on those. What this guy is talking about is -- silly? I guess? Strawberries for half the year from Mexico. I mean, he's not really looking at it logically. I have no idea why Kamala would hurt the economy. But Trump would definitely hurt my coffee! So that's all. I'm getting some now, but honestly, I don't want to get four years of coffee. I'd rather just give it up if it comes to that. This video is just fear-baiting and click-baiting.
