Thanks HornadyLoader! Excellent video you made for Anneal eez!!! Since I can’t leave anything alone, I took a Dremel tool with a grinding stone and ground a little material off of the tip of the retaining plate on my Annealeez machine. Now I can get the point of the flame closer to the neck, without melting the indexing wheels. I am not recommending anyone to do that. I’m just saying that is what I did.

***** I noticed you altered the retention ramp a bit.. that's okay as long as it works..

Pollrumptious wouldn't that actually provide less protection for the wheels?

If I’m making blackout then at what stage should I anneal the brass?

Which option do I select on the order menu to add a 300 blackout kit when ordering the Annealeez machine?

Dumb question maybe but what does annealing do to a case? Make it stronger?

Not a dumb question at all. Takes the work hardening from the drawing process out. Softens the metal. At a full anneal it is so soft you can squeeze it between your fingers.

if I'm paying an extra, $25 for 300 aac , why isn't the wheels installed before shipping to the customer? why not ship a finished product?
@Annealeez8 жыл бұрын
+ian fitch Ian, did you purchase a machine and the 300BLKOUT kit? If so did you request to have the kit installed instead of the standard wheels. We ship a finished product, not sure what you're asking me? The standard machine comes with the standard wheels installed and ready to go, you just have to mount/point the torch where you want it and hook up a propane bottle. The purpose of this video is to show how to swap out from the standard indexing wheels to the thinner wheels for the shorter cases. We also have another video on how to swap out from the standard indexing wheels to the large caliber indexing wheels.

I could see doing this if you were performing an operation where the metal was then going to be moved quite a ways and cracking was taking place. The 300 Blk shoulder is tiny. I anneal bullet jackets after the first operation so the 2nd does not stress fracture the metal. This is a huge distance as forming goes.All you are going to accomplish by taking all of the necessary work hardening out of the case neck at this point. Is to weaken the bearing surface critical to keeping the bullet straight and held firmly in the case during semiautomatic or automatic fire. You do not want the mouth to bend when the bullet contacts the feed ramps. You soften metal for the specific purpose of moving it. The Blk only needs a forming adjustment from .360 to .334 difference of only .026I read the article you list here. What do you gain if you can bend the bullet in the neck? If a case ever did get old enough to crack toss it...................

With every firing.. the brass work hardens more, then when you run the case through your press, the brass work hardens.. essentially every time you move the brass around it work hardens. Annealing not only preserves and restores the elasticity of the brass, but the biggest benefit I am aware of is; even neck pressure and thus improved accuracy. There are many good shooters that do not anneal their brass. You are also correct that brass is cheap enough to toss when it's bad. Increasing, more and more shooters are becoming aware of the benefits of annealing and making this part of their reloading regimen. To answer your question specifically... correct annealing to 750 degrees fahrenheit will not make the brass so soft you can "bend the bullet in the neck". only over annealing to higher temperatures is destructive just as you described.

Why not place INDEXING MARKS on the wheels to simplify the changing from the small caliber (standard) wheels to the large caliber wheels? It seems as though an indexing mark would be at 12 o'clock on all wheels when the cutout was at 5 o'clock. Then the indexing marks would align with the top wheel mark at 6 o'clock and the bottom wheel mark at 12 o'clock when the cutouts were at 11 o'clock and 5 o'clock, respectively. INDEXING MARKS on the wheels would take all the alignment guesswork out of this especially with many of today's youth having used only digital clocks to tell time...

Why is there a washer now installed 300 upper wheel?
@Annealeez8 жыл бұрын
+TheSgtk9 There isn't usually any washers in the front of the machine.. On this video the Kevin placed a washer there because he wanted it there.

no.. the temp gun gets a temperature from the flame..
