Literally one of the best designs for a school bus tiny home conversion that I've seen. Love the way the back bedroom is to the side leaving a little corridor/hallway that adds so much dimension.

Love this Bus conversion ! For me, the only thing missing is a washer/dryer & a woodstove. I really like how the bed is to the side rather than the entire back. I love the nick nack shelf up front, the book shelf by the kitchen it's all really awesome. I hope the couple ends up sending in pictures when the bus is completed. Thanks for sharing......

I'm in love. I do appreciate a little more of a rustic look to take away from the residential feel but this man's work is always phenomenal. -I just looked at a 30' with my girls and we're getting all the more excited! ❤️

one of the best. the smooth white surfaces made it feel less cramped and cluttered. PLEASE show it after its been set up as a home and lived in for a few months

Or a foot pedal non electric washer. Yes they are small but I think they are great
@seanregehr49215 жыл бұрын
Looks great. Only issue is the shelving is not very practical in several spots when in motion/driving down the road. Either you have to secure everything ahead of time to take your chances that nothing goes flying. Also the "back closest" pole for hanging clothes looks very shallow. I would bring it away from the wall a couple inches. This schoolie really is a pleasant, open layout and has plenty of natural light.
@bobb79933 жыл бұрын
Excellent layout with the bed forward which allows the great closet AND the use of the emergency door in the rear. You all did a great job in the conversion.
@journalinthedirt5 жыл бұрын
We have drawn and redrawn potential floorplans for our skoolie and this one is almost exactly what we have! So exciting to be able to see something so similar in real life! Some differences we have in our skoolie are: 1) We have a child and are planning on more but we co-sleep, so in the back we'll have a toddler murphy bed that folds down flush to the edge of our queen. The fold up space will be kids play space under murphy bed. We also won't be able to access our garage from inside (not sure if i'll regret this or not). 2) Woodstove with storage under behind the driver seat. 3) We have a washer and dog kennel space under the queen bed in the back. 4) Overhead storage above queen instead of peg board 5) And i'm hoping to find a little RV size tub for the kids. But otherwise same exact layout! So excited to start our build! I think it's gonna work really well for us. And I'm trying to decide if I really need a mini sink in the bathroom or not.
@jfitzpatrick61084 жыл бұрын
You Blue Ridge guys do really nice work -- especially the woodwork. I never saw a schoolie with a wood entry staircase before. I like the large sink - big enough to hold all of Thanksgiving dinner's dirty dishes. What surprised me most was the two door, under the counter refrigerator. I wanted one like that for my apartment; but no local supplier could come look.

You guys do a nice job. I like the hallway next to the window better than through the middle. Now to make the school bus look a little less like a school bus and more like a modern house on wheels.

Better in so many ways than a commercial RV. The kitchen shelves (above the kitchen counter) need a lip or stuff will fall out of it when driving on a rough road. Otherwise, great use of space.

3 things to keep in mind when buying a bus for this type of thing: 1.) Bring a tape measure because some buses only have an interior height of 5'10", which one may consider getting a different model, or perhaps extending the roof for BOTH headroom and a sufficient amount of insulation. 2.) Check the length of the bus, because in certain states a bus(or any vehicle or total length of vehicle with trailer) that measures over 30 ft., it's required that the driver must posses a CDL. ...and 3.) After running into this issue I decided to change my living & storage format. Imagine your driving your tiny home-vehicle and it's in-need of repair. So you take your vehicle/home into a garage and they inform you that they'll need to keep the vehicle overnight(or longer) to get the part for the job or the job is taking particularly long. Where do you stay now? ...they're not going to let you stay in the vehicle during the time it's in the shop. So what I do now, is use a van to sleep in, while I haul a trailer for the rest of my stuff. But I also have the trailer built to-where I can sleep in it, IF my vehicle has to spend the night(or longer) in a mechanic's shop. ...just something to consider ;)
@rhondacooley4556 жыл бұрын
Excellent, useful tips. Thanks for sharing Justin!
@RonsClassicRVs6 жыл бұрын
Your CDL statement is incorrect. Some commercial made RV's are over 40' long and over 26,000 Lbs and no CDL is required.
@disneyworld29286 жыл бұрын
Nop , you should park your car somewhere safe where you could let your home sit on a land, then drive the car only to the shop ( after all, it is only 2 days right?!)
@bentleyharden96196 жыл бұрын
@@RonsClassicRVs Right on! 26,000 Gross is the DOT limit, but there are exceptions for private vehicles. Some states require it for air brakes.
@isaiahbangura44214 жыл бұрын
If you register it as a motorhome, some of which are over 40 ft you don't need a CDL

Beautiful! May I please suggest 2 thoughts? A deeper cabinet at the front door, perhaps steal some space under the sofa/bed, for footwear. Also I would like to see 3-5 lights in the ceiling along the hall towards the back. This would give the appearance of length or a longer bus than it is. Wish you were in Canada. I could hire you guys instead of having to build one myself. Again, absolutely beautiful!
